Chapter 1:First Assignment

30 years later...

Kaleor, his sister Ralea, and their friends, Luran and Teira, entered Commander Lok's office.

"What is it, sir?" said Luran. The Commander pointed to a pile of documents on his desk. "There were rumors of Tauron presence in Eitar. You are to investigate, and if the rumors are true, wipe them out. This is your first assignment. If you succeed, and I have no doubt you will, you will have proved to me that you are competent. Be alert, however. The Tauron are not as numerous as they were so long ago, but they are still dangerous", Commander Lok said. The Inquisitors left the office.

Kaleor donned his armor, a metal studded leather jacket, spiked shoulder pauldrons, vambraces, soft leather gauntlets, greaves, and an open faced spiked helmet. He belted his sword and a retractable metal cane, and lastly, an electro gun and a pouch of electric grenades. He, Ralea, Luran and Teira went to the hangar, and hopped on their speeders. They set off towards Eitar.

When they arrived, they parked their speeders in a military hangar, and proceeded to the square.

They each pressed a button on their vambraces. The projections that materialized on small viewing screens showed a bio scan of the square. The vast majority of the residents were represented by red dots, though three were green, blue and purple respectively. They quickened their pace, drawing their swords.

The people around them parted, giving them a wide berth.

Sensing them, the Tauron turned. One of them, the tallest of the three, stepped forth.

"Run. I will find you later", said the Tauron. The blue and purple dots moved away.

The people in the square gathered around them.

"Teira, Ralea, go after them. We shall handle this one", said Luran, drawing several electric grenades. They nodded, and took off after them. The Tauron stopped them, however. Earth fists that seemingly materialized out of empty air, slammed into them.

Luran hurled several electric grenades, but the Tauron converted the earth fists into a shield, and the electricity dispersed through it. He turned the ground under him into ice, making him stumble and froze him in place. Kaleor rushed at the mage, releasing a volley of darts from one vambrace, and a steel cable out of the other. Teira and Ralea exploited the distraction, and chased after the other two Tauron.

The Tauron blocked the darts and evaded the cable. In his hands, materialized a glaive, with which he sliced through the cable, and the darts Kaleor released next seemed to disappear into thin air. Kaleor barely managed to dodge in time, as he heard something whistle through the air behind him. He deflected the darts with his sword, and drew the retractable cane. He snapped his wrist back, and the cane lengthened, now around 5 feet long. He attached it to his sword, and attacked, while at the same time sending several darts at Luran, cracking the ice. Luran broke out of his restraints, and joined him. Together, they fought the Tauron.

The blue dot stopped suddenly, and the purple slowed down.

"Tailen, we have to keep moving", said Akala. "I have an idea, but I will need you to reinforce me", Tailen replied. "Alright", she said. Tailen felt her enter hid mind, aiding his concentration. He focused, conjuring a few small tornadoes, which he pushed towards the approaching Inquisitors.

Teira saw one of the Tauron wielding air, and aimed her vambrace at a nearby tree branch. As the wind came, she released a cable, and sprung up, barely evading the tornado. Ralea managed to tie herself to the trunk of another tree. Fortunately, the wind was not strong enough to dislodge her cable, though it pushed her back, straining it.

The dots started moving again, and they followed.

Luran attacked with a cable, wrapping it around the Tauron's arm. Kaleor attacked with renewed vigor, his glaive hammering down on the mage's defenses. The Tauron ducked under a cleave and struck him with an earth fist. He pushed him away, and sent Luran to the ground. They attacked again, forcing him to defend with his glaive.

Suddenly, they heard a thunder in the distance, pausing the fight. The Tauron glanced back briefly and threw them back. His glaive disappeared, and he transformed into a large bird, speeding away.

Teira activated her electro gun and sent a lance of electricity at one of the Tauron, but a bolt of lightning came down from the sky, which the Tauron channeled through his arm, and the lance collided with a shield. The attack staggered the Tauron, and Teira and Ralea attacked. The other Tauron held out her hand, slowing their movements. Small droplets of water rained down on them, followed by a weak lightning bolt.

The leather armor helped disperse some of the energy, but they were still stunned.

The female Tauron seemed to have exhausted herself, and they were able to move. Teira evaded a burst of lightning and tackled the male Tauron. Ralea sent the female to the ground with an electric grenade, followed by a series of pommel slams to the chest.

As they were about to finish them off, a gust of wind hit them. A giant bird flew at them. It bashed them with its wings, sending them to the ground with another gust of wind. The bird then transformed into a human, the older Tauron. The Inquisitors rose to their feet, and attacked with their swords, but the Tauron defended with his glaive and froze them in place.

Two speeders came in through the trees, and Luran and Kaleor attacked the Tauron. The mage pushed Luran away with an earth fist and evaded a cleave from Kaleor's glaive. He locked the handle and slammed his elbow into Kaleor's sternum. He jammed his fingers into his shoulders, neck and chest, paralyzing him.

Luran shattered Teira's and Ralea's restraints with darts and the trio attacked the Tauron together. A storm of wind and lightning  stopped them, however. Within a minute, the Tauron were gone.

Luran came up to Kaleor, and sent a weak electricity lance at him, energizing his muscles and removing the paralysis.

"Commander will not be pleased about this", Kaleor said, sheathing his weapons. "He won't be if we do not pursue them, either", Teira added. "We have to call for help, though. The elder is too powerful", said Ralea. "Hopefully Commander Arlon will be able to send some reinforcements", added Luran. "They may be too far by then. We will have to move quickly."

They set off in pursuit, unaware that they were being watched.
