Chapter 26: Sandman
Third person POV
Everyone faced trap number four seriously. They battled furiously against the large group of nightmare sand animals.
Pitch spied at everyone, grinning evilly. He paid most of his attention to Jack and Elsa. Finally, he decided to order his darklings to back away and bring down the labyrinth.
"Mummy!" "Daddy!" "Kids!" Voices were everywhere as everyone was in joy to see each other again. They hugged with tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces.
Pitch stepped out from the shadows after sneaking in, undetected. "Well well, what an emotional breakdown we have here."
"Pitch!" Everyone said at the same time.
"Lookie what we have here, 16 people with teary eyes." Pitch burst out laughing. Jack wasted no time blasting Pitch with his ice, catching him off guard. "Calm down there Jack Frost. You're just lucky I let you see your lived ones and friends, cause that's the last time you'll ever be seeing them." Pitch scoffed.
"You better save your breath, Pitch! You're the one who's gonna die here." Jack shouted.
"Nope, it's you and everyone else here-"
"WHAT?!" All the children exclaimed.
"Hush now, little kids." Pitch said. "You wouldn't want your death to be NOT peaceful, would you?"
"You're out of your mind!" Eliza yelled.
"What the heck are you talking about?! We ain't dying!" Kristine shouted.
"Now I know why kids are so annoying." Pitch crossed his arms. "I don wonder on how you take care of them."
"Why don't you just get to the point Pitch." An annoyed Eugene snapped.
"With you blathering here, it's just wasting our time!" Hiccup added.
"I'd say we just kill him right now." Jack glared at Pitch.
"And...Action?" Kristoff asked.
"Oh please, why rush your death? Times have changed Jack Frost." Pitch smirked.
"Yeah, I realised you have quite the darker skin now instead of just black clothes." Jack smirked back.
"Oh yeah? What about you?" Pitch crossed his arms. "All I see is just another human to kill."
"Now Pitch, you better just shut up." Punzie said.
Pitch snapped his fingers and his army reappeared. "I did say I would torture all of you in the labyrinth first. I was hoping some of you had already been finished off in these four traps so I would have less things to do. But heck, guess not.
"And that's how we roll!" Kristen cheered.
"Oh really?" Pitch asked. "I saw you little boy, welcoming your death, willing to give up your life just like that. Would you like a recording? Cause it was priceless! You believed you died when you fainted, welcoming your death just like that."
Kristen panicked a little and Kristine gave him a nudge. "You're in big trouble when mom and dad ask more about this." She whispered. Anna and Kristoff looked at him in disbelief.
"Get to the point already idiot." Merida snapped.
"My point? Simple, you shall die in my arms." Pitch replied.
"Ain't gonna happen." Elsa said firmly.
"You're messing with the wrong people." Anna added.
Pitch rolled his eyes and signalled for his darklings to advance. He disappeared back into the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment. Hiccup, Harold and Henry quickly flew up with their dragons to attack. Eliza and Elijah worked together to make an ice monster. Anna gave some hard punches while Kristoff kicked the darklings.
Jack and Elsa each created an ice snowflake under them to float up and began attacking. Punzie threw her hair lasso over the horses and tighten the grip, they disappeared. Jessica and Jenna did the same thing. Merida and Eugene worked together with their arrows and frying pan. Kristine and Kristen made sure the arrows didn't go off course as there was a sudden gush of strong wind every now and then.
Pitch jumped down from above and grabbed hold of Jack. Jack was stunned and struggled to use his powers on Pitch but it didn't work too well. "Today's the day, Jack, the day I can destroy you." Pitch announced.
"Oh yeah?!" Jack elbowed him.
"Not so fast!" Elsa shot off a block of ice at Pitch. Pitch quickly created a barrier surrounding him and Jack, making it impenetrable. The dragons blasted the barrier but it didn't budge. Merida's arrows didn't work either, nor did ice or telekinesis.
Pitch made a dagger and aimed it at Jack's throat. Jack gulped and froze in fear. "Excuse me, what the heck are you doing?!" Eugene exclaimed.
"I promised before I would let you see Jack die right in front of you Elsa, even though it was years ago I made the promise but I will still do it, and I will, right now." Pitch laughed evilly.
"You are not just killing our father like that." Elijah summoned all of his energy and aimed it at the barrier. Unfortunately, it stayed strong.
"Stop wasting your energy kiddo." Pitch rolled his eyes. "And as for now..." Pitch brought the dagger closer to Jack.
Before he managed to plunge in the dagger into Jack, golden colour sand stopped Pitch. It took control of Pitch's hand and the dagger flew out of his grasp. "What?" Pitch looked in disbelief. Punzie quickly pushed Kristine and Jessica out of the way to avoid the dagger.
"Who did that?" Eliza whispered.
"I don't remember any of us having a golden sand power." Jessica whispered back.
The golden sand continued to surround Pitch, releasing Jack and Jack hopped down. Elsa quickly ran and hugged him. "For a moment, I thought I was dead meat, just like the same feeling years ago." Jack said.
"But we all know that Jack Frost can't die like that!" Hiccup grinned.
"No, it can't be!" Pitch blurted out. "This sand, it can't be!"
"What are you talking about?!" Anna snapped.
Before Pitch could answer, a bright light shone from behind them. Everyone turned around to have a look. A man, all in golden colour clothes and sandy gold hair walked out of the light. "SANDMAN!" Pitch exclaimed. "What are you doing here?!"
Sandman walked closer to Pitch. "Well, well, if it isn't Pitch Black. Long time no see." He smiled. (Sandman can talk in this story)
"I thought I had finished you off long ago!" Pitch shouted.
"Well you think wrong. Now I'm back, to prevent you from doing harm again."
"Well you certainly took your sweet time in that. What are you gonna do? Tell a dumb bedtime story again?"
"Those only work for youngsters. You're not one any more."
"You just wait till I get out of here and finish you once and for all."
"Well then, you will have to wait for that." With that, Sandman surrounded more of Pitch's body with his gold sand. He turned to the rest. "Go! Get out of here while you still have the chance! Get to safety." He ordered.
"But, this is the chance we can kill that guy so that he will trouble us no more!" Jack protested.
"Just go!" Sandman snapped.
Elsa just dragged Jack and ran along with the rest. Everyone ran until outside the house. The children gasped for breath. "Well... That didn't turn out too good." Eugene sighed.
"What do you mean didn't turn out too good? We just got saved!" Kristoff said.
"I don't know, it's just... I don't know how to put it." Eugene stated.
"Ok well this has been a long day and we should get going." Elsa declared.
"I wonder what that Sandman did to Pitch?" Anna asked.
"Well if he can do a favour for me, kill Pitch once and for all." Jack groaned.
"Now, now then Jack, opportunities will come." Punzie comforted him.
Hiccup, Merida, Harold and Henry already began walking home without waiting for the rest. Their dragons followed them behind. Punzie, Eugene, Jessica and Jenna decided to go back as well. They said a quick bye and walked.
"Well, let's go home." Anna tried to break the awkwardness. Kristoff, Kristine, Kristen and her walked away.
"Cam we go home now too?" Elijah begged.
"I still want to know what Sandman is doing to Pitch!" Jack stomped his foot on the road.
"You can just let your dad keep grumbling here while we go back." Elsa rolled her eyes.
"Ok ok fine!" Jack sulked and walked home with Elsa, Eliza and Elijah.
