Chapter 9

Later that week, we decided to see if there was any missions we could go on. The counterman said there was one, but it was pretty hard. What he explained it as, was we had to defeat more demons, basically. But the hard thing for me was I couldn't do anything without completely slaughtering everything.
The whole story was, there is this garden full of growing crystals, and the man growing them has a bit of an issue. One of his workmen has been possessed by a demon, and we need to kill it, because it eats crystals. And apparently the man sells the crystals when they are full grown.
"We'll take the job!" Laye yells.
"What?!" Elle and I both yell.
"Yeah!" Laye says, smiling ear to ear.
"Well, I guess we're doing it." Elle says, sighing.
The man teleports us again to our location, and we appear in a very unexpected place. Well, I guess it should have been more expected, but I guess I thought it would look more- farmy.
It looked like we were on a mountain. A house sat right in front of us, and to our right, was a very large cave.
Laye's first reaction was to go and knock on the door. Elle and I followed behind, and a olive-skinned man opens the door.
"Heh? What do you want?" he says.
"Rude! And here I thought we were going to help you!" Laye yells, turning around and stomping away.
"Laye! Be nice for once!" Elle yells.
"Um, hi. We're here on a request for a mission. How can we help?" I ask.
"Oh, you should have just said so! Come in! Come in!" he says, smiling.
"Hmpf." Laye says.
The inside of his house is definitely what I expected. It gave out an extreme farmhouse vibe.
"Well, I don't know which worker is the possessed one. They look all the same, so it's a little confusing." he says, pointing out of the window.
The game creators made two different types of helpers. One is for hard work, and the other is for maid-like motives. This type was for hard work, I suppose. They were little mini men and women, who had no emotions. As I said before, they were created to just do work.
The problem with having them was they were prone to demon possession. And it is almost impossible to exorcise the demons out.
"Do you even know if it's male or female?" Laye asks, looking at the hundreds of tiny people mining crystals.
"They don't have genders. They were made to look like humans." the man says.
"Well, I'm sorry. Do you know if it looked male or female?" Laye asks.
"Nope." he replies.
"Ugh! This is a pain!" Laye yells, and Elle elbows her in the stomach.
We walk back outside, where the man whistles the helpers to line up. They varied in all different shapes and sizes, just like real people, but they made me feel uneasy, anyway.

Laye took a close look at all of them. "I think it's this one! She looks like she would get possessed, she's wearing red pants and a pink shirt! It's a fashion sin!"
"Laye, can you stop for awhile? Big kids are working now." Elle says.
I look in the eyes of each one, checking for anything different. I was about to give up, when I noticed that there was a red circle on a woman's neck. I take my fingernail up to it, and a vine reaches up, and impales the spot. She falls down in a puddle of black blood.
Elle and Laye give me puzzled looks. "Why that one?" they ask.
"She had a red circle on the side of her neck, which was a dead giveaway for her not being like the others." I say.
"What?! How in the world did you figure it out so quickly? It took a few other teams three days, and they solved nothing!" the man says.
"I didn't think it was that hard. Those people just need to be more observant." I say, having a change of heart. I felt mean for a moment.
"Jemma, your eyes-" Elle says, showing me my face through a pocket mirror.
I look at myself, into my eyes. They were green, as normal, but there was a cross shape inside. They widen at the sight. My eyes turn red, only for a second.
A red tear streams down my face.
"What the-?"Laye whispers.
"I'm normal... I'm normal...." I chant.
The man out of fear teleports us back, and we get sent back to the counterman's desk.
"Welcome back- oh my gosh." the man says, looking at me.
I fall to my knees, and cover my face with my hands.
"Calm down, Jemma. You'll be fine." Laye says, putting a hand on my back.
"Don't tell, please, don't tell..." I whisper.
"We won't tell anyone. I don't know why you're so worried, though." Elle says.
I take a deep breath. "Elle, let me see your mirror." I say, holding my hand out. She sets it in my hand, and I open it. My eyes were normal again, but I had blood red tears all over my face. My hands were covered with it, too.

The first time I ever changed my eyes. It's weird remembering it, since it's so normal now. Well, I guess you can't call it normal.
