Chapter 5
*Riddhi Pov*
"We are going to get late." I mumbled rushing near to the table holding our breakfast.
"Do not worry, Riddhi. We saw nearly every day that it doesn't take much time to reach near the college at this time in the morning." Shiv said assuring me and we both started having our breakfast.
"We will be in the same class right? I mean what if we are in different classes?" I asked suddenly with the panic I as usual feel at the beginning of each class year from the time as much as I remember.
"Don't start your panic now otherwise I will do what I did on the first day of our engineering collage." He said smirking at me and I glared at him.
"I don't know what you are talking about." I said, shrugging to which he placed his hand over his heartbeat.
"Ouch! You forgot our first kiss?" he asked with a dramatic acting, making me laugh a little.
"Finally, you laughed." He said smiling, making me feel so good knowing that he was trying to make me laugh from the past one week.
"Who won't when they have a boyfriend like you." I said smirking.
"Is that a compliment or insult?" he asked frowning.
"Whatever you wish for it to be." I replied, winking and stood up carrying our dishes back into the kitchen.
"If we are in different sections, then just wait for me near the class door and I will come near yours." He said the moment we stepped inside the college.
"Ok! We even have to go to the grocery store for our job right." I said remembering our new part-time jobs.
"Don't make me remember that at all." He said with a distaste sound.
I sighed knowing well he is just not liking doing that job with a very strict manager saying one thing or other thing to each of the worker.
However, we were lucky to get it in short time and cannot loose it no matter what. All these thoughts came into still when I saw the students buzzing inside the college.
"Wow!" he whispered from beside me and I smiled, feeling his happiness and excitement for all this.
"I think this is the stadium as we were shown that day when we came here." I mumbled showing him the direction.
"Yeah! Let's go, but why don't we walk around the campus a little and get to know someone." He suggested.
"It is a good one but what if we couldn't find our seats easily and get late. There is time for us to get to know other right? I mean there will be people sitting beside us too whom we can get to know." I offered not feeling the immediate comfort to walk around just now without assurance of the orientation.
"Why don't you go to the hall while I just look around?" he suddenly suggested.
"Ok!" I replied, smiling and calmly walked towards the hall tightening my hold over the books.
I searched for my name and his after which I walked out seeing no one present inside the hall. I may not like all this bonding so soon, but I need to change and get used to it.
After a few minutes I couldn't find him anywhere and decided to walk back, but then saw his figure a little away near a big tree with a group of people.
He never fails to get close to people so soon which just make me love him more as he was the one who persuaded me to even talk to him.
I know how distant I was with him during intermediate even though we were classmates in each class. We shared a word here and there in each of those classes.
But then suddenly one day during a lecture in intermediate, he threw some paper at me making me just stare at him in shock because that was the second day of the college.
I opened it to see a question asking me whether I remember him. I wanted to laugh at that because why does he think I don't remember him.
I slowly nodded and pushed the paper inside my bag thinking the matter is settled, but he threw another paper again and this time it would have been caught by the lecturer if it was any second late.
I didn't open the paper and just held it tight along with my breath until the bell rang. When it did rang, I immediately turned toward him with a glare to which he grinned.
Opening the letter I don't know whether to laugh or cry because the words were that he too remembered me.
For a week after that I sat at the corner far away from him until he met me near the lake where I generally used to go all the time on weekends.
He apologized and I apologized back for behaving harsh for a simple thing and the conversation started which didn't end just that day but continued even now.
"Shiv! I found out your seat and was searching for you." I said walking near him to which he turned smiling.
"And who are you?" I heard a voice before he could say anything.
I turned towards a girl standing in the group of another two boys. I blinked at her because I am still getting used to the attires here.
"She is my girlfriend Riddhi." Shiv introduced me before I could open my mouth on introducing just my name.
"You have a girlfriend?" she asked with shock evident on her face.
"Wow, even Indians are fast." One guy said, making me frown at him.
What does he even mean by that sentence? Doesn't he know every human being loves and there is no particular event which happens only for a part of people?
"Idiot! Just think before saying anything." Another guy scolded him and turned towards me.
"I am Charlie." He said forwarding his hand, which I took shaking it with a smile.
"And I am Sam while she is Sailaja." The other guy introduced and I looked at the girl in shock.
"You are from India too?" I asked smiling at her.
"No! My parents settled here when I was just a kid. So, I am not and it is Sailu." She said in a distant voice making me frown at her.
"I met her yesterday in the grocery store while she was shopping for icecream." Shiv explained and I nodded at him.
"He was sweet to help me find the ones which were not on the display and got them from inside." Sailu said smiling at him.
"That he is." I mumbled smiling at Shiv who rolled his eyes at me in mockery.
"Shall we go?" he asked me and I nodded before we all walked towards the hall.
"See? Didn't I told you that my friends will be yours?" he asked in a whisper making me chuckle.
"They are already your friends?" I asked him in teasing tone.
"They introduced to me by themselves and didn't let me move from my place and just talked. So, of course they are and the opinions seemed to sink as far as I can see." He replied shrugging.
"They must have flattered you." I mumbled stopping myself from laughing.
"You are so jealous." He whispered before pecking my cheek and I stilled in my place before looking around.
"No one will say anything, Riddhi." He mumbled assuring me, but I still felt uncomfortable.
"Ok! But I need some time to get used like this." I mumbled back.
"He is your boyfriend, Riddhi. No one would say even if you make out and are not in relation. Why are you making a small thing into big for that?" those words made me turn around immediately to see Sailu standing with her hands folded.
"You guys heard?" Shiv asked frowning.
"Yeah! It was so silent here that we could." Sam said shrugging.
"Let's go!" Shiv said, dragging towards the seats I showed him.
We were in different rows, but the immediate ones. Slowly the orientation started and I didn't even try to introduce myself with other sitting beside me which I need to change too.
But not everything on a single day thought when my only concern was regarding the sections at present.
And when I found out that it is the same looking at our schedule after we walked outside the hall comparing our papers, I stared at him with a grin.
"Happy?" he asked, smiling.
"More than you know." I replied, smiling back and we walked towards our class holding hands.
There were just introductory classes which were nice because I at least know the names of the classmates and more great to be able to sit beside him on the same bench without much care while it was not acceptable in our former college.
Even if it was acceptable I wouldn't have done that because we wanted the secrecy to not let anyone come disturbing us. Here we can't stay in secrecy and live in peace as we need each other more than before.
"So, there is a party at my house as it is the beginning of the college. Will you both come?" Charlie asked when we walked outside the class.
"Actually, we have to go to work." I replied when Shiv hesitated.
"Work?" Sam asked, frowning.
"Part-time jobs." Shiv explained.
"It will not matter to not go for a single say, Shiv." Sailu said shaking her head.
Maybe it doesn't but he will definitely lose the job as the manager already seemed to be against him. I stared at him, hoping he will understand the situation here.
"Maybe another time, but now we just started the job. So, we can't take any risk." He simply said and we both walked outside bidding bye to them.
"You are ok with this right?" I suddenly asked, remembering his hesitation before.
"I meant every word." He replied, smiling and I smiled back before we started walking to the store which is near to the college, unlike our house and we cans ay it is between the house and college but more towards the college.
Just the first day but so far so good and wish for it to be the same for the next two years completely but with our parents.
