28. Down

Y'all please thank my friend BluZ0rua, he was the only reason this chapter even came out tonight lol.

Some very important info is at the AN'S so please read at the end of the chap ;)

-----

Valerie muttered a curse as she mopped.
Leo had gone upstairs to get some spare clothes for Thomas, leaving her with the last of the cleaning.

They had taken turns scrubbing and removing the blood from the tile, and subsequently, the carpet it had soaked into. All that was left was this final bout of mopping to ensure that it was clean.

Val had gladly volunteered to clean this last round alone. Easily offering up the idea to the other that Thomas would need some clean clothes when they visited him.

Leo, thankfully, didn't comment on it. He simply gave her a small smile and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder before heading up towards Thomas' room.

This, of course, left her with time to think and the actress' mind held no qualms in replaying the day's events over in vivid clarity.
----

The entire scene at school had been harrowing, and the take-off from there, even more so.

It's not like she had actually known what to do.

Her instinct, worry and faith, probably, is all that kept her going. That and the fact that a part of her dearest friend was in the back seat.

She was driving far faster than she really should, but at this point she didn't care. All that mattered was getting Logan to Thomas and making sure the manifestor was alright.

The occasional pothole would appear and while the actress tried her best to avoid them, the few times she couldn't, the car would bounce causing Logan to groan and her to wince.

And now stuck motionless in a long line of traffic-bumper to bumper with other vehicles-that expression turned into a grimace and then morphed into abject terror.

The Teacher's from was flickering and his aura was destabilizing. If he didn't get back to his host soon...the Actress didn't want to imagine what that would mean for Thomas. After all, how long does one live when a piece of them is missing? Or worse, no longer in existence?

When Talyn called, Valerie all but blurted out a relay of all her thoughts to the shorter Veiwer, verging on-and just barely managing to not have- a panic attack in doing so.

The rest of the day in Val's memory could only be described as being played in fast forward.

The drive to Thomas' house.

Talyn confusing a cop.

The others lifting Logan out of the car.

Them placing the Secondary Personality near his host...only for him to disappear a second later.

Then to her, scanning the manifestor and thankfully finding auras of the other personalities within him.

And then...

The ambulance.

The blood.

Thomas' body and his blood.

The manifestor's crumpled form.

His blood.

His blood.

It was everywhere.

It was soaking the floor.

And the stairs. And the carpet.

And her hands.

There was his blood on her hands.

A scream lodged at her throat, her eyes widened at the red dripping down her fingers-

"Valerie?"

That was Leo.

"You ok? I got the clothes for Thomas, we can head to the hospital now-"

The actress gave the other a nod and a small smile- a testament to her skill proven in how quickly all traces of fear and panic vanished from her expression, heck, she didn't even flinch when her name had been called.

"Sure, let's go" began Val, already setting aside the mop and heading out the door. "He might even be awake by now"

"Mhm, yeah", agreed the ballet dancer with a curt nod and smile of his own, " if he is, he's probably wondering if we were ok and what took us so long"

"Of course, that Thomas for you, he worries about his friends even when he should be worrying about himself first"

"True"

They smiled to each other.

Thomas' kindness and his bright soul in general was what bound them all together.

But in the car, strapped in and now moving, they faced a different direction. Leo driving Valerie's car, and the owner herself, looking out the window.

Both faces unseen and frowning, the worry lines easily erasing all traces of the "happier" conversation they once bore within their expressions -but they would smile at each other again should their eyes meet.

They were good actors after all.

Though no amount of, seemingly real, smiles was going to get rid of the heavy weight of the foreboding tension that floated around them.

Something was wrong. They could feel it.

-----

Fiona bit at her lip, Roman's breathing was shallow. Just the look of him so pale and cold made her stomach churn. All three of them-Anxiety, Dad and the Prince were down, leaving no doubt that Thomas was also incapacitated.

The Royals and High Class emotions crowded closer around them, their murmurs continued to ring out and the three ancillaries were becoming antsy-

Steven cleared his throat.
His words, however sounded strained, the reverb likely from the stress. "We need to get him back with the others before-"

A hand bell and the voice of townsman cut him off.

"Hear ye! Hear ye! Prince Roman has fallen ill, Master Thomas in possible critical condition!"

Everyone looked outside the window to see the man holding what was most definitely a freshly printed Newspaper.

"Prominent and Secondary personalities' nowhere to be found!" He continental his shouting, ringing the bell all the way. "The Ancillaries are in the castle! Hear ye! Hear ye!"

"Before that, happens", spat Steven. The embodiment of imagination practically growled, "we need to go now, before people start crowding the castle"

"He's right", Fiona gave Steven a nod and turned to Liam, "you two pick him up and take him back to the Commons, I'll help straighten out things here-"

"Wait"

The three glanced at Geoffrey.

"Let me go with him-"

"No, let me"

All eyes drifted on to the resident fae.

Fairy Godmother looked determinedly back at them. "If it is a physical ailment that plagues all of them, then I'll go to heal them. It's the least I could do-"

Liam, who had been pensively quite this whole time, narrowed his eyes in suspension. "Why? You helped us last time because Roman asked for a favour- that means he owes you something. Why now would you do something for free?"

The Fairy chuckled.

"Nothing is for free my dear, but if you must know, I developed a soft spot for our young Prince here, I consider him almost like a nephew of sorts. For as pompous and loud mouthed he can be, his heart has always been in the right place"

"Ok sure, but that still doesn't explain-"

Fairy Godmother shook her head and cut him off, a sombre tone echoed as it escaped from her lips, "I have never seen him look so pale and weak before. Even with blood loss, broken bones or battle fatigue, Prince Roman has never looked this weak or as frail as he does now. Knowing that the others are in a similar situation, I fear the worst"

The Ancillaries bit back a gasp, eyes flitting worriedly at each other.

"Ok..." Started Fiona, "Steven, Liam, you go with Fairy Godmother, I'll stay and-"

"Stay and do what?" Surprisingly it was Geoffrey who cut her off. The Vassal looked nothing more than sympathetic. "Milady, no offense but you haven't the age or the time to be associating yourself with Royal affairs, let alone in the case of an emergency. Go with them, myself and the others will keep the Prime Kingdom running until Prince Roman returns-"

"Wait, you can do that?!" Steven was shocked, it was unheard of for a Vassal and Royal members from another Kingdom to rule while a Prince was down.

"It is not conventional, I'll admit, but with permission from the eldest Ancillary, then it is an understood temporary covenant among the people. This will put them at ease knowing that there is still someone watching over them in the Prince's stead.

Fiona bit at her lip again, looking back at her brothers, and then to the unconscious Roman laying limp still on the ground.

She closed her eyes and exhaled out her nose. Carefully she extended her hand for a shake. "Very well Vassal Geoffrey, I'm willing to put my trust in you and Roman's friends to ensure that his Kingdom does not crumble while he recovers. Do not fail me and most importantly, do not fail him"

Fiona, Liam Steven and Fairy Godmother, existed the castle, the moment Geoffrey bowed and swore to honour the temporary deal.

----

Once in the Commons the boys didn't hesitate to set Roman down on the comforter.

Dad was on one end, with Anxiety curled up quite close, so the Prince was placed right behind the unconscious emo. Leaving the youngest sandwiched between the Primary personality and the Tertiary.

Fairy Godmother watched them for a moment before enquiring about the obviously missing Secondary.

Misleading Compliment, who had been guarding Anxiety and Morality, simply shrugged. Pranks was the one who answered.

"He was teaching at school when these two fell, he could have fallen there too, we had tried to check his room but it was locked"

Fiona blinked up at that.

She took one more look at the three prone personalities on the floor, before she bolted upstairs.

The girl wasted no time in heading towards the Teacher's room. True to Pranks' word, the door was locked. Unperturbed, she simply activated her ability and phased through the door.

Logan was right in front of her.

Pale, unconscious and as cold as the rest of them.

-----

When the ambulance arrived Joan didn't hesitate to jump out of it.

Some nurses and doctors were already outside the Hospital building.

Side stepping, the Veiwer watched as a blonde Female- a Doctor, by the looks of it-greeted one of the paramedics. Said paramedic began to rapid fire a relay of information that Joan would never even hope to understand.

All they knew was that the Doctor was given control and was wheeling Thomas into the hospital. The Beanie lover didn't even realize that the ambulance they came in was gone, too focused on
following right behind his friend. Going as far as to help push the bed

noticing this, the Doctor turned to them, "is this one yours?"

"Yeah, he's my best friend"

She gave the Veiwer a sympathetic smile. "My name is Doctor Sabal"

"Joan", said the other simply.

Sabal gave them a nod, calmly speaking as the two of them wheeled the unconscious manifestor into the emergency room. "The paramedic said he fell down some stairs? He has no broken bones so that's good news at the least. He'll have to get a CT scan and we'll need to monitor his heart rate but all things considered, he's relatively stable"

The beanie lover took a moment to process, Thomas was stable...for now.

"What I need you to do, as soon as we get to the Radiology section, is to go to the receptionist and fill in some forms for you and your friend here"

"Oh, ok, yeah sure, his family members and some more of our friends should be here soon"

"Have the relatives fill out some forms too, just in case. Keep in mind that because a police officer had called the ambulance, another will be asking you some questions"

Joan's eyes widened.

The Doctor, thankfully reassured them with a wave of her free hand. "Don't worry, it's just some customary ones. You, know, what medications he was taking, his state of mental health and whether or not he was intoxicated at the time of the accident-"

"Uh- no, I don't think Thomas was drinking at all this week, he couldn't with the muscle relaxers he was given"

"Muscle relaxers? Hmm", the Doctor looked pensive for a moment, before shaking her head. "Alright, head off to fill those forms, I'll take it from here"

Joan scratched the back of their neck, "Uh-are you sure? How come it's only you pushing him? On TV there's usually like six of you"

Dr. Sabal chuckled, "it's always different on TV. But we're currently short staffed due to an influenza outbreak. Doctors tend to be the worst patients. Somehow being sick doesn't sit well with us"

She shot Joan a playful wink to get the joke across. "Now go, I've got him and it's quite a bit of papers and you want the filled out as soon as possible trust me"

The Veiwer nodded, taking one last glance at his unconscious friend before turning around and heading back towards the receptionist.

----

In the middle of filling out the first page, Talyn had tapped them on their shoulder. Joan only had a moment to blink before they had an arm full of Talyn.

They held on tight, the events of the day truly catching up them both.

"It's ok Tal, it's ok", they said as they rubbed the shorter Viewer's back. "He'll be ok, I'm sure of it"

But Joan wasn't sure, not at all.

----

"So all we gotta do is talk to this cop?"

"Basically, yeah. That's it as far as I was told Leo"

Leo sighed, Joan's answer didn't do much in regards to information on Thomas.

Currently they were all in the waiting area. He and Valerie arriving not ten minutes after Talyn and Dominic coming in another ten minutes after them with Thomas' parents. Meaning the manifestor had been in the hospital for a total of 40+ minutes and no word at all about his condition.

It left them all anxious, the feeling of dread near permeable around them.

-----

Thankfully about an hour later, a blonde Doctor came towards them.

It was unanimously decided that Thomas' parents were to see him first. Everyone else would follow either in pairs or by themselves as the manifestor was not awake and they didn't want to add and my added stress to his body.

Thomas' parents didn't stay too long, their son's friends were out there practically worrying themselves sick. They did stay long enough to say a few prayed and to kiss their child's for head before leaving.

After the parents had left, it was time for Joan and Talyn to go see their friend.

Doctor Sabal, explained to them that Thomas did have minor blood loss and a few heart palpations but he was doing alright. Stable for the meantime. They were allowed to visit simply because he was stable enough- but then again things could easily change.

The moment the two date-mates walked into the room Thomas was in, the heart monitor started to beep in loud unmistakable warning.

------

Fiona had stormed up the stairs in such a hurry, she didn't register her Brother Liam coming after her, until he was banging on Logan's door.

Snapping from her shocked trance, she unlocked the door and told the boy to help her get the Secondary down to the others.

It took a couple minutes but the Vine siblings managed to get the Teacher down without incident, they placed him in front of Morality but neither of them so much as twitched.

Even though everyone was in the commons, there was no peace. After a mere five minutes of the main personalities being in altogether in one room, their forms began to flicker. The children couldn't help but gasp in horror.

Fairy Godmother only confirmed what they already knew.

Something was wrong with their Host and without Thomas...his personalities were sure to fade.

-----

Before Joan and Talyn could do anything, they were being ushered out of the room by Dr. Sabal.

"Alright, why don't you two wait with the others outside, ok-?" But before she could actually move them to the waiting room, one of the nurses shouted for her.

Being severely understaffed as the hospital was, the doctor had no choice but to rush back into Thomas' room. Leaving a stubborn pair of Viewers just outside the door.

Wasting no time, Sabal quickly snapped on a pair of gloves and turned to the male nurse who had called her.

"What've we got, Juarez?"

"He's gone arrhythmic!"

"Too fast or too slow?"

"Too slow-"

She grimaced, "then push 2ccs of Epi-wait where's Abner? I need the results from the CT" She quickly looked around, however she was unable to find Abner, so she turned to someone else, "Stiles, do you know where he is?"

Said male tensed, but continued to watch the heart monitor, deftly avoiding eye contact with the head doctor. "He's not back yet, most of the systems are down"

"Of course!" Sabal sighed exasperatedly.

"It's still too slow, bpm's dropping-", trilled another doctor, this one a young Asian woman.

"Juarez, push Epi again. Lei", the Taiwanese woman nodded, "I'll preform the CPR, start up the defibrillator just in case"

"Got it!"

"He's brachycardic!" Announced Stiles but Sabal ignored him, focusing on counting the chest compressions-

Stiles' voice became frantic, this time it was a cause for concern, "bpm's dropping below 60...40...30-"

BEEEP! BEEEP! BEEP!

"Shit!" Sabal cursed, "Leia!"

"I'm on it! I'm on it!" The Asian woman quickly brought over the paddles before rubbing them together. "The charges are ready- clear!"

THUMP!

Thomas' body jolted as the charge ran through him, but he fell back lifelessly.

"Clear!"

THUMP!

"It's not working!"

Joan and Talyn stood still in shock, the realization hitting them, as they watched the doctors scrambled to save their friend's life. A sickening chill ran through their very beings, as did the very real thought of - 'what if he doesn't make it?'

To think that the balance of life and death literally depended on two paddles with an electrical charge, was absolutely terrifying. Even worse, they could do nothing about it.

"Push Epi and charge again-"

"But this is the third time-!"

"I know what I said! This either saves him or kills him, now push 2ccs of Epi", She then turned to Leia, her dark, determined eyes locking with the younger woman's, "get ready"

"Epi's in-!"

"Leia!"

"Clear!"

THUMP!

AN:// Ok before we start can y'all seriously show my best bro some love? Instead of going to Mexico, spent the whole day with me for my birthday today. He even put up with being sent constantly on errands and put up with ribbing from my family members about our heights.
I'm 5'7 and he's 5'4 WE ARE NOT THAT SHORT PEOPLE!! Anyway, just show him some love. Best friend of the year award y'all.

IMPORTANT INFO:
So because I've been gone for two months, I found the plot of this story practically making itself. Which of course lead to a bit of diversion. I now have this fic fully planned out BUT with two possible endings.

Here is where you guys come in. I need you guys to vote whether Thomas lives or not. Either way the story will continue without a hitch.

BluZ0rua was there as I was typing this and he quoted this: "Silence Non-believer! Go back to your leeches and your potions! Friendship shall save this man! Believe! Believe! Believe!"
Which is from YGOTAS but that's not really the point.

The thing is, he wants Thomas to live so if you do type in "Believe" if not just type "die" along with your reason and we'll tally it up and next chapter you guys will see exactly what you voted for

So I'll leave you guys with that and a bit of a thought to ponder: If Thomas dies, what happens to our bois? And are you truly prepared to see that? ;)

See y'all in the comments guys!

Choochoo!
