Shadows in the Trees

What inspired your novel? 

Cleopatra, actually. I did a project on her and I found out how awesome she was. I wanted to write a character based on her in a fantasy novel, and then my story just expanded around that.

How long have you been working on it?

Oh jeez...unofficially probably like two years, officially writing just one year.

About how many words is it? 

I'm at about 100,000 right now I think.

Can you relate to any of your characters? 

Yeah for sure. I think I relate to Freya or the Captain the most. I've always struggled to fit in and find my crowd and who I am, and they both struggle with that as well.

What's your favorite food and why? 

Ice cream. It's perfect! I don't know I just love the texture of it and I like that it's cold and sweet (I have a huge sweet tooth).

What's your spirit animal? 

A chameleon I think.
