VI

"Is that so, sweetheart?" Bellamy asked, cocky as ever. I rolled my eyes.

"Yes."

Murphy had been uncharacteristically quiet during our conversation and I risked a glance at him.

"Since when are we in the rescuing business?" He asked. Damn it, I jinxed it.

"The Ark thinks the prince is dead. Once they think the princess is, too, they'll never follow us down," Bellamy replied, huffing. I looked sideways at him. Had he already forgotten that I was standing right beside him or?

"I'm getting that damn wristband. Even if I have to cut off her hand to do it," he hissed, walking faster. I raised a brow.

"Yeah, good luck with that," I chuckled. Both boys pretended not to hear me.

"I need to talk to you," Bellamy turned and looked at me. He seemed angry and I wondered what the hell was his problem? What did I do to him?

"What is it?" I asked cautiously. I clenched his jaw and his eyes flickered between me and Clarke.

"My sister," he started, "got hurt while under your supervision. I asked you specifically to keep her safe," he said with a disappointed tone.

"Well, sorry, but your sister isn't really obedient, as I'm sure you know and I couldn't really tell her what to do. She didn't listen to me," I reasoned, trying to get myself out of whatever I was in now.

""Sorry" isn't going to cut it," he said, gorgeous brown eyes staring into mine.

"What do you want me to do? I can't really go back in time and stop it from happening," I said.

"How about your wristband? Tell you what, you take it off and were even. I won't make your life a living hell and you don't owe me anything," he smirked, watching me carefully for my reaction. Murphy was also listening quite closely.

"I don't actually owe you anything," I said, wrapping my hand around my bracelet nervously.

"But you do," he pressed.

"I really don't," I tried to change his mind. To no avail, of course.

"Is there anything you want? In exchange for the wristband, of course. I can get you anything," he suggested. I felt my face scrunch up in confusion. I wanted food but no one had any.

"Like what?"

"Materials, positions, weapons, sex," he listed. Upon the last option he smirked and I saw Murphy look my body up and down. I felt anger roll over me like a tsunami. How fucking dare they?!

I slapped Bellamy across the face, and upon hearing the satisfying lightning-like crack of skin against skin, I stepped away from him.

"I'm not some fucking whore! You can't sell me for what you want, you fucking asshole. I hope you rot in hell," I seethed, watching as his cheek turned an angry red. There was a dark imprint of my hand that was sure to bruise soon.

I stalked away from the two, glaring as Murphy smirked at me, looking at my body once more. I ignored Wells' questioning look and just kept walking. I had no idea where I was going but anywhere was better than being near those two.

The thing is, that I actually had a little respect for him. I thought it was admirable that he would come all this way to protect his sister. I thought, that underneath all the careless attitude and immaturity, that he might be a decent person.

"Alex," I heard Clarke yell. I stopped walking and wiped my eyes. Wait, when did I start crying?

She appeared in front of me, a confused look on her face.

"Where are you going?" She asked, looking in the direction I had been heading. I shrugged. Behind her, I could see Wells, Bellamy and Murphy watching us intently. I quickly averted my eyes when Murphy smirked at me.

"Yeah, sweetheart, where are you going?" He sniggered, greasy hair in his eyes. I glared at him, feeling the anger and rage return.

"Looking for Jasper," I answered Clarke through gritted teeth.

Before she could reply, I saw Finn appear from the bushes. Thankfully, he saw that there was an uncomfortable vibe in the area and he saved me.

"You call this a rescue mission? You have to split up, cover more ground. Clarke, with me."

Clarke smiled at him, my momentary freakout forgotten and followed him. I shook my head.

"Wells, be on my team?" I asked, eager to get away from those pigs as soon as possible. He nodded and walked over to me. I nodded at him and we began to walk.

"Whats the matter, sweetheart? Don't like us?"

I ignored Murphy's taunting and Wells and I split off from the other two groups and moved through the trees to the left of everyone else.

"Are you alright?" I asked him, sensing that something was off.

"I'm fine. I'm just... frustrated," he answered, glancing back at Bellamy and Murphy. I knew the feeling.

"Did they do something to you while the rest of us were gone?"

"Nothing too bad. I'll be alright."

I pursed my lips and took a deep breath. There wasn't any point focussing on what the two of them had said or done because whats done is done and theres no way to fix it. What we all needed to focus on was finding Jasper. God knows what they're doing to him.

"I hope Monty gets those wristbands to work," he said finally.

"Yes, it would be great to talk to the Ark. We need supplies," I added, thinking about how we still had not had any food. I still wasn't sure how Monty was going to use the wristbands to talk to the Ark but I figure that if anyone can do it, he can.

I fiddled with my own wristband offhandedly. The metal was cold to the touch and I could feel the small transmitting needles move under my skin. It was painful.

"Alex," I heard Clarke call. Together, Wells and I hurried over to where we thought she was. We moved out of the thick of the trees and saw her and Finn standing together. They looked concerned. I felt my brow crease with worry.

"We were thinking," Clarke said to us once we joined them. "Why didn't the Grounders attack us before? Its not like we were being quiet... and we were out in the open."

"Yeah, so?"

"They waited for us to cross," she supplied, obviously waiting for me to get it. I thought for a moment. That didn't make any sense... not unless...

"The river is a boundary, isn't it?" Shit. That meant that Mount Weather must be a no-go zone. What was there? Why wouldn't they want us in there? Were they hiding something? I felt a familiar fear creep its way into my bones. What are they hiding?

"Wait, what are we going to do for food if we cant get the damn supplies?" I asked, hearing the fear slide into my voice. I swallowed thickly.

"I don't know but we cant keep wasting our time. We need to find Jasper," she pressed, walking forward. Almost immediately she stopped again.
