Chapter 4:Raid

A rebel gunship flew over a Tudor convoy. The gunship fired on the escorting vehicles, which fired back, shaking it. Missiles destroyed two of the 6 aerial defense vehicles. Two more rebel gunships joined the first, and destroyed the remaining four. Rebel soldiers dropped down from the gunships, which stayed over the convoy, on a lookout for any Tudor warships.

Alenar saw the convoy speeding towards him. He warped the train tracks into a wall of steel. As the train neared him, he pushed the air between it and the wall forward, slowing the train down. The steel wall absorbed the rest of the impact, and the train stopped. The rebel soldiers on top opened the hatches, and jumped down. Alenar followed them to the cargo hold, where Tudor soldiers and two Inquisitors were waiting for them.

The Inquisitors released volleys of darts, which slew many rebels, but Alenar transformed the rest into a sword, with which he deflected another volley. The Inquisitors attacked him with their electro guns and explosives. Alenar blew off the car roof, and sent the Inquisitors out of the train, onto open ground. They sent metal balls at him, some of which exploded, though the Tauron raised an earth wall, absorbing the energy into it.

The Tauron attacked with his sword, while simultaneously transforming the ground under their feet. The Inquisitors leapt away, barely getting out of the water in time. They closed the distance, not letting the Tauron use his powers. Alenar deflected their strikes and slam kicked one in the gut, pushing him away. He ducked under the other's cleave and jammed his fingers into her exposed neck.

As Alenar prepared to finish her, he sensed danger. He ducked under a volley of darts and evaded a cable. He deflected several more darts with his sword and turned them into ice, before turning them against him. The Inquisitor's armor tanked most of the damage, but an icicle found his forehead, and another struck his neck, digging deep into the flesh. Alenar ended his misery with a stab to the chest, in an opening between the steel plates. The leather, tough though it was, was no match against a sword, and the blade pierced the Inquisitor's heart.

The other Inquisitor had recovered, and attacked Alenar with ferocity, wielding her comrade's sword in conjunction with her own. Alenar blocked her attacks and shoved her away. He pressed his own assault, and inserted the tip of his sword through the ring guard of one of hers. With a flick of his wrist, he twisted her arm at an awkward angle, forcing her to drop the weapon.

Left with only one sword, she abandoned all sense of self preservation, and attacked, her sword descending in a high arc. Alenar sidestepped and let the blade slide along his own. She attacked again, and he pulled her by her sword arm, throwing her off balance. He snapped her arm and locked her head in place, facing the sky. She elbowed him, but he locked her other arm and brought the pommel of his sword down on her neck, crushing her windpipe.

The rebel soldiers killed the remaining Tudor. Cables descended from the hovering gunships, which they tied around the crates in the cargo hold. The cables were pulled back, and the crates lifted onto the gunships. The 9 remaining soldiers followed them. Alenar activated his comlink. "Admiral, the cargo is secure. Ready for pickup", he said. "We are on our way. There is a Tudor task force incoming. Get away as far as you can", Admiral Taal replied.

Alenar got on the nearest gunship, and they sped forth, away from the train. Almost immediately, they were fired on by two Tudor destroyers and several squadrons of fighters. Their aft gunners responded, taking down several of them, though the rest kept up the chase.

At last, a rebel cruiser appeared ahead of them, escorted by four fighter squadrons. The larger rebel warship distracted the Tudor destroyers. The destroyers attacked it from the flanks, but the cruiser's thick armor plating protected it from most of their shots. The destroyers were not sufficiently armed to take on a rebel cruiser, even with 2 against 1. At least 4 were needed, due to the destroyers mostly being armed by anti fighter cannons, with only 10 of their 70 cannons meant to fight larger ships, all spread out on the stern, starboard side, port side and bow. The rebel cruiser, in contrast, was armed with 40 heavy cannons, and 50 light cannons, powerful enough to take on no less than four destroyers and still come out on top.

The rebel fighters made quick work of their Tudor counterparts, being more maneuverable and better armed.

The gunships entered the cruiser's hangar, followed by the 38 rebel fighters. Of the 60 Tudor fighters, only 26 remained, and both destroyers were severely damaged, many of their cannons smoking, fiery wrecks.
