Lucy
Lucy's POV
I awoke in a strange room. I felt a warm bed underneath me and when I looked around, I saw a strange man looking down at me.
"Ah, you're awake, I see." He said. "Do remember what happened to you?" He asked in a soft voice.
I shook my head slightly and winced. Ouch, that hurt. The truth was that I did remember what happened. I just didn't want to relive it in my mind. I tried to sit up, but I had to lie back down. It hurt too much.
The man held my hand. "Shhh, don't move." He said. "You've been asleep for two days. I was wondering if you were going to make it."
Two days!? I've been asleep for two days!? I tried to ask him where I was, but my voice wouldn't work. I tried to sit up again, but the pain was too much. My eyes closed and I slipped into the darkness.
---------------------------------
The next time that I woke up, I had an oxygen mask over my head and I felt an IV in my arm. That, at least, told me that I was in a hospital. Was the situation that bad? Was I on the verge of death?
The man, who I awoke to earlier, was sitting in the chair next to the hospital bed. He was sleeping with his head on his arm.
I sat up slowly and looked around. The room was small and had a window. I looked out the window and wondered where the hospital was. I definitely did not remember the last time I saw a tree.
I reached over and tapped the man on his shoulder. He jolted awake and I quickly moved my hand away from him.
"You're awake." He said. "Hopefully, for good this time."
"This time?" I asked. How many times did I go in and out of consciousness?
He nodded and smiled. "You woke up a few times, but I guess your body needed a little more rest. How do you feel?"
"Like I got hit by a truck." I replied.
He laughed at that. "I would assume so. I don't know exactly what happened, but one minute the building was empty and the next... I saw you lying on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood. I picked you up and carried you to the hospital. I didn't know if you were going to make it. Do you remember anything?"
"Not much." I said. "All I remember is running down an alley and being chased by... someone."
The man nodded. "Well, my name is Paul. Do you remember yours?" He asked.
"Lucy. M- my name is Lucy." I said.
Paul nodded and smiled. "Well, Lucy. Whatever happened in that building, I'm sure we can figure it out."
I shook my head and looked down at the oxygen mask that was on my face. "Can... can I take this stuff off, now?"
"Good question." Paul said. "Let me go get a doctor and she can check to see if your clear to leave."
I nodded and watched him leave. I had to admit that he had a nice butt.
When he came back, a doctor in white scrubs was accompanying him. The doctor walked over to me and stood next to the bed.
"Hello, sweetie." She said. She had red fiery hair, which she had pulled back in a pony tail.
She smiled at me and took off my oxygen mask. She put a stethoscope on my chest. "Alright, sweetie. Take in a deep breath and hold it for me."
I did as she told and took in a deep breath and held it. She nodded and told me to let it out slowly. When she was done, she took out my IV and put a bandage on my arm.
She turned to Paul and smiled at him.
"Well, Paul. Your friend is going to be just fine. She's very lucky. I'll go sign the papers for her release."
And with that, she left the room. Paul looked at me and smiled. "Here that, Lucy? You're going to be just fine!" He grinned and sat down again in the chair next to the bed.
I nodded and laid back down on the bed, as we waited for the doctor to come back.
