Chapter 15
We ran through the halls, or, because of injuries, hobbled across the building. But what are we going to do? We don't even know where we are, until I see it. The huge room with the boxes. And I recognized it.
I'm guessing do did Jacob because we looked at each other with wide eyes. "Emily..."
We were in the marina, where our dad worked. "I know how to get out from here," I said, guiding them through the massive columns of boxes. I had come two weeks ago and these weren't here...
All of a sudden I hear the pounding of rock, so I peek around a box. There were two earth shadows and a lava lighter. There was one of those cages nearby, I'm guessing thats where they keep it. I looked at Taylor, and Chris. "I can fight, the effects are practically gone," he assured.
"Alright, I'll take the lava lighter," Taylor said. "Sorry but, never caught your name," Chris said.
"It's taylor,"she replied. Chris's eyes showed recognition. "I remember you! We went to kindergarten together!" He exclaimed. "Oh yeah! Hey, remember when you-"
He gave her a look and she shut up. She looked apologetic. "Oh, yeah, no embarrassing stories in front of your girlfriend," she said, holding in a laugh. "Girlfriend?!" We shouted at the same time.
Yea, we shouted. I clamped my hand over my mouth. I nodded to go.
The earth shadows heard us alright. Before we even left the safety of the box, lava and rock was being thrown. "By the way, all earth shadows control rock, while only some lava. Like how all sea whisps control seaweed, but some water," Chris said.
We ran out, I took on this brown haired boy while Chris took on this blond. Wait a second... It was Sam and the kid he clobbered!
"Sam?" I asked. At the sound of his name taylor turned.
"Sam!" She screamed.
"Taylor!"
The blond looked between the two. "You did clobber me! You traitor... Your a sea whisp!" He exclaimed. But taylor didn't notice the lava lighter was about to hit her with a jet of lava.
"No..." I gasped. Sam's eyes went wide and he used a jet if water to propel himself forward, than ran in front of the lava jet.
Taylor screamed, a horrible, wrenching scream. The scream of watching someone you love die.
Watching them die right before your eyes.
The lava jet him him right in the chest and he fell to the floor, lifeless.
Everyone in the room froze, except for Taylor, who dropped to her knees. Someone, I'm not sure who, shot a jet of water to the lava lighter, pushing it to the cage. It automatically locked.
Chris made a water stream and froze the blond to the wall then put the Lilly pollen on his nose. We silently turned our attention to taylor.
Sam's body was blackened and smoldering, he gave his life for someone he loves, and it couldn't help but remind me of my mom. "I didn't even say goodbye..." Taylor sobbed. Chris wrapped his hand through mine and pulled me in for a hug. I hadn't realized I was crying.
But I have to say, I've seen many things, and that was on of the worst. There seems to be death surrounding wherever I go. I'm just so tired of it.
Chris parted from me and walked to taylor. "Come on..."
"No!"
They kept arguing until I remembered Jacob.
"J-Jacob!?" I called. I walked back to the box and saw him crying behind it. We immediately pulled in for a hug. "What' happening?"
"I don't know,"
He pulled away, all tears gone. "You didn't see..." I blinked, taking in his words. "See what?" I asked. "Someone pushed the lava lighter in a cage," he said. "...yea," I said, unsure of where this was going. "With a jet of water?" He asked, making sure I saw. "Yes!" I said. "But you didn't see who shot it?" He asked. "No, I didn't," I said.
"I did," he said, "I shot the jet of water,"
