*Chapter One* {Pilot}

Waking up and the first thing Claire Forbes does is race to the bathroom and empty anything that was in her stomach. It wasn't exactly what she wanted to do the second she wakes up, though she should be used to it. It annoyed her to no end, she had wished the nausea would have left her at this point but here she is, still experiencing it.

She didn't know when her twin sister, Caroline, had joined her but when she finally lifted her head, she pouted to her older sister. Caroline smiled at her sympathetically as she let go of Claire's hair and stood up, offering her little sister a hand. Claire takes it and allows Caroline to help her off the floor.

"Now, get dressed, we need to get to school before class so that we can find Bonnie and Elena." Caroline ordered pointing at Claire before slipping out of the bathroom. Claire smiles at the thought of finding their friends.

The younger twin quickly brushes her teeth before going to her bedroom and climbed into some clothes. She then walked up to the full length mirror and smiled at her reflection before her eyes glanced down at her stomach. It was no longer flat and perfect like it once had, now it was curved and swollen.

Claire rubs it gently, a soft smile on her face and a small hint of fear in her heart. She turned away from the mirror and looked at her bedroom. Her bedroom used to be a typical teenage bedroom. Her bed used to be in the center of the wall. Pictures of her friends used to hang throughout the room.

Now, her bed was pushed to the side and her pictures were all on one wall or just taken down all together. On the other side of the room stands a crib, big enough for two. Her dresser drawers are cleaned out, her clothes shoved into the closet. Her large vanity now in Caroline's room, a smaller one in it's place.

"Claire, hurry up!" Caroline shouted from the living room. The younger twin snaps out of her thoughts, grab her backpack and joins her sister in walking out to the car.

"Care, do you think I'm fat?" Claire questioned looking at her sister. Caroline frowned her eyebrows and looked at her like she was being ridiculous.

"Baby, you have two humans growing inside of you. I'm surprised you're not bigger." Caroline told her with a shrug as she looked back onto the road. Claire looks down at her stomach. "Look on the bright side, you still have that glow to you. You're still as beautiful as ever." She said. Claire perked up a little bit and smiled at her sister.

"Thanks, Care-bear" Claire smiled at her. Caroline grinned at her sister.

"No problem, Baby Face." Claire rolled her eyes at the nick name she's had since the third grade but continued to smile. "Oh look, there's Bonnie's car" Caroline notes pulling into the school parking lot.

"Try not to be overwhelming, Caroline" Claire muttered.

"I'm not overwhelming, Baby, I just want to make sure my friend is ok." Caroline stated turning the car off. Claire nodded knowing this but also knew her sister could come off as a bit much, despite her honest intentions.

Claire climbed out of the car and followed Caroline through the school. The older sister practically sniffed Bonnie and Elena out, finding the two girls in record time. Claire felt like she had to run to keep up with her sister. Caroline was the taller of the two and boy did she had a long stride.

"Elena! Oh, my God" Caroline said gaining their attention. She pulls the Gilbert girl into a tight hug while Claire finally catches up. Bonnie gives the younger twin an amused smile while Claire just shakes her head, smiling as well. "How are you? Oh, it's so good to see you." She then turned to Bonnie. "How is she? Is she good?" Caroline asked.

"Caroline, I'm right here" Elena said regaining her attention. "And I'm fine, thank you." She said smiling at her.

"Really?" Caroline questioned.

"Yes, much better" Elena nodded not completely telling the truth. Claire frowned slightly knowing how hard it had to be to lose both of her parents before the summer began. She felt as if she had lost a parent as well, despite them both being alive.

Her mother, Elizabeth or Liz, didn't approve of her pregnancy. Claire knew her mother was ashamed and disappointed. Liz hardly ever talked to her or even looked in her direction. If she did look, it was full of judgement and shame. It didn't help that Claire refused to tell anybody who the father is. Claire knew who the father is, the father knew yet he refused to believe it.

"Oh, you poor thing" Caroline pouted and hugged Elena yet again.

"Ok, Caroline" Elena said hinting to Caroline that she was being a bit overwhelming. She got the message and pulled away.

"Oh, ok! See you guys later?" Caroline asked smiling before walking away.

"Miss you and Jeremy hanging around the house" Claire said to Elena. "You two were a big help with the Nursery" She said. "And.. well... everything else." She added sheepishly. She felt bad that Elena and Jeremy were comforting her more than she was comforting them during the summer but Elena and Jeremy didn't see it like that.

The Gilbert siblings saw their time in the Forbes residence, while their aunt was going through the paper work to gain custody, to wrap their heads around their parents death. While the siblings sort of went their different ways when it came to cooping with their grief, they both grew closer to the Forbes twins. A few weeks after they moved in, Claire found out she was pregnant.

The first couple of months was extremely difficult for Claire. With her mother suddenly ignoring her, getting over the fact that she was pregnant, that her mother tried to force her to get an abortion and then getting over the fact that the father made it clear he wanted nothing to do with it nor her. Elena supported Claire and helped her through it with Caroline, it helped take Elena's mind off of her parents and her situation. Jeremy helped, with Elena and Caroline but mainly Jeremy, Claire turn her room into a nursery and with buying some baby clothes and toys.

Then Claire found out she was having twins and she felt terrified. She wouldn't talk for a couple of weeks. Caroline tried to force it and Elena tried to coax something out of her but Claire wouldn't listen. It was like she was in some sort of trance. Jeremy just sat with her. He made sure she ate, made sure she took care of herself and he talked to her. But he didn't ask her questions or talk in a way that would require her to talk back. He was just there and eventually, he broke her trance and helped her come to terms with the news.

So, no, Claire had no reason to feel guilty. She helped the Gilbert siblings grieve and gave them something to get their mind off of things while they helped support her decision to keep the babies and prepare for their arrival. To them, it was a perfect give and take.

"How are you doing?" Elena questioned concerned, taking a small step towards Claire.

"The morning sickness still hasn't left" Claire complained rolling her eyes. "But at least I'm not too fat... yet"Elena and Bonnie smiled at her. "How's your aunt? Like living with her?"

"She's doing good, still trying to get used to the change but we're doing.. ok" Elena nodded. Claire smiled.

"And Jeremy?" She asked not having seen him since they moved out a few weeks ago.

"He's the same" Elena told her.

"Remember, if you need anything-"

"I know" Elena cut her off gently and continued to smile at Claire. "Thank you" She said sincerely. Claire nodded before turning to Bonnie.

"I can't wait to catch up, I feel like I haven't seen you in forever" She said. Bonnie grinned.

"We've all been a bit busy" Bonnie shrugged. Claire nodded and said good bye to her friends before scurrying off to go to class.

"Hey, Claire!" Caroline shouted weaving through the crowd as the final bell rang. Claire waited for her sister. "Everyone's going to the Grill, wanna come?" Claire thought about it before shrugging.

"Sure, sounds like fun" Caroline lit up excitedly. It had been a long time since Claire had hung out with them at the Grill. She was in the beginning of her second trimester but during her first, she felt so tired she could barely make it home after school without falling asleep.

"Great! Lets go" Caroline grabbed her sister and dragged her off to the car. Claire smiled as Caroline drove to the Grill talking about the new boy, Stefan Salvatore, the entire time.

By the time the got to the Grill, Bonnie had arrived as well. The twins walked up to their best friend, the trio walking into the Grill together. Caroline brought up the new boy, telling Bonnie everything she had told her sister.

"His name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with his uncle up at the old Salvatore Boarding house. He hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini, and his favorite color is blue." Caroline said before they had even entered the Grill completely.

"You got all of that in one day?" Bonnie asked as they picked out a table.

"Oh, please, I got all that between third and fourth period. We're planning a June wedding" She joked bringing a smile to their faces. "Come on, Baby, lets go order" Caroline said dragging her sister up to the bar since it was quicker that way. Bonnie left their things at the table and went over to Matt.

"I don't even know what I want..." Claire mumbled her mouth watering at all the possibilities. "Ok, can I get an order of fries with pickles on the side, like lots of pickles" She said grinning at the bar tender. He nodded walking off to put their order in. "Oh look, Elena and Stefan."

Caroline whipped around and pressed her lips together when she saw them together. Claire glanced at her sister noticing the hint of jealous in her expression. She sighed knowing Caroline had a crush on Stefan and it didn't help that he came with Elena.

"Here you go" The bar tender said giving them their food. Claire's face lit up at the sight of the pickles and grabbed her basket. Caroline smiled at her sister, shaking her head and followed her sister back to the table.

"So, you were born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline questioned looking at Stefan. He hums, nodding.

"And moved when I was still young" He informed them. Claire listened, though her attention was clearly on her food.

"Parents?" Bonnie questioned.

"My parents passed away." Stefan admitted, averting his gaze.

"I'm sorry" Elena said instantly knowing exactly how it felt. "Any siblings?"

"None that I talk to" He said vaguely. "I live with my uncle"

"So, Stefan" Caroline said shifting in her seat. "If you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow" She said grinning.

"It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie informs him.

"Are you going?" Stefan asked Elena.

"Of course she is." Bonnie answered for her instantly. Elena gave Bonnie a look but she simply smiled. Claire bites into her third pickle and moans quietly.

"You're eating food, not having sex" Caroline blurted to her sister.

"Oh, trust me, I know" Claire said nodding. "This pickle is so much better than any sex I've had" She jabs at the father of her two babies despite him not being here.

"When are you due?" Stefan asked successfully bringing her gaze away from the food.

"February 27th, so I still have a good amount of time left." She said leaving out the part about her chances of delivering early. With it being her first pregnancy and with it being twins, the odds are she would deliver early. How early? She wasn't sure but it did make her nervous. However, she knew she still had a while before she actually started to get really nervous.

"Excited?" He asked her.

"Depends on the day" She told him honestly. Her hand rested on her small bump. "Most of the time, I'm just a big ball of nerves and anxiety" She said.

"It's understandable" He told her with a small smile. She smiled back before glancing at her sister. They didn't need to say anything, Caroline could tell she was starting to get tired.

"We're going to head out, we'll see you guys tomorrow" Caroline said. Claire said her goodbyes before the two of them went to the car and headed out. When they arrived home, the two of the chatted for a little bit before heading to their rooms.

Claire didn't quite feel tired yet so she slipped into her PJ's and grabbed her diary. She didn't always keep a diary but Elena had suggested it. Elena told her that it helped her grieve her parents death and that it might help her stay calm and keep her head straight. Claire had told the Gilbert girl that there were times when she felt like her head was spinning and she couldn't quite grasp the idea about being pregnant or about anything that was happening.

So, Claire took up her idea and began to write in her diary. It was hard to do at first, a lot of the times she simply forgot about it. However, the more she did it, the more she enjoyed it. It did help her keep her thoughts straight.

September 7th, 2009
Dear Diary,
Today was the first day of school. I got plenty of weird looks, judgmental looks from not only the students but the teachers as well. I was actually grateful that my mother had given me the same, if not worse, looks during the summer because now I'm used to them and getting them in school didn't hurt as much.
There's a new boy in school that everyone seemed to be fascinated about. Stefan Salvatore. He certainly has Caroline's attention but I'm worried. I could tell Stefan likes Elena and she seemed to like him back. I hope Caroline doesn't get her hopes up, I don't want her to get hurt.
I haven't seen the mystery ghost boy in a while. I actually miss seeing him, even if I can't talk to him nor touch him. I still feel some kind of connection to him that I still can't explain. I tried researching it but all I got were myths and fanfiction. I just want to understand who he is and why I'm seeing him. I want to know if he's even real or if I'm just seeing things, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the latter was the answer.
On a happier note, I think I felt my babies kick today. It was so light I don't know it was an actual kick or if my stomach was just grumbling from hunger. I can't wait to start feeling them moving around, kicking. I think I'm starting to accept the fact that I'm pregnant, that I'm going to be a mother. I'm scared as shit but I'm excited. I know as long as Caroline is there to help me, I don't need anyone else. Though I know Caroline isn't the only one supporting me, she does mean the most.
That's all I have for today, I'll be sure to write tomorrow if anything interesting happens. But this is Mystic Falls, hardly anything interesting has happened... Well, outside the gossip of 'the stupid teenage girl who got knocked up and doesn't even know who the father is.' P.S. I do know who the father is, I just don't think it's anybodies business seeing as he denies it. I don't need him, I'll raise my beautiful babies on my own. Anybody who has a problem with it can kiss my ass and go to hell.

Closing the diary, Claire opens the drawer of her bed side table and sets it inside before closing it. She turned the lights off before slipping under the covers. She grabs her phone and smiles at her lock screen. It's of her and Caroline before she had gotten knocked up. They were so happy. Claire still considered herself a happy person just more stressed and with more pressure on her shoulders. She feels like she's aged a lot in the last few months but still happy nonetheless.

She scrolls through her pictures smiling at all the memories. She stops at one and enlarges it. It was a selfie of her at a bonfire. It was the night her siblings were conceived, a few hours before hand.

She was in front of a teenage boy who is exactly eight months older than her, something he loved to rub in her face. His large football playing arms wrapped around her neck, her back pressed against his chest, his chin resting on the top of her head. She was the one holding the phone, taking the picture. It was terrible lighting but it was one of her favorite pictures.

She completely ignored herself in the photo and focused on him. His black hair was unruly from the tipsy make-out session they had before the picture was taken. His deep brown eyes slightly hazed from the alcohol.

She sighs softly before forcing herself to turn off her phone. Her mind forced her to relive the memory of them breaking up, just before she found out she was pregnant. And then she remembered his harsh words of denial when she told him about the pregnancy.

She could feel the tears coming to her eyes as she thought about it on repeat. Her body curled into a tight ball, a few tears falling down her face before sleep gave her some peace.
