Bevelle: Earlier that day

What did Yuna want to tell him? Was it about Paine? Baralai couldn't avoid that strange feeling of worry when he thought about Paine; that dream was still haunting him. What if something happened to Paine? He couldn't live without her in his life, sure he hadn't seen her in three weeks, but she was still alive at least! At least he had the opportunity to have her in his life; he was a mess without her.

When he saw Yuna and her boyfriend Tidus, he felt a little pang of jealousy; not over Yuna, but because Tidus was smart enough to tell her his feelings. That was more than he could say for him and Paine. What if he never got the chance? He had to stop haunting himself with such questions.

"High Summoner Yuna, you wanted to see me?" he asked nervously. Why was he nervous? Did he think bad news was coming?

Yuna's dismayed expressing confirmed that to him. Bad news was coming.

'Here it comes' He thought miserably.

Yuna took a deep breath to compose herself then said "Paine has gone missing...she just up and left...without a word"

'There it is.' Even though he was expecting it, his heart still nearly stopped and then started to speed up to an unhealthy level. He was silent for a minute trying to clear his head. Paine was gone; she'd run away. "Wait, what?!" he asked snapping his head back up to look at Yuna "She ran away? But why?!"

Yuna looked down at the floor sadly. "We don't know...she didn't say anything...or leave a note or..." she paused to wipe tears out of her eyes. "But we have a theory...me and Rikku think we know why she ran off..." she trailed off. "Please, tell me." Baralai prompted her. He had a bad feeling about this.

"Well..." Yuna sighed sadly "We got three more Gullwings...and well she must have been feeling a little unappreciated these last few weeks...and she hasn't heard from you, Gippal, or Nooj since Luca so she might have felt a little unwanted...and..." Yuna trailed off, eyes widening when she realized what she'd just said.

"Un...unwanted?" Baralai muttered to himself. That was enough for him; he was going to go and find her. "Amy!" he called to his Secretary in the other room.

She poked her head out of her office "Yes sir?"

"You're in charge of everything until I get back."

Her eyes widened in horror of what she'd just been asked. "In...in charge? but..I'm..I'm just the secretary..."

But Baralai wasn't listening; he was already running towards the door. Tidus grabbed him and pulled him back. "Look I get it" he said "You want to go find her...look, I don't know much about your secretary...but I'm pretty sure Spira will fall apart without you..."

Baralai cut him off "I don't care...I have to find her...I have to get to Gagazet before she does!" he exclaimed, shoving Tidus aside and running out the door.

Tidus stared off at the closed door for a minute before laughing and walking over to where Yuna gaped at the empty doorway. "Did I sound that closed minded back on your Pilgrimage?" He asked laughing some more.

Yuna frowned at him. "How can you laugh at a time like this? And yes. It drove me crazy at first...but then I came to appreciate it."

Tidus laughed again. Yuna just frowned back at him. This wasn't a laughing matter, not a laughing matter at all. And what did Baralai say about Mt. Gagazet? Maybe he knew where to find Paine after all; but what would she be doing on Mt. Gagazet!? Suddenly a thought dawned on her.

"Kimahri!" she exclaimed excitedly.

"What?" Tidus asked with a confused frown.

"Come on." She exclaimed grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the door. "We have to go see an old friend!"

A/N Sorry for the slightly late update guys. I've been super busy with Church activities and stuff (Which were super fun by the way! If y'all ever get invited to LDS activities I recommend them.) Anyway back to my Fan Fic. I hope you are liking this so far. The story arc of the beginning of this story seems to be coming together pretty nicely so that's reassuring. Anyway so if you have any questions, comments, critiques, etc. please comment them. (The comments section seems so lonely...please help it feel like it has friends. lol ^_~) Oh and if you like this story so far, PLEASE PROMOTE IT!
