~Chapter 25~

RISSA'S POV:

"Rissa," Harry let out a low whisper. His breath was warm against my lips, and I instinctively leaned in closer to him. I don't know what I wanted, but it certainly had to do with him. He continued, "Can I-"

There was a loud ring and soon enough, both Harry and I realized that his cellphone was ringing. Something flashed in his eyes and I realized what we were doing. I felt myself snap out of the trance I was in and so did Harry. He awkwardly looked away and let go of me, allowing me to move back into my seat, with a prominent blush on my cheeks.

Harry cleared his throat awkwardly and answered the phone, while I stared outside of the window. What was I about to do? Was I about to kiss Harry?

The thought settled itself in my brain and I felt guilty. We shouldn't have been that close. Friends are not supposed to be that close to kissing. Moreover, what if someone caught us? Harry would be the talk of the tabloids and I would tarnish Zayn's name.

I hadn't realized when Harry gotten out of the vehicle, until he came around and opened my door for me. Harry and I didn't make eye contact, but nonetheless, I got out of the car and we started walking, side by side.

"What's your favourite ice cream flavour?" He asked me, obviously trying to cut the thick awkwardness in the air.

"Anything, really. But I really like vanilla. It's classic." I replied, with a small smile. "How about you?"

"Ah, my favourite flavour has to be... HoneyComb. It's weird, I know." He stated, making me laugh lightly, "Otherwise, it's mint chocolate chip."

We entered the ice cream parlour and I smiled in satisfaction. There was no one else here, except for Harry and I. We walked up to the front desk and I looked through the digital menu, along with Harry.

"Oh! Have you tried Strawberry Cheesecake?" Harry asked me and I nodded. "Okay, how about Butter Pecan?"

I nodded once again, "Harry, I'm a professional ice-cream enthusiast; I've tasted all of these flavours."

He let out a laugh and his dimples dug deep into his cheeks. "Okay, well have you tried HoneyComb?"

I pursed my lips together and Harry started laughing. "You haven't tried HoneyComb?!" He exclaimed in surprise and I shook my head.

"'I'm a professional ice-cream enthusiast!'" Harry mimicked me and I started laughing at his extra high-pitched voice.

"I don't sound like that!" I whined humorously, while Harry wrapped his arm around my bare shoulders.

"Oh, Ris, you never fail to surprise me." He laughed quietly, and pressed a kiss to my temple, making my heart beat a bit faster than it should've. He shouldn't be doing this.

Eventually, Harry and I got our ice cream. Harry paid, despite the fact that I was trying to pay for my own stuff. Apparently, he was trying to be a 'gentleman'. We decided to go sit on the bench outside.

"So, how's stuff between you and Zayn?" Harry subtly brought up.

I felt myself tense up at Harry's words. What was I supposed to say? We argue everyday and I can't stand him anymore.

"We didn't end things on okay terms, I guess." I replied, taking a huge lick of my ice cream immediately.

"Oh, how come?" Harry asked, genuinely curious.

"The same reason that I was upset with you," I added, licking my ice cream again. "How're things between you and May?"

He was silent for a second and I supposed he was eating his ice cream. "Well, like I told you before, I think I'm gonna propose soon."

I bit my tongue so that I wouldn't say anything rude, as he continued talking.

"I don't really know what I'm supposed to do," he explained. "Like, I know that I get down on one knee and ask 'Will you marry me?', but I don't know how to bring it up."

"Maybe you shouldn't bring it up at all," I mumbled under my breath.

"What's that?" He asked, and I bit my lip, looking straight ahead.

"Oh, nothing," I replied, not wanting to repeat what I said. But then suddenly, something clicked in my head. "Harry, if you and May get married, supposedly, does that make us in-laws?"

He let out an awkward chuckle, causing him to sputter on some ice cream and choke a bit. I let out an unladylike laugh as he scrambled to find a napkin in his pocket, while trying not to laugh. He cleaned off the ice cream from his lips and I had to hold in my laughter once again.

"Well, that's awkward... in-laws?" He added, let a cute chuckle pass his soft-looking lips.

"Tell me about it," I mumbled, eating my cone.

"Mhmm..."

"Yeah..."

We sat in silence for a bit, while I was completely occupied with my HoneyComb flavoured ice-cream. The breeze would pick up, every so often, causing me to tremble because of the cold. I think Harry noticed because he spoke up about it.

"You cold?" He asked, while eyeing me.

I shook my head, but then the breeze picked up, causing me to shudder unexpectedly. Harry smirked knowingly, before telling me to hold his cone.

I watched and then protested when Harry took off his blazer and handed it to me, leaving him in his white dress shirt.

"You look adorable," he gushed with sparkling eyes. He took a bite of his cone and I smiled at him.

"Thanks, Harry." I spoke, while pushing the sleeves up my arms a bit. "This is so cliché."

"What?" Harry questioned, with a dimpled grin.

"You know, guy gives girl his jacket." I explained, continuing to munch on my cone.

"Ah, that's true. I'm a sucker for cheesy stuff though." He admitted, giggling girlishy afterwards.

"Of course you are," I laughed. "Harry, you were right."

"About what?" He asked and I looked at him. The breeze pushed his hair back almost perfectly and his eyes were so beautiful. They were like a Disney prince's eyes.

"HoneyComb is a really good flavour," I admitted.

He smirked at me and nodded, "Told you so."

He kept staring at me and I got self conscious. "Is there something on my face?" I questioned.

He bit his lip to suppress his laughter and nodded. "As a matter of fact, yes there is."

I felt myself blush so I let my hands go up to my face. Harry started laughing at my disoriented state.

"Here, let me get it." He spoke, feeling for his pockets. He pulled out a tissue from his pants' pocket and leaned forward.

Harry swiped the tissue across my chin gently. He smiled amusedly as he continued to wipe upwards and onto the corner of my lips. I watched as his enchanting green eyes met mine and he pulled his hand away.

"Rissa," he spoke. "Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?"

I felt heat on cheeks and, instinctively, I looked away. He laughed gently and I said, "Thank you, Harry. Yours are a really pretty colour."

"Thanks, Ris." He replied, "We're so cheesy."

"My lady," Harry held out his hand, as he held open the car door for me.

I laughed gently and placed my hand in his while getting out of the car. "Thank you, sir."

We walked back towards the entrance and I slid off Harry's blazer and returned it to him. I felt my stomach churning again.

There was another dreadful feeling in the pit of my stomach. I felt sick and something was telling me that something bad was going to happen.

Harry seemed to notice because he placed his hand on my back as we walked back to the hall. I felt tingly, partially because I was scared, but also because Harry was touching me.

Just as we were about to enter the hall, Harry stopped.

"Wait Rissa," he spoke. I turned around and Harry moved closer.

He came so close to me that he rested his hands on my waist. I gulped and took a step back, but my back met the cool wall. Harry's eyes were light, but I could tell he was nervous. I had to double-check that he was on edge because Harry is always so calm and collected.

"You alright?" I asked softly, placing a hand on his shoulder.

He nodded and then bit his lip. "Rissa, I can't do this anymore."

I furrowed my eyebrows and the concern seeped into me. "Can't do what, Harry?"

"I need to tell you." Harry sputtered nervously.

"Tell me what?" I asked, feeling nervous because of his behaviour.

"Whatever I am about to say might ruin whatever we have right now," he informed me and I felt my throat go dry.

"Just tell me," I urged, as he gently squeezed my waist.

Harry took a deep breath and shut his eyes briefly. I watched him carefully as he composed himself.

"Rissa," he said lowly. "I really like you."

I smiled and placed both hands on his shoulders. His body was so close to mine and I felt trapped between the wall and Harry, not that I mind.

"I like you too, Harry," I smiled lightly but he didn't return it.

"You don't understand, Ris." He mumbled, before making direct eye contact. "I like you... Much more than a friend."
