CHAPTER 19
Dedicated to ifemide and Hannastashia Adebola looked at her daughter unconscious on the floor and She felt vulnerable. She picked up her phone, left the room and took to her heels. She did not know where she was going but she kept running.
After 3 hours, she stopped running. She didn't know that she ran for that Long until she checked her phone. It was one o' clock in the morning. The streets were empty and very dark. She was getting scared because she didn't know where she was. She was so confused and she called the first person that came to her mind. He picked on the third ring.
"Hi," She said softly.
"Hey, what's up?" Olaoluwa asked as he sorted out the files in his study. He wasn't asleep yet. He was going through some files pertaining to a murder case that occurred the day before.
"Are you busy?"
"Not really,what is it?"
"Can you pick me up?" Adebola asked as she played with her fingers.
"Where are you? Are you okay?"
"I don't know,I think I am a little bit far from my estate. I am beside Foodie restaurant,"
"Alright, just wait there,I'll be there in thirty minutes," Olaoluwa said as he picked his car keys from the table.
Thirty minutes later, Olaoluwa got to Foodie restaurant and saw Adebola sitting by the road.
"Hey, how are you?" Olaoluwa asked
"Erm, something happened and I.....I....I don't know, please just take me to St John hospital," Adebola asked.
"Are you okay?" Olaoluwa asked in deep concern
"Yeah,I am. My daughter is there,"
"Oh my God, what is wrong with her?"
"Er.....erm....she....." Adebola stammered as she stared at the floor.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me," Olaoluwa said gently.
"Cocaine," Adebola said softly.
"Cocaine?"
"Yeah, apparently my sister takes cocaine and erm....I .....don't know how Modurotoluwa found it but we found her in Adeire room, unconscious with cocaine in her mouth," Adebola said in tears. Olaoluwa bent down to hugged her.
"I don't even know what to do. I am so mad at them. Why will my daughter take cocaine? Why will Adeire take cocaine in the house?" Adebola said as she sobbed into Olaoluwa's chest.

Adeire dialled Chinonso's number for the tenth dial and groaned in frustration as it went to voicemail. She sat quietly at the corridor of the hospital waiting for the doctor with her family. Her dad, mum, brother and Helena were also there. Nobody had said anything about the drugs yet. She had also sent text messages to Chinonso but he didn't reply. She looked up and saw Chinonso coming close to her and she stood up in relief. She wanted someone who understood her to be with her because she was scared.
"Hey,are you okay? I saw your text messages?"
"No,i am not,"
"It's okay...........you..."
"I thought I paid you to help her," Temilola said interrupted angrily immediately she saw Chinonso.
"Good evening ma,I......"
"I paid you to help her stop using drugs, why are you a therapist if you can't help a single patient," Temilola said close to tears.
"Mum, what are you saying?" Adeire said in dismay.
"Baby,I knew you were using drugs but i was waiting for you to tell us," Temilola said close to tears.
"You knew?" Adebayo, Aderenle and Adeire said.
"One of the maids told me and I saw the drugs myself when I searched your room. Then,I paid him to help you but clearly,he didn't," Temilola said as she glared at Chinonso.
"Is this true?" Adeire asked Chinonso angrily.
"I can explain," Chinonso said as he attempted to hold Adeire.
"Is it true?" She asked again as tears dropped freely from her eyes.
"Yes," Chinonso said as he lowered his head.
"So you were never a drug addict, all those stories, everything was a lie?" Adeire asked.
"Please let me explain," Chinonso pleaded.
"Please leave," Adeire said bitterly.
"Adeire, please.."
"She asked you to leave," Aderenle said as he raised his voice and Chinonso obeyed. Aderenle moved closer to his sister and hugged her.
"It's okay," He whispered as he patted her back gently.
"Mummy told me that he was a teacher," Adeire said as she sobbed into her brother's chest.
"I know,it's okay," Aderenle said.

Adebola walked into the hospital with Olaoluwa by her side. She went to the nurse at the reception to asked where her daughter was. After, the nurse told her,she proceeded to the location.
"I have to go now, I'll be back early tomorrow to see Modurotoluwa," Olaoluwa said.
"Thank you so much," Adebola said giving him a hug.
"Take care of yourself," Olaoluwa said as he returned the hug. He left the hospital to return to his work at home. Adebola walked to her daughter's room and she saw her family at the corridor of the room. Her father saw her first and he stood up to hug her.
"Adebola mi," Adebayo said and Adebola smiled as her father called her the name he used to call her when she was younger.
"Where were you?" Temilola asked in concern.
"Mum, I am so sorry for making you worry about me," Adebola said as she hugged her mummy.
Aderenle moved closer to his sister and hugged her too. Helena stood up also to hug her and she said,
"You'll be fine,"
"Thank you so much Helena," Adebola said with a smile.
"Sister B,I am so sorry," Adeire said in tears.
"Really, you want me to listen to you now right? Adeire why didn't you tell us," Adebola said in anger.
"I was scared and ashamed,"
"Why?" Aderenle asked.
"Because I am nothing like you and sister B. You are successful, hardworking and everything I am not. I am so sorry but drugs were the only thing that I could turn to,"
"Adeire, that is not an excuse. We could have talked about it," Adebayo reprimanded.
"Daddy, you were always busy and mum too."
"Was I busy too?" Adebola asked raising her voice.
"No," Adeire said gently.
"Then you don't have any excuse," Adebola said.
"It's okay but I don't think I can forgive you now," Adebola said bitterly.
"Adeire, you have three days to pack your things because you are going to Florida to stay with my sister. You will go to a rehab and I expect you to be serious with it,after that you will continue your education. I don't want see you in Nigeria till you are done with your education," Adebayo ordered and Adeire nodded.
"Bayo, please give at least one month to prepare. We can't just let her go like that," Temilola pleaded.
"This is a punishment and she has to obey," Adebayo said sternly.
""But dad," Aderenle protested.
"My decision is final," Adebayo said and everyone nodded.

Adebola sat quietly at the doctor's office as he sorted needed to tell Adebola about her daughter's condition. Her family left at dawn to take care of other things and her daughter hadn't woken up yet. The doctor picked a file and opened it. He said,
"Mrs Adebola Adeleke,"
"Miss," Adebola corrected.
"My bad, Miss Adebola Adeleke, your daughter took enough cocaine to make her pass out and for now,we can't say what will happen to her. This might affect her cognitive abilities, cause Tremors,Muscle twitches or Paranoia,Vertigo,Constricted blood vessels,Dilated pupils, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure,
Increased body temperature. She is stable for now but we have to observe her for some days before we discharge her and I advise you bring her here monthly," The doctor said.
"Okay doctor, thank you so much," Adebola replied.
"Please make sure this doesn't repeat itself if not I'll have to refer you and your daughter to the social work service. I'll would have sent you there immediately but I have been your family doctor since you were little,so I'll allow you to sort this out," The doctor instructed and Adebola nodded.
"That'll be all for now,"
"Thank you sir. I really appreciate you," Adebola said as she left the doctor's office. She walked slowly to her daughter's room. Her father paid for one of the most expensive rooms in the hospital for her daughter to be comfortable. When she got to her daughter's room, she saw her daughter and Olaoluwa watching a cartoon that was showing on the mini TV in the room. They were laughing together and she couldn't help but smile because of how adorable they looked.
"Hey," Adebola said softly.
"How are you?" Olaoluwa asked in concern looking into her eyes and Adebola shrugged in response.
"Mummy,I am sorry," Modurotoluwa said close to tears.
"Really, you are sorry? Modurotoluwa I don't even know what to say to you. Why? When did you start going to people's room to steal things? I will surely punish you for this. Do you know the implication of what you did? You could have been taken away from me. What is wrong with you?"
"Mummy,I am sorry. I did not know it was harmful," Modurotoluwa said sobbing heavily and Adebola sighed as she went to hug her.
"It's okay sweetie. Have you eaten?" Adebola asked.
"No mummy, I don't like the hospital food. It is too greasy," Modurotoluwa complained.
"Okay, what do you want to eat?"
"I want Coco pops," Modurotoluwa said and Olaoluwa laughed.
"Okay baby. I'll send a message to Jane to bring it for you?" Adebola said as she started texting.
"You haven't fixed the screen of your phone?" Olaoluwa asked.
Yeah,it's just a little crack and I don't have the time to fix it." Adebola said.
"Then let me fix it, it will just take few hours," Olaoluwa said and Adebola shook her head in disagreement.
"Fine, let me make it up to you. Dinner?"
"Hmmm," Adebola said smiling.
"Please," Olaoluwa pouted.
"Fine but that will be after my daughter is discharged,"
"That's okay by me," Olaoluwa said as his attention shifted back to the Television.
************************************
Adebola folded the blanket gently and put it into the travel bag that was used to pack the the things Modurotoluwa needed at the hospital. Her daughter was going to be discharged the next day and she didn't want to forget anything at the hospital. She heard her phone ring and smiled when the saw her brother's name display on the screen.
"Hey,what's up?" She said after picking up the phone.
"Adeire is going today,"
"I thought she was going tommorow, what happened?" Adebola asked as she placed her phone between her ear and her shoulder so that she could continue to pack her daughter things.
"I don't know but won't you speak to her before she goes?"
"What do you want me to say to her?"
"Sister B, you are taking this too far. It was not intentional," Aderenle said raising his voice.
"I never said it was intentional and I think we should postpone this conversation to when you are ready to talk without raising your voice." Adebola replied sternly.
"I am sorry for raising my voice but you need to see her. She is neither eating nor talking to anyone. She didn't even come out of her room. Please talk to her," Aderenle pleaded.
"Fine, stop by the hospital on your way to the airport and I'll speak to her,"
"Thank you so much," Aderenle said as he sighed in relief.
Few hours later, Adebola heard a knock on the door and she knew it was her siblings. Adeire walked in gently with her eyes on the floor. She looked lean in the off shoulder top and denim shorts she wore. Aderenle walked in behind her and sat on a chair by the bed. Adebola walked to her sister and hugged her.
"I am so sorry," Adeire said as she burst into tears.
"It's okay. It was not your fault," Adebola said as she patted her back gently.
After few minutes, Adeire stopped crying and Adebola pulled out a chair for her to sit.
"I know you are going through a lot right now but I want you to know that Aderenle and I are here for you."
"Thank you so much. I am sorry for not telling you," Adeire said as she played with her fingers.
"It's okay honey. Promise me you'll do well in the rehab and in school," Adebola said as she held her sister's hands.
"Fine, if you do well, I will fulfill a wish for you,"
"Are you serious?" Adeire said as her face lit up.
" Yes,I am." Adebola replied smiling.
"As much as I will love this to go on,we need to go so you won't miss your flight," Aderenle said.
"I'll miss you. Call me when you get there," Adebola said as she hugged her sister tightly.
"I will. Give Modurotoluwa a kiss for me when she wakes up, I love you," Adeire replied.
"C'mon we have to go. "Aderenle said and Adebola released her sister from the hug. Aderenle pulled Adeire and they left the room.
************************************
Adebola felt a movement in the room. She opened her eyes and saw a doctor. He was wearing a face mask, lab coat and a face cap. Adebola looked at the wall clock and it was three o clock in the morning. She saw the doctor pull out a syringe and she said politely,
"Excuse me, I think you have the wrong patient. My daughter does not need any medication. The doctor said she is already stable,"
The man nodded but still continued to use the syringe to pull out a liquid from a glass bottle.
"Please can you stop,I won't allow you to inject my daughter with something I don't know. Can you show me your ID card," Adebola said. The man chuckled and Adebola sensed danger. She pressed the button on the drawer next to Modurotoluwa with haste to alert the nurses. A red alarm started blaring from the room and this startled the man. He pushed Adebola out of his way and ran out of the room.
"Please,go after him. Don't let him escape," Adebola said to the nurses as she tried to get up.
