Chapter 8

I saw New York in the distance, something was beginning to form above Stark Tower. A portal had been opened and it looks like creatures were coming through it.

"Thor, this is really bad." I said, looking at the explosions erupt below us. People were running for their lives, trying to find cover.

He landed on the balcony of Stark Tower, we both noticed Loki overlooking the destruction that was being caused.

"Loki! Turn off the Tesseract, or I'll destroy it." Thor said to his brother.

"You can't. There is no stopping it. There is only the war." Loki said, pointing his scepter at both of us.

"So be it." Thor said.

Loki came lunging at us, Thor pushed me out of the way and began to fight his brother. I tried to grab Loki's scepter but he would swing it away.

"Loki, stop!" I yelled, but he ignored me as he continued to fight his brother. I looked up as a roaring noise echoed through my ears. Another round of the army was flying out, along with a much bigger hovercraft looking monster.

Thor had ahold of Loki. I grabbed him by his collar, forcing him to pay attention.

"Look at this! Look around you! You think this is going to end with your rule? Whoever has you doing this, has you by strings. This will not end the way you want it too!" I yelled at him.

"It's too late. It's too late to stop it." Loki said, looking around.

"No. We can end it, together." Thor said.

At first, I thought Loki would agree and help us stop this, but he suddenly stabbed Thor. Thor leaned over, falling on his knees and dropping his hammer.

"Sentiment." Loki whispered. I quickly ran at him, pushing him over the balcony rail. But he landed on a hovercraft one of these aliens were on.

"Thor, we need to find everyone else. We need to come up with a plan to stop this." I said, watching this army Loki had brought to our planet.

He nodded. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he put one arm around my waist and jumped down to the street. We landed by Steve, Natasha, and Barton. Thank goodness.

As soon as all of us saw each other, we began to smile.

"Aurora! You're alive." Natasha said, walking over to me and hugging me.

"I'm okay, thanks to Thor." I said. Steve walked up to us, giving me a small hug before looking at Thor.

"Thank you." He said.

"My pleasure." Thor said.

"Barton, it's good to see you as yourself." I said, hugging him.

"I'm sorry, I was supposed to protect you that day at the lab and I failed." He said, hugging me.

"No, you did everything you could. Whatever magic or powers Loki brought, was something we weren't ready for at the time." I said. Barton smiled.

"What's the view from upstairs?" Steve asked.

"The power surrounding the Cube is impenetrable." Thor said.

I suddenly heard my Uncle.

"Thor's right. Thanks again, point break for keeping my niece alive. Aurora, you and I will talk after this. In the meantime, we have to deal with these guys."

"How do we do this?" Natasha asked.

"As a team." Steve said, looking around us.

"I have unfinished business with Loki." Thor said.

"Yeah? Well, get in line." Barton said, grabbing an arrow.

"Save it. Loki's going to keep this fight focused on us, and that's what we need. Without him, these things could run wild. We have Stark up top, he's going to need-" Steve was cut off as we heard a motorcycle approach. I turned around to see Dr. Banner coming our way.

"So, this all seems horrible." Dr. Banner said, getting off the motorcycle.

"I've seen worse." Natasha said.

"Sorry."

"No, we could use a little worse right now." Natasha said.

"Stark, we got him." Steve told my Uncle.

"Banner?"

"Just like you said."

"Then tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you." I could hear my Uncle say. Within a few seconds, my Uncle flew around a building as a huge alien, like, creator, hovercraft came following him. I didn't know how to describe it, I'm at a loss of words.

"I don't see how that's a party." I said, getting a little freaked out.

"Dr. Banner, now might be a really good time for you to get angry." Steve said.

"That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry." Dr. Banner said, walking towards the alien before becoming the Hulk.

He punched it as it began to fall over us, my Uncle shot at it, before it began to explode. Steve pulled me near and held his Shield in front of us. The aliens around us began to get angry as they realized what had happened.

"You're going to need this." Natasha said, handing me one of her guns. Thank goodness for those gun training weekends, dad.

I looked up as more of their army began to come out of the portal.

"Uhh, guys." I said. Everyone looked up, seeing what was coming out of the portal.

"Call it, Captain." I heard my Uncle say.

"All right, listen up. Until we can close that portal our priority is containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you for the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash." Steve said.

"Wanna give me a lift?" Barton asked my Uncle.

"Right. Better clench up, Legolas." My Uncle said as he lifted Barton up into the air.

"Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up." Steve said, before Thor went up into the air.

"The rest of us, stay here on the ground. Keep the fighting here. And Hulk, smash." As soon as the words left Steve's mouth, he went up and began to smash.

The aliens made their way down to the ground. Natasha and I began to shoot. One pinned me to the car, trying to stab me, before I kicked it in the face and began to shoot. I could hear people in the background, screaming.

"Steve!" I yelled, before one grabbed me, throwing me to the ground. Before it could shoot, I tripped him and shot at him. Steve walked over to me, helping me up. He touched my forehead and I winced, realizing I had a cut on my forehead. We turned and looked over at Natasha.

Her lip was cut and she bleeding.

"Steve, none of this is going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal." I said, out of breath. Natasha nodded, out of breath as well.

"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it." Steve said.

"Well, maybe it's not about guns." Natasha said, before looking up at me.

"Aurora, what do you think could close that portal? What has the same amount of power as the Tesseract?"

"None of our weapons for sure. The weapons of this alien army, maybe. But I strongly doubt it. Their weapons are more powerful than ours, but they don't match the energy of the Tesseract." I said, picking up one of their weapons. I watched the purple color glow as I touched it.

Wait.

"Natasha, Loki's scepter." I said.

"What?" She asked.

"Loki's scepter. I know the power in his scepter is different, but they most likely have the same powerful energy. That might be the only way to close that portal." I said.

"I'm on it." Natasha said.

"If you want to get up there, you're going to need ride." Steve told her.

"I got a ride." She said, looking at the aliens on their hovercrafts.

"I could use a boost though."

"Are you sure about this?" Steve asked.

"Yeah, it's gonna be fun." She said as she jumped on the car and then Steve's shield. He threw her up in the air and she landed on the craft.

Suddenly, more aliens began to shoot at us. I looked at Steve as we began to shoot back. How are we going to get out of this alive?
