How was your experience of judging in the Just One Day Awards?

It was brilliant. I got to know three different types of authors. And honestly, all of them are great in their ways. It helped me realize how good some stories are and how blatantly ignored they are. Honestly saying, some stories don't get the attention they deserve which upsets me. Because I see plotless smut books with barely any grammar and any character attachment gain more views than them. Smut books are fine, but not when they don't make sense.

Overall, my judging experience was one of realization, and of course, it was fun.

What's your take on healthy awards or competitions?

There are numerous awards and competitions where the judges or the hosts dishearten the participants or blatantly criticize them based on their personal opinions and not objective marking. It disheartens me. How can people even think it's okay to put someone down based on these stories? Some people don't write to get famous here or something, they write for fun. And it isn't always going to be something they like.

So I believe that healthy awards and competitions are much needed and they help the new authors and participants to realize their shortcomings without degradation which is a great thing.

All in all, healthy awards and competitions are one of the beautiful aspects of this community.

PS: Whenever judging books, stick to the host's criteria but please never be harsh. There's a difference between blatant disregard and constructive criticism. And people enter awards for constructive criticism.

What was the first book you liked after joining Wattpad? And why?

The first book I got recommended when I downloaded Wattpad was "Forbidden Desire". And I fell in love with the book. The plot, the writing style, the emotions, and the characters were phenomenal. I still follow the author jikookie17 even though she stopped writing fanfictions now because all of her stories are great. It doesn't feel like you're reading a fanfiction, it's like reading a novel. And from then on I came across many many phenomenal writers on this platform.

What inspired you to begin writing?

I started reading novels in lockdown. This was the time when I got interested in writing stories as well. But that wasn't the only thing. I've been writing poems, short stories, and songs for about 4 years now. When somebody complimented those little efforts of mine, I got boosted to write more. And when I learned about fanfictions, I had ideas blooming in my mind. I had half uploaded one on YouTube too. Then I can across Wattpad, where I read stories and as soon as I joined, I started writing too.

What suggestions would you give the authors from your writing journey?

I'm not good enough yet to suggest anything worthwhile to people. But there's one thing I'd say, write for yourself, love your own stories. Because if you're writing stories only for views or because you want others to read them, and love them, you can't get that. Because for anyone else to like something of yours, you need to be confident about it first. All in all, love your work and try getting better each time you write.
