Adebola placed her head on the hospital bed and sobbed gently.  Modurotoluwa was asleep and her family members had gone home. Her mother wanted to stay with her but Adebola refused. She needed a time alone with her daughter.
She felt a hand on her hair and she raised her head up. She saw her daughter looking at her and she quickly wiped her tears.
"Baby, why are you not sleeping?"
"Mummy, please stop crying. I promise I'll be good," Modurotoluwa said.
"Oh no baby,mummy is not crying,she is just a little bit tired. What is wrong? Did I disturb you?"
"No mummy, I am scared. Let's go home,"
"Sweetie,we can't go home now, it's late. We will go home tomorrow,"
"Okay mummy,I love you,"
"I love you too darling. Should I sleep next to you?"  Adebola asked and her daughter nodded.

Adeire threw her pillow at the wall angrily. She was unable to sleep. She put on her reading lamp and sat up on her bed. She took a book and read it for few minutes. She got bored and stood up, picked her pillow and left the room. She went to her brother's room and knocked quietly. She knocked again when she did not hear anything  and this time her brother opened the door.
"What is it?" He asked as he scratched his eyes.
"I can't sleep,"
"Why,what is wrong? Are you okay?"He asked in deep concern.
"I don't know. I.......er..........I am scared. What if the people that shot Modurotoluwa is somewhere in the house?"Adeire said tearfully. Aderenle held her hands and they both entered his room.
"Sit down and I want you to listen to me," He said and she nodded.
"This house is safe. There is no bad person in this house. We have to be strong for Sister B. I'll stay with you tonight,so don't be scared,"
Adeire went to the bed and laid down. Aderenle tucked her in and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
"I love you,"She said .
"I love you too,"

Aderenle walked into his office and smiled when he saw Helena. She was sorting some files and looked so serious. She was humming a tune as she was doing it. Aderenle coughed slightly and she raised her head.
"I...."  Both of them said and they burst into laughter.
" Ladies first," Aderenle said and Helena smiled.
"Fine,what I said was so insensitive. I was just confused. I......er........ It is so difficult, I can't do it Sir. I am so scared,What will people say? I turned my boyfriend in? That I am heartless? That........." She said in one breath and Aderenle moved close to her.
"Listen to me,you don't have to do it but I am so worried. He might harm you or even kill you. Helena,I can't imagine what will happen to me if something bad happens to you. I care about you and I want you to be safe. Is your house safe?"
"Er..... I guess so,"
" I am installing an alarm system in your house so if any one breaks in it will alert the police," Aderenle said firmly.
"Why are you doing this? I am just your secretary,"  Helena said softly.
" You are also someone I care about," Aderenle said as he moved closer to her. He put his hand on her cheeks and placed his lips on hers. As she wanted to kiss him back, somebody opened the door and they moved apart immediately. It was Mr Adebayo Adeleke.
"Aderenle to my office now!"He ordered as he stormed out of the office and Aderenle followed immediately.
"What is wrong with you?" Mr Adebayo said angrily when they got to his office.
"Dad,I am sorry,"
"Sorry for your self, why are you so irresponsible? What is your problem? Someone is threatening your sister and your niece and you are flirting with your secretary,"
"Dad, I......."
"Shut up!"  Adebayo walked to his table, took a file and threw it at his son.
"We lost the contract. Aderenle you had one job, present the proposal and you couldn't do it effectively. I am seizing your car keys and credit cards,"
" Dad,I worked hard for them. They are mine,you can't seize them. I am not a child anymore,"  Aderenle said frowning.
"Fine,wait and see what I can do," Adebayo said.
"Dad I am sorry, I'll work harder,"
"Get out of my office. You are also suspended for two weeks,"
"Dad....."
"Get out,"

It was dinner time and the Adelekes were seated eating their food quietly. The table was decorated with flowers while the food was placed in nice dishes.  There was a large bowl of white rice,with different little bowls containing Efo riro (vegetable), Banga soup,fish stew and egg sauce. There were also plates containing beef and fish.
Modurotoluwa coughed slightly and that caught everybody's attention.
"Are you okay,do you want grandpa to feed you?" Adebayo asked and Modurotoluwa nodded.
"Grandpa, I want to go to the park tomorrow," She asked as she chewed her food gently.
"Sure, do you want grandpa to come with you?"
"Dad,she can't go. I can't allow her to," Adebola protested.
"Why? There will be guards with her and if she wants,your dad and I can go with her," Temilola said.
"Mum,there were guards with her when she was shot. I can't allow my daughter to go anywhere," Adebola said.
"Mummy I want to go,"
"Sweetie you can't go anywhere," Adebola said and her siblings nodded in agreement.
"No, I want to go,I want to go," Modurotoluwa cried out as she threw her plate on the floor.
"What is wrong with you?"
"I want to go out,Aunty Adeire tell mummy to take me to the park,"
"Sweetie,it's dangerous," Adeire said gently.
"I hate all of you," Modurotoluwa said as she ran to her room.
"I'll talk to her,"Aderenle said as he followed Modurotoluwa.
"Mum,dad,I am sorry." Adebola said.
"It's not your fault," Temilola said.

"I was just there looking,I couldn't do anything. I support my sister, It is too dangerous for her to go out," Adeire said as she ranted to Chinonso on the phone.
"Adeire you need to calm down. How do you expect your sister to behave if you are doing like this? You need to be strong for your sister,"
"That is what everyone is saying but I don't know how to. I want to support her but how will I? I am so scared,"
"You'll be fine,okay. You have to take baby steps. I'll come by tomorrow,"
"Okay,thank for listening,"
"Yeah,I am always here for you," Chinonso said and Adeire smiled as she hung up. She held the sound of the door and she looked up. Adebola walked in into her room and sat next to her.
"I overheard your conversation. Adeire, you are here for me. You understand me,you support me and that is enough for me."
"But sister B..."
"No buts, I love you so much and I know this sounds weird but I'll protect you. You are very important to me and I will make sure nothing happens to you." Adebola said firmly and Adeire said with tears in her eyes.
"How is Modurotoluwa?"
"Hmmm,she doesn't want to talk to me yet but I know she will tommorow,,"
"I love you Sister B,"
"I love you too honey. Should we watch a movie and sleep next to each other?"
"Yes," Adeire nodded in excitement.

"Where the hell is he?"  The man shouted and the culprit entered.
"You had one job,kill her,"
"I couldn't,she is a little girl,"
"Fine,then you will pay with your life," The man said as he shot the man.
