Irene Belserion. A girl who has done horrible things, and been treated poorly. The mother of all dragon slayers. A girl who lived 400 years ago. And the mother of Erza Scarlet.

After the battle against her daughter, Irene managed to get away. She hid, sobbing. What had she done? Could she ever fix this? Did Erza truly hate her? She wanted to fix what she had done in the past. You see, after Irene learned Dragon Slayer Magic, she was cursed to become a dragon. Her own husband locked her away in a jail cell. She sobbed for weeks. Weeks turned into months. Months turned into years. And then, she became a dragon. She broke out of her cell, killing many of the guards. She fled, until she ended up in a forest. A man was there. He said his name was Zeref, and he released her curse, and changed her back to human form. Though she still had the power to change back into a dragon.

After she was turned back to a human, she remained cursed. She still had the soul of a dragon, sort of. Yes, she had a human body, but she had the appetite of a dragon. She could eat everything in a restaurant and still be starving, and she couldn't taste anything. She couldn't sleep at all, and without dragon scales, she was freezing. It was torture. But then, she gave birth to a daughter. She tried to switch her and her daughter's souls, so that she could have her body and be free from this curse. But the spell didn't work. So, she abandoned her, and her daughter was later taken to work in the Tower of Heaven. But Irene never knew that. She traveled to Alvarez, an empire full of magic. Once she found out that the emperor, Emperor Spriggan, was in fact Zeref, she worked to become one of his best wizards. She became one of the Spriggan 12.

Then came the fateful day when the Spriggan 12 attacked Ishgal, specifically Fairy Tail. Irene came across her daughter, Erza. After the fight, Irene was believed to be dead, but she was simply unconscious. A few hours later, before the reconstruction of Magnolia but after all of the fights following Erza and Irene's, Irene awoke. She grabbed her staff and hobbled away from Magnolia. No one saw her. She hid in a forest, healing herself. And that's when she decided. She would join Fairy Tail, and be a mother to Erza, despite everything she had done to harm her.

After almost a full year, she went back to the Fairy Tail guild hall. When she entered, everyone froze. She now wore a tattered white dress, but everyone recognized her hair. And since Erza was already there, they knew it couldn't be her.

Erza requiped into armor and a sword and ran at Irene. Irene blocked her with her staff, but did not attack.

"Why are you here?" Erza asked. "You should be dead!"

"I'm sorry, daughter. Have I disappointed you?"

"I am not your daughter!" Erza screamed, raising her sword.

Master Makarov placed a hand on her shoulder. She fell back.

"Let me handle this." He said.

Erza nodded and backed away.

"Irene Belserion. Why are you here?" Master Makarov asked.

Irene bowed her head. "I want... to change. I don't want to keep fighting. Please, I'm begging you... allow me to join Fairy Tail!"

Everyone in the guild reacted differently. Erza ran at her with her sword again. Lucy and Wendy gasped. Natsu and Gray started fighting  Irene with Erza. There was a lot of shouting. When the dust cleared, not a finger was laid on any of the Fairy Tail wizards, but Irene has burns and cuts everywhere. She had allowed them to attack her.

"Follow me." Master Makarov ordered.

Irene nodded and followed him to a back room. He ushered her to sit, and she did.

"Irene Belserion. Tell me why I should allow you to join Fairy Tail."

"I know I've caused a lot of trouble in the past. But I want to make up for it. And... I want to be with my daughter, and try to fix things between us. I just want Erza to be happy, and I want a chance to be happy with her."

"Why should I trust you?"

"I don't know. Tell me what to do, and I'll do it. And... if any of the guild members are angry at me, then I won't stop them from attacking me. As long as they don't kill me, then I'll allow them to take their anger out on me."

Master Makarov thought for a while. He could tell Irene was telling the truth. But... what would the rest of the members think if he allowed her to join? Was it worth it? But then, the purpose of a guild was to give a home to those who have none. And if he rejected her, there's a possibility she would attack the guild, or even create her own wizard army like Zeref. They couldn't have that right when Earthland was about to enter an era of peace. He made his decision.

"You may join. But I don't want you to be in the guild hall too often, at least not yet. This might not be the best place for you to hang out."

"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much! I promise, you won't regret this!"

Makarov chuckled. "Now, where would you like your guild mark?"

"The same spot as Erza's."

Makarov stamped the Fairy Tail guild mark on her arm. She admires it in the mirror.

"Now, you really should get some new clothes. You should take a job, get some money, then head to the boutique down the street." Makarov advised.

"That does sound like a good idea. Thanks again, Master!"

"It truly is no problem. Now, I would leave before Erza tries to kill you again."

Irene laughed and wave goodbye. When she left the room and entered the main room of the guild hall, everyone stared at her. And then they saw the mark on her arm. Most sat in stunned silence. Erza, Natsu and Gray broke down the door to the back room, demanding answers. Irene signed up for a small job and left. There was no point in sticking around this place, where she might be killed. In the job, Irene just had to defeat a few monsters. After she was finished and had received her reward of 10,000 Jewel, she headed back to Magnolia and went to the boutique. She bought a plain white dress, and cut the sleeves off her left arm, where her guild mark was. She headed back to the guild hall and took another job without getting murdered.

This job was much more difficult, but it paid a 100,000 Jewel, which was enough to get a room at Fairy Hills, the girl's dormitory. She completed the job. She was still a very powerful wizard. Irene then headed to Fairy Hills. They had a lacrima running it, so she didn't have to talk to anyone to rent a room for the month. She got a small room in the back. The lacrima system took some of her blood, then used it to decorate and prepare her room for her. When she entered the room, she was stunned by how much it suited her. There was a small desk with a lamp in the corner, and it had a journal with the Fairy Tail symbol on the cover and a pen. The bed had white sheets with no pattern, and the small bookshelf in the corner had rule books for light guilds and a few books on the history of dragon slayers, along with some advanced spell books. There was even a stand for her staff. Her staff fit perfectly into it, and looked so powerful standing up. On the wall was a board with earrings clipped to it. She tried on a pair. They were gold, and complimented her hair perfectly.

After her long day, Irene decided it was time to rest. She laid down on the bed and fell asleep.
