The Creaky Progression

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Briefly, Callest cast his gaze down on (m/n), and his eyes held nothing but disgust. "You'd come here to save this woman and her unborn child, a human child no less?" Callest met Ether's eyes once more, and they held irritation in them. "And, for what?' His head signaled to (f/n). "So that you can meet her approval? So that you don't lose her missing you?" He held his head up high. "Pathetic. I hoped that you were better than that, yet you've gone even further back from who you used to be."

"I thought that side annoyed you?" Ether continued to hold (f/n) firmly against him. A frown coated his lips, and he didn't take a step forward. "You know going around and making a show of things."

"It did, but at least, you weren't submitting yourself to a human. You knew better. You preyed upon them, and that's how it should be. What you're doing now is vile." Callest took a step forward before his left foot rested on (m/n)'s back, and he pushed down. She couldn't resist, and she gave out several muffled cries, especially when her face eventually pressed against the cold floor. "This woman should be nothing more than food to you. The same for the one in your arms. Maybe," a nauseous scowl formed on his lips, "she could be used for breeding stock, but that's it."

"If you think so low of her mother, why don't you hand her over and move on?" Ether's tone was casual, and it was becoming annoyed. "I get that you're disappointed in me or something for my carelessness in the tunnels and for me falling in love with a human, but that's your problem. I ..."

"I'm making it your problem. This is your punishment," Callest spoke firmly, cutting him off. "You thought that you just could prance around with your human and have no consequences. Maybe, that's the case from the humans, but from your own kind, I don't think so." His eyes narrowed, and the older creature almost looked like a parent scolding a child. "You're making a mockery of our species. You're letting yourself become weak. You're letting that human woman control you, and it's sickening."

Trying to keep himself from acting out, Ether inhaled and exhaled slowly. His left nails were inching to stain themselves with Callest's blood. "I don't find it sickening. Maybe, it's frustrating at times, but I don't regret making myself her partner."

"Her partner?" Callest released a bitter, cruel chuckle. "Does she call you that back?" Ether remained quiet. "She doesn't, does she? Partner would imply that you're equal with each other." When Ether didn't reply, Callest smirked more, but the smirk was because he was right, not because he was enjoying the argument. "You may think her an equal, but she doesn't think the same for you. Maybe, she thinks that you're beneath her, and she's been playing you all along and hoping that you die today so that she can go and live her life freely."

At that, Ether began to giggle, and he had a hard time holding onto (f/n), but he managed, and he tried to control his giggles. Callest stared on somewhat puzzled. The older creature parted his lips, but Ether cut him off, "If you're about to ask me what's funny, it's that I already know that she's hoping for me to die today when I kill you." Almost, Callest scoffed at Ether's confidence in killing him. "I know that she wants that. But, I have another correction. (F/n) doesn't consider me beneath her."

On his lips, a smirk formed. "No, she doesn't call me her partner because she doesn't love me back. She knows that partner means romantic partner to me, and she doesn't agree to that meaning of the term." Ether adjusted (f/n) in his arms, and her head rested against his chest lightly. He only wished that the situation were different, and he was carrying her to bed so that she could have a peaceful sleep. "She knows very well not to consider me a weak being like you're doing. I've been honest with her about why I'm doing what I'm doing, and she's accepted that. She's accepted all of my actions." Lifting his head up, Ether looked down on Callest even though he was the shorter of the two. "I only need her acceptance, not yours. Never will I need yours."

"That fact alone is reason enough to punish you." Callest removed his foot from the back of (m/n) before he kicked her aside. She groaned and rolled onto her left side, but her arms rested over her midsection protectively. "Your kind should matter more to you than a mere human. But, it seems that she has corrupted you too much." A sigh parted from the older creature. "Very well. That's why I set all of this up." No happiness entered his very pale blue optics, and he kept his gaze on Ether before it shifted to (f/n). "And, why is she like that? What is it from you slamming that truck into the building?" From his lips came a chuckle that indicated he expected that to happen. "How you managed to drive it at all ... Well, our species is incredible, so it's within reason."

"I knocked her out before." Callest raised a brow. "Otherwise, she might cause trouble." The older creature seemed a little shocked. Ether made no reaction to Callest's current expression. "Seeing you again and seeing her mother like that, she might just run at you. I can't have that. So, get on with telling me what deal you want."

"A deal?" Callest released a bitter chuckle. "I think that you misunderstand. What I want is what will happen. It needs to happen to correct all of this." His eyes diverted over to (m/n). "I'll let her live only if I feel like you've learned your lesson." (M/n) clutched her midsection tighter, and her eyes looked over to her daughter with worry. "And, I think that you know how to achieve that."

Lifting up his left index finger, Callest pointed to (f/n). "I was going to stab her through her female organs in the tunnels. I was going to spare you from doing that yourself, but that other human caused me to miss my aim." A scowl tugged at his lips, and anger radiated in his orbs as he looked at the younger woman. "And, she's made a full recovery. How unfortunate." He lowered his finger. "So, here's how that situation is going to be corrected. You're going to stab her there in my place, and you're going to let her bleed out."

Muffled cries came from (m/n), and she tried to wriggle her way over to her daughter. Callest glared to her and grabbed her right arm harshly. He lifted her up, and she struggled in his grasp while he ignored her completely. "Afterwards, you're going to eat those very organs from her in front of her mother. I want you to destroy all possible chances of that human woman from having a child with you." Dropping (m/n), he kicked her aside as she managed to support herself up on her hands once she recovered herself from the blow.

Every fiber of his being wanted to dart forward and brutally rip apart Callest, but he kept his feet planted to his current spot. There was no way he was going to do that to his pink flower. Absolutely never. "Or if you can't ... Well, I want her to be awake for that. Even if she resists you, I want her up for this. Wake her up, or I'll kill her mother now."

Resisting the urge to growl, Ether gently got onto his knees. His eyes glared towards his opponent, and he wished that they could burn holes through the other creature. "And, how do I know you'll keep your word in any of this?" The younger creature broke eye contact with the older one, but he remained aware of Callest's every move while he shook (f/n) softly to get her to wake up.

"I'll keep my word on sparing her mother if you've learned your lesson." Ether didn't believe that at all, but he wanted Callest to think that he did. "But, hurry up. She shouldn't be that dead to the world. At least, that should be the case for now."

Almost, Ether got up to tackle him, but he remained on the ground and shook her. She still didn't wake. "(F/n), you need to get up. Your mother's life is at risk." He shook her more violently. "(F/n)!" he began to shout after about thirty seconds of the first approach. "Come on; get up!"

"Did you knock her out too well?" Callest questioned, tempted to come over and do the job himself since his patience was thinning. Ether ignored him for the moment. "Even now, you can see how fragile she is, and you still care for her." The older creature's lips were downturned, and his left nails wished to stab the cursed human woman himself.

"She's stronger than you think," Ether answered before he continued to yell at her to get up. He knew that she was awake, but she was keeping her end of the bargain. His shouts got louder, and he hoped that the others were carrying out their parts of the plan. "But, I don't need to prove that you."

"No, you don't because there's nothing to prove. She's weak, and she's dragging you down with her." Stepping forward, Callest tapped his left nails against his outer thigh impatiently. Any harder and they would break skin. "But if she doesn't wake soon, I'll kill her mother. This is ridiculous."

Momentarily, Ether thought that he heard metal creaking. His very pale blue optics looked over to Callest as he shouted out his little helper's name again. Callest made no reaction. He must've been too caught up in his own hatred to notice. Hopefully, that was the case. When Ether saw Callest begin to close the distance between her mother and himself, Ether exclaimed, "(F/n), get up before he kills her! Do you want her dead?!"

"It seems like she does." Callest rested his right foot on (m/n)'s head and began to press down as she cried out in pain. Hearing her mother's cry, (f/n) snapped open her eyes and looked around her hurriedly until her (e/c) optics landed on her mother.

"Mom!" she shouted, ready to get up, as her mind nearly abandoned the plan. Instantly, Ether held her back and wrapped his arms around her waist to keep her in place. The hold did give her pause and time to think about what she saw before her. Right, she needed to remain calm in order to get everyone out of the situation alive. She just hoped that she had held out long enough to give the others enough time to get into place. Whatever the case, she couldn't wait any longer, but her whole body froze when her optics landed solely on the other creature, ... on him.
