Molested

"Tell anyone and you are dead"

But her life was already drained out of her.

"There are gonna be consequences, if you speak about this"

She went through the worst, what else could happen?

"No one is going to believe you anyway, there is no proof"

Except the fact that she was violated, there wasn't really any proof.

"It's all your fault. You provoked him"

That's what they all kept saying.

"The skirt you wore is too short."

Didn't she have the freedom to wear whatever she wanted to? Where did his common sense go?

"You love me don't you? Why don't you do this if you trust me?"

Loving doesn't mean she is ready for the next step.

"If you spill my name, I'm going to ruin you"

Little did he know that she was already damaged and dead.

"You were drunk"

Just because she is drunk doesn't mean she gave her consent.

"You dirty creature, you bring misfortune. Get out of my way"

She was a victim, she never deserved to be treated like a disease. She didn't ask for it.

"He will serve imprisonment for two years"

But she was a prisoner in her own body. Non bailable imprisonment.

She didn't provoke him,
She didn't ask him to rape her,
She didn't call him home,
She was just walking down the street with her eyes on the pavement, going home from a party, or back from work.

She was hoping she didn't catch unwanted attention, she was hoping she could reach home in one piece.
But of course it couldn't happen.
Who knew skirts could say 'fuck me' ? Who knew 'please don't' meant you can have your way?

Who knew 'leave me alone' meant follow me until I give up?
Who knew 'let go' meant hold me tighter?
Who knew 'please stop' meant continue?
Who knew 'help me' meant watch and walk away?
Who knew the soft cries meant leave her in the middle of the night on the side of a road, naked and vulnerable to defend herself?

She picked herself up, after he was done and walked back home. Her mind scarred, her body violated, and the whole herself never the same.

No one would believe her. No one would listen if she said it happened. They'd say she did it for attention. They'd say she had it coming because of the clothes she wore. They say she brought it upon herself by curling the hair or winging the eyeliner.

Of course she reached home in one piece that day. But cracked, violated, destroyed, used, damaged and broken beyond repair.

Long time no see..
How have you all been?
Thas poem is because I've been hearing about the molestation cases on the news very frequently. It has become like a daily routine. Even smallest of the kids aren't spared. I hope one day this comes to an end..

Until next time...
Byee..
