*Chapter Two*

"Caroline, why am I here?" Claire grumbled standing with her sister at the bonfire. She remembered how fun these used to be before she got pregnant. She couldn't help but to compare her life to how it is now to what it used to be.

Before she got pregnant she was the most popular girl in school, for good reasons. Now, she's just a hot source of gossip for not only the school but for the rest of the town. Before she could drink and let loose but now she had to worry about not over doing it. Before she got pregnant she had a boyfriend, albeit, he did cheat on her causing them to have a bad break-up but she had a boyfriend nonetheless. Now, nobody even dared to get involved with her, not wanting the responsibility of kids just yet, not that she particularly blamed them.

"Because if you stayed at home you'd be in your room drawing your dream boyfriends being all depressy" She told her. Claire rolls her eyes but doesn't deny it. "Besides, mom isn't working tonight and I doubt you wanna be in the same house as her by yourself."

"True" Claire muttered under her breath but Caroline heard her. The older sister smirked and continued to drink her beer.

"Stop pouting and have some fun" Caroline said giving her a wink. "Come on, we can dance" She said going to take her closer to the music but stopped when she saw the new boy. "I'll be right back."

"Care" Claire whined in protest but Caroline ignored her and continued to pursue the Salvatore. Claire followed her but kept her distance.

"Hey! You made it" Caroline stated excitedly. Stefan looks slightly started as if he were suddenly snapped out of his thoughts. Claire glances to where he was looking and sees Elena and Bonnie. The younger twin sighs softly knowing where all this was going.

"I did" Stefan gives her a polite smile and goes to walk away but Caroline didn't let him go that easily.

"Well, let's get you a drink" She said grinning. He looks less than optimistic to follow Caroline around.

"Well, I'm-" He tried to get out of it but Caroline shook her head.

"Oh, come on" She said grabbing him and dragging him off. Stefan sighs in disappointment and Claire gives him a sympathetic smile. "Wait here, I'll grab something for you." Caroline said before scurrying off.

"I'm sorry about her" Claire said and Stefan gave her a gentle smile. "She likes you a lot but I can tell you like Elena." Stefan raises his eyebrows.

"Am I that obvious?" He questioned. Claire smiled.

"I doubt you've taken your eyes off of her since you first saw her" Claire said not realizing how true her statement was. "Look, Caroline is a wonderful person but she can be very thick headed. Don't lead her on, I know you don't mean too but if you don't make it clear to her that you're not interested then she's going to keep pursuing you and she'll get even more hurt in the end."

"I'll be sure to mention something" Stefan said. Claire gives him a thankful look. She loves her sister but she doesn't want Caroline to get her hopes up over something that isn't going to happen. "Excuse me" He said before slipping away, following Elena.

"Where'd he go?" Caroline asked coming back. Claire shrugged.

"I don't know, he didn't tell me" She told her honestly.

"You couldn't have kept him around?" Caroline snapped. Claire gave her a small smile and an innocent shrug. Caroline groans and rolls her eyes wondering off.

"Bonnie!" Claire said spotting one of her best friends. Bonnie looks up at the sound of her name. It takes her a minute to spot Claire but when she does she smiles and walks towards the pregnant girl. "Are you alright? You seem a little freaked out" Claire said.

"I'm fine, just got a little too into my head" Bonnie said trying to shake off what she saw in her head when she was playing psychic with Elena. "You look great, by the way."

"Why thank you" Claire smirked giving Bonnie a 360 turn. Bonnie smiled at Claire. Even is she was pregnant she still had a sense for fashion just like Caroline.

"How's the nursery coming?" Bonnie asked.

"It's coming along well... I swear if I buy one more stuffed animal" Claire grumbled covering her face. Bonnie laughed. "These kids aren't even born yet and I'm spoiling them" Claire whined. "I'm not gonna have any money by the time they're born" She rolls her eyes dropping her hands.

"Have you thought about the genders?" Bonnie questioned. Claire could find out what they were but she didn't know if she wanted too or not. So far she's been buying neutral stuff but it would be a lot easier to buy clothes if she knew what they were.

"I'm torn but I feel like I'm going to end up asking at my next appointment." Claire told her. Bonnie grinned excitedly.

"You have to tell me as soon as you find out." Bonnie said instantly. Claire grinned and nodded.

"Don't worry, you'll be one of the first." Claire said.

"I'm assuming Caroline is going to be the first?" Bonnie assumed.

"Well seeing as she comes with me to every appointment, I'd say yes" She said nodding.

"Well then I better be second" Bonnie said pointing at her. "Then we an start getting serious about names." Claire grinned rubbing her stomach giving Bonnie an eager nod.

"How's Grams?" Claire asked. It's been a while since Claire has seen Sheila Bennett, Bonnie's grandmother. Claire used to have sleep overs at the Bennett's whenever she got in a fight with Caroline or just needed some space. Shelia absolutely adored Claire because the younger twin would listen to all of her 'crazy' stories about witches and the supernatural. Bonnie always considered Claire a nerd because of it but it was just innocent teasing.

"She misses you." Bonnie said instantly. "She also has some things for the babies so you should come over sometime." Bonnie said and Claire lit up.

"Slumber party?" Claire smirked and Bonnie grinned nodding. The two of them hardly saw each other throughout the summer. Bonnie felt slightly guilty because she wasn't there for her throughout the initial shock of the pregnancy, not as much as she would like to have been. However, she knew she could make it up by buying some fashionable articles of clothing for the future members of the Forbes family.

"Somebody help!" Elena shouts. Bonnie and Claire instantly look over, their hearts racing despite not knowing what exactly was going on. The two of them, with just about everyone else there, instantly goes towards a frantic Elena.

"Vicki? Vicki, what the hell!?" Matt shouted racing to his unconscious sister. Bonnie gasps covering her mouth as she saw the state Matt's sister was in.

"What happened to her?" Tyler questioned quickly coming into sight. Claire tenses, her eyes glued on the dark haired football player. She felt jealousy and anger bubble inside of her as he looks at Vicki surprised and concerned.

"Somebody, call an ambulance!" Matt shouted feeling extremely panicked. Claire felt pity for Matt but then she looked at Vicki and the corner of her lip lifted ever so slightly in an almost sinister way. A smug glint entered her eyes as she couldn't help but to feel as if the bitch had gotten what she deserved.

"Everybody back up, give her... some space" He shouted but slowed when he looked at Claire. Their eyes locked together and a deeper pained expression crosses his face. She glares at him fiercely before disappearing into the crowd.

"Caroline?" Claire asked looking around no longer caring what happened to the older Donovan sibling, not that she cared to begin with but she just lost interest in the whole situation. "Caroline?" Claire sang before pressing her lips together. She then looked towards the sound of puking and saw her sister kneeling on the ground.

Claire scrunches up her nose not wanting to go over there, not wanting to risk getting nauseous herself, but at the same time she knew she should be a good sister. Besides, Caroline was there every time she threw up but then again, Caroline wasn't pregnant so she could hold things down easier when someone else was pregnant. In the end, her desire to be a good sister won and she walked over to knelt beside Caroline.

"I'm never drinking again" Caroline grumbled before throwing up. Claire laughed quietly and rubbed her back.

"Can I get that in writing?" Claire asked teasingly. The younger sister knew that if Caroline was in better shape she would have slapped her arm or something.

"Hey, you two good?" Bonnie asked as an ambulance arrived for Vicki.

"Classic case of one too many" Claire said as Caroline leaned against her trying to get her head to stop spinning.

"We can't take her home like that" Bonnie muttered knowing she was their ride home. Claire nodded in agreement knowing their mother would kill Caroline.

"The Grill?" Claire suggested. "Get some coffee, wait to see if anybody says anything about what happened." Bonnie nodded.

"I'll go see if Elena wants to come, can you get her to the car?" Bonnie asked.

"I'm sure I can manage that" Bonnie nodded and wondered off. Claire stood up and looked at her sister. She wasn't used to being the caretaker. She was used to being shitfaced right next to Caroline and having someone take care of the pair of them. Another difference between pre-pregnancy and now.

"Alright, Care-bear, time to get going." She said holding her hand out.

"I don't wanna go, Baby" Caroline whined laying on the cool grass. "I just want everything to stop spinning."

"Well it's better if you sit up, Care" Claire told her. Caroline didn't answer. "Caroline, come on, we have to get to the car." She said reaching down. She grabbed her sisters hands and pulled but all she did was pull dead weight.

"Baby!" Caroline whined. Claire rolled her eyes. "You know, when you were little you had a baby face." Caroline opened her eyes and smiled. "You still kind of do."

"Hence the nickname everyone likes to call me" Claire reminded her.

"Oh, yeah! Baby Face, Baby Face" Caroline giggles. Claire groans. However, she smirks victoriously as she finally pulls Caroline off the ground. The older twin still muttering her sisters nickname.

"You gotta help me out here, Care" Claire grumbled practically dragging her to the car. "The things I do for you" She mumbled when they finally got to the car. She leaned Caroline against it and opened the door.

"Baby Face" Caroline giggled and pinched Claire's cheeks. Claire instantly swats at her hands and gets her into the car.

"Hey, you ready?" Bonnie asked jogging over to them.

"Elena coming?" She asked and Bonnie shook her head.

"No, she's taking Jeremy home." Bonnie told her as they both climbed into the front of the car. Claire nodded in understanding

"I feel horrible" Caroline mumbled.

"Don't you throw up in my car" Bonnie snips. Claire smirks.

When they get to the Grill, Bonnie and Claire both manage to get Caroline in a booth. Bonnie instantly gets them coffee and a tea for Claire. It takes a few minutes for Caroline to actually sober up enough to see straight.

"Are you sober yet?" Bonnie questioned raising her eyebrows at the older sister. Claire glances at her as she sits beside her, boxing Caroline in the booth.

"No" Caroline grumbles upset.

"Keep drinking. I gotta get you home." She reminded her. "I gotta get me home" Bonnie grumbled to herself. Claire gives her a smile that is both thankful yet sympathetic.

"Why didn't he go for me?" Caroline whined. Claire looks back at her sister. She knew who Caroline was talking about and assumed Stefan had talked to her like she had suggested. "You know, how come the guys that I want never want me?"  She cries.

"I'm not touching that" Bonnie shakes her head. Claire wraps her arm around her shoulders, Caroline leaning against her sisters embrace.

"I'm inappropriate. I always say the wrong thing. And.. Elena always says the right thing" Caroline said. There it is, Claire thinks. Claire knew her sister was always jealous of Elena despite loving the Gilbert girl and being best friends with her. "She doesn't even try!" Caroline complains. "And he just picks her. And she's always the one that everyone picks, for everything. And I try so hard, and.. I'm never the one" Caroline mumbles.

"It's not a competition, Caroline" Bonnie reminds her.

"Yeah, it is" Caroline disagrees. Claire sighs and tightens her grip on Caroline. They don't stay too much longer and eventually leave.

"You got her?" Bonnie muttered as they arrived at the Forbes house. Claire smiles and nods.

"I'll see you later Bonnie, thanks for the ride" Bonnie nods smiling at her. Claire grabs her sister and sneaks the both of them inside and up to Caroline's room.

"There you go, Care-bear" Claire whispers tucking her sister in after taking her shoes off. "I'll always choose you, big sister" She whispers giving her a loving kiss on the temple before going to her room. Claire lets out a big sigh as she leans against the door. She rubs her face tiredly and changes into something more comfortable.

She sits on her bed, on top o the covers and leans against the headboard. She rubs her stomach, deep in thought. She pitied her sister. She knew she struggled with her love life and how she always compared herself to Elena.

She glances at her bedside table and opens the drawer. There lays her diary. She wonders if she should write in it. Eventually, her fingers wrap around the side and lifts it up and into her lap.

Dear Diary,
Nothing really happened today but there was a back to school bonfire. I didn't quite enjoy myself like I usually did at such parties, I know I can thank the twins growing in my stomach for that. However, it was better than staying at home with my mother.
Something happened at the party. I was just making conversation with Bonnie when Elena started to scream for help. Naturally, Bonnie and I went over to check it out. We were honestly worried something had happened to her but to my relief, it wasn't her that had been in danger but Vicki Donovan.
I got a weird feeling seeing Vicki in pain, seeing her blood pouring out of her neck. Everyone around me was in shock and even worried about her. I felt bad for Matt, he was always a good friend to me but that doesn't change the fact that his sister is a boyfriend stealing whore. I never liked Vicki to begin with but I didn't hate her until they went behind my back.
Anyways, the weird feeling I got wasn't something I was expecting. I didn't feel worried about Vicki and I didn't feel sorry for her. It was like I felt... justified. Like she had finally gotten some karma for what she had done. I was.. happy. Does that make me a bad person? I know people say that you shouldn't be happy over someone else's pain but I can't help him. She's caused me so much pain in the last few months alone, I feel like my feelings are justified... but that's just me.
