Philosophy

I LOVE Philosophy!

Right now, I'm reading a philosophy book that describes a wide variety of philosophies and discusses the many philosophers who followed them.

I'm learning more about the philosopher Augustine of Hippo. He proposed that evil is simply the absence of good. I want to continue learning about him, since he was a Christian philosopher that tried to prove God in many ways.

I'm incredibly intrigued by moral philosophy. I almost discussed moral philosophy with a group in English, but it got a little awkward. After all, I was the only Christian in the group, maybe the only Christian in the whole school (just kidding).

I'm always trying to develop theories to prove the existence of objective morality. Objective morality is where one absolute moral law exists, and good and evil are clearly defined.
This is one way I prove the existence of this concept:

-Subjective morality means good and evil are up to one's own interpretation.
-A person with power acquires the ability to make laws that determine what actions are good/evil.
-A person with power also acquires the ability to punish people who defy these laws.
-However, power corrupts people and twists their morality. Throughout history, corrupt leaders have created unfair and immoral laws. In addition, morally good people have been punished for breaking corrupt laws.
-Therefore, it is not correct for people with power to create their own ideas about good and evil.

That's how I prove the existence of objective morality in a nutshell.

Let me know your philosophies! I love philosophical discussions, and I'd love to learn about your ideas.

Love and Peace,
Arkada
