XII
I didn't edit this sorry-
The sides were all gathered around the living room. "How long has it been since our last meeting?" Emile asked.
"Approximately one month," Logan responded. "We have much to discuss. Would anyone like to start?"
"Uh yeah actually," Remus started. "So you know how like when you become a sie, you have to die first in the real world. Like me and Roman died in an assassination attempt on the throne. We usually remember what happened, or at least have an idea right? Well I asked the twins about it a while ago and they had no clue, but Ruby was able to recall a recipe as if he knew it long along."
"So wait are you saying that could be something from their past?" Remy asked.
"Emile and I had the chance to look at Ruby's art and poetry a few days ago. I don't know if Emile found anything, but reading Ruby's poem, it reminded me of something. I did a bit of digging and I found what I was looking for," Janus said. Janus pulled a book out of his cloak and put it on the table for everyone to see. A Whisper in the Woods By: Virgil Sanders.
Logan picked up the book. He opened it to the first page and briefly read the poem. He looked up at Janus, "What is this?"
"Virgil always had a flare for poetry. He wasn't one for singing, but he loved to write poems and songs. This is his collection of every sing poem he has ever wrote. I collected them while he was writing them and made a book out of them," Janus said sadly. "It was like his photo album."
Roman snatched the book from Logan's hands and turned to a random page. He started to read the poem out loud,
"There is a storm cloud that looms over my head
It's been there for as long as I can remember
Growing and shrinking
Light and fluffy
Dark and rainy
It's invisible to the whole world but me
Because I learned how to hide my storm cloud
But others have a hard time hiding theirs
I watch as they walk past me, their storm cloud leaving a trail of rain behind them
The storm cloud grows and shrinks
The storm cloud is our sadness
Our fears
Our hate
Our tears
But everyone has a storm cloud
And we will always have a storm cloud
We will have a storm cloud until our last days
Our first and last friend."
By the end of the poem, Roman was quiet and sad. The poem spoke to his soul and hit a little too close to home. Roman closed the book and set it back down on the table for someone else to read.
Remy reached over and grabbed the book, "So what was the point of this?"
"My point is that there are a few poems in this book that Ruby himself is writing. They are exact duplicates," Janus said.
Logan pondered this thought for a second. Could this mean there is a way to get Virgil back?
"Oh uh... We need to learn how to care for teenagers," Roman spoke up.
"It will be fine, I raised Virgil and Remus. I know how to raise a teenager," Janus said.
"Yeah but now we have two teenagers and they are smart. They will start to connect the dots," Roman said, leaning forward onto his knees.
"What loose ends did we leave?" Emile asked.
"Well for starters, they aren't allowed out in the Imagination and we still don't have a good reason. Next up, they have access to the Sanders Sides episodes and they have been watching them, or at least Speedy has. They want to meet Virgil. And finally, they are teenagers. They want to be able to roam their house without a bodyguard. They complain about it all the time."
"Alright then. Shall we call the twins and explain these situations to them?" Logan asked.
"Uh sure?" Emile asked.
Logan turned to the staircase, "Ruby, Speedy."
All of a sudden, Ruby popped up in a skeleton t-shirt and orange plaid pajama pants while Speedy popped up in a large light purple sweater and a pair of running shorts. Ruby looked like he was typing something as his laptop came with him. Speedy was braiding her long hair into twin braids, she groaned when she rose up and forgot which strand went next. "Woah that was new," Ruby started.
"Yeah what was that?" Speedy asked.
"That was called summoning. We have yet to go over it in class," Logan informed.
"Uh huh. Now if you will excuse me, you guys talk. I'm going to sit down and continue to try and braid my hair," Speedy said while she sat on the staircase.
"Gladly. Ruby, Speedy, we have some things to talk about," Logan started.
"Uh oh. That's scary," Speedy chuckled.
"I would like to start," Roman said. "You guys have been complaining about not being able to go out into the imagination. Do you know why you can't go out into the imagination?"
"Yeah. You guys said it was like really dangerous or whatever," Ruby said.
"Wait then why do you complain?"
"Because things get boring. We want adventure. It's like being locked inside of a house for our whole lives. Like I get that when we learn how to sink in and out and stuff that we will be able to visit Thomas, but for now, it's boring as hell," Speedy complained. "Hey I'm going to put pause on this whole serious talk thing to go use the restroom." Speedy got up and left for the restroom leaving all the male sides in the living room. When she came back into the room she was smiling, "The braids are even."
"Why does that matter? You're going to bed anyways," Janus pointed out.
"See that's where you are wrong. If you have this much hair, putting it up while you sleep is the easiest way to keep it from getting tangled. But in association, your hair keeps the curves from how you did your hair. So when I wake up and take my hair down, my hair will by wavey for a while. I would prefer it if my hair was somewhat symmetrical."
She apparently shocked them all into silence, "Come on guys. Don't give me that dumb look. I don't have the time to do my hair and I honestly don't know what to do with my hair, but I do know how to braid my hair so stop judging my girl secrets. Come on with the serious talk before I fall asleep."
"Ah yes. The serious talk. Now I know that you two have been watching Sanders Sides, the series we make with Thomas," Janus said.
"Uh actually that's just a Speedy thing," Ruby said.
"Well I do know that Speedy has been wanting to meet Virgil, aka Anxiety."
"Do we actually get to meet him now?!" Speedy exclaimed.
"No."
Speedy groaned and leaned back on the stairs, "Such a let down."
"What I am trying to say is that we must wait until later for you two to meet him. Let's say he is... dangerous," Janus said slowly. He got shocked looks from his fellow sides. He gave them all a look that said 'I'll explain later.'
"What?! How is he dangerous?!" Speedy exclaimed.
"Yeah! He still shows up in the latest episodes!" Ruby defended.
"I thought you didn't watch the episodes," Speedy said, turning to her brother.
"What do you expect, I share a room with you."
"Whatever. How could he be dangerous?! He's like the most popular side!"
"How badly do you want to meet Virgil?" Remus asked, looking down.
"Really badly! He likes purple, his room is dope, he has a good taste in music, and he has our sense of humor," Speedy rambled.
"Trust me- she won't shut up about him," Ruby groaned.
Remus sighed. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to see his new little brother and sister be happy, but he also wanted his best friend back. He wanted his crush back. Remus sighed and stood up, "Janus, Logan, can I talk with you?"
Remus, Janus, and Logan walked out of the room. "So uh is serious talk over? Can we go to bed now?" Speedy asked.
"No!" Logan called from the other room.
Speedy groaned and curled up on the staircase. Soon she fell right asleep, Roman conjured a blanket for her.
Ayyye more of my poems... Also accidental self promo? I mean it's just the name of the poetry book I have on this app so I didn't see the harm of putting it in this story. There's only three chapters in that poetry book-
