Chapter 3

First thing was first, Laye gave me my outfit with a smile, saying she had worked on it all night while Elle and I had been sleeping.
I tried it on, and like a wizard, Laye had guessed my exact measurements. The dress was loose, unlike Elle's. It was pink ombre down to grey, and back to pink. Not really my color scheme, but it was pretty.
The next thing was choosing the name. None of us had an extreme creative streak, so we just kept it our names for the mean time.
"So, we pretty much have no witness that we are a group." Elle says, holding up the paper that states the rules.
"So? All we need to do is think of a name and a logo. We could be called anything, as long as we just have a name." Laye says.
"Then pick a name at the top of your head!" Elle says.
"Green booger!" Laye says, laughing.
"That is quiet possibly the worst name ever!" Elle yells.
"Dyed Sky!" Laye says.
"The sky isn't dead." Elle says, holding her temple.
"No, you dummy head! Dyed! As in, hair dye!" Laye says.
"Oh. Okay. Then what is our team logo?" Elle says, writing the name down.
I draw a curvy letter C with a squiggly line through it. It wasn't the coolest thing ever, but it was easy to draw. I look up, and Laye and Elle surround the paper.
"Hm, its kind of cool."
"Yeah, and It should be easy to write."
"Yeah! We could use it as the team signature!"
"That would be so cool!"
"Um, guys?" I ask.
"Nice job, nooby." Laye says, and Elle elbows her in the gut.
"Thanks." I say.
"You need to chill out! Start acting like we're you're friends, not your uncle!" Laye says, holding her gut.
"Yeah, We're not strangers anymore. You can trust us." Elle says.
"Even though it doesn't seem like it, since someone keeps beating me up!" Laye yells at Elle.
"Well its not my fault you're an easy target!" Elle says.
Laye rolls her eyes. "Whatever. We should probably head downtown, to send in the form."
"Yeah. Plus, I don't think I've gotten to explore enough of Jaylemm yet." I say.
"Okay, then, lets go!" Laye says, running out the door with a fist in the air.
Elle and I walk after her, the halls of the apartment smelling like flowery vines.
Outside was as pretty as when I first came. There were vibrant, pretty colors everywhere. Flowers grown in flowerbeds, trees growing taller than buildings in real life.
We walk down cobblestone sidewalks, to a tall white building, that like most houses here, were covered in dark green vines.
We push open the cedar wood door, to see a place that looked like a president's home or something.
I stare at the beautifully crafted wood interior, and Elle grabs my hand, and takes me to the counter, where a woman with short, curly blonde hair stands at the desk. Her lip and eyebrow were pierced, and she was wearing a fancy white suit.
"Hello, girls." she says, looking at me. "Hm."
"Hey, Char." Laye says, waving the filled out sheet in front of the lady's face.
Her expression looked mad for a second, but she shook it off when she saw I was looking. She turned around in her swivel desk chair, and pretended to type the information down.
I don't think Laye or Elle noticed, so I tried to ignore it.
"So, Char, whatcha been up to?" Laye asks.
"Work. Unlike some people." she says, rolling her eyes. She stands up, straightening a stack of papers, and walking to another room. I noticed that on the back of her neck was a tattoo of a moth.
We walked back to the apartment, where we saw there was a letter sent by the government of Jaylemm.
"Okay, m-hmm. Okay, guys. We're going to be going on a mission, where the judges will decide what powers will be assigned to us." Elle reads, folding the paper again.
"What?! How is the letter already sent?" I ask.
"Teleportation." Laye says, picking at her half chipped off black nail polish.
At this point, that made sense.
"Oh, okay, I guess." I say.
My vision went a little blurry at that moment, and I started to feel my virtual body disappear. The last thing I saw was Laye and Elle staring wide-eyed as I fell from existence.
