Harsh Cry
"How are you settling in?" Robyn startled Brand as he was dusting the halls.
"Okay, I guess. I had a pretty weird experience training," he answered, regaining control of his senses.
"Oh?" Robyn inquired, itching for more detail. It was pretty clear to Brand that he and Robyn were around the same age, with Elvina being maybe a year or two younger.
"Well, when Ernest lead me to the training room, he didn't say anything, not a single word. He just pointed to a book the whole time, and when I was finally able to reach it, it only had one page with any text on it," Brand explained, reaching for a satchel he now made a regular habit of carrying around.
Taking out the book, he showed Robyn the one page with text on it.
"I don't see anything," Robyn peered, frowning at her inability.
"I'm under the impression it's no ordinary book," Brand continued on, placing the tome back into his decently sized satchel.
"Yeah, I'd definitely keep opening it up every now and then, just to see if any new information appears," Robyn suggested, offering a warm smile. "Tell me what it says when it does, will you?"
"Sure thing," Brand agreed, not wanting to think about the tremendous amount of work he had yet to get done. Their cleanliness standards seemed incredibly unrealistic to him, but he knew better than to not abide by them.
A sensation of fear overtook Robyn's face as she stared at something just beyond him. Looking back, he was startled to discover the face of a livid middle aged woman glaring at them. Her hair was a natural brown, not unlike Robyn's.
"Mind telling me what you were doing, young lady?" she asked, staring right through them.
"Just trying to be friendly," Robyn hesitated, gulping.
"Why did you show her your magic tome, young man?" the lady turned her gaze to the young Infraburst.
"I was hoping to get her help on why the pages were blank," Brand informed her, attempting to build up some form of courage.
She placed a hand on her shaking head in response, clearly annoyed. "The pages won't show up until you've learned something, or are at least close enough to learning something. And, for that matter, you're the only one who can see it since it's your book!" she viciously explained, turning her icy gaze back towards Robyn.
"You shouldn't have looked at the book. You know the rules. You're not to be anywhere near anything magic-related," she snapped, grabbing Robyn's arm. "You're coming with me," she spat, dragging Robyn with her.
Brand could only watch as the elder Infraburst yanked her into a room with her, slamming the door shut behind them.
As he continued to clean, he heard Robyn cry out in pain. He tried to tell himself to ignore it, that the trouble wouldn't be worth it. It didn't take long for his emotions to get the better of him, and he soon found himself trembling before the closed door. The screams only grew louder.
A fiery sensation overtook him, flames jettisoning out of his hands, knocking over the door.
What he saw next only filled him with more fury.
