Chapter 14

Why do you even read this? This story sucks sucks so bad ;-; but, thanks anyway, I guess. Also, I'm an idiot. Apparently, there is NO sports festival in Korean schools, and I was only thinking of Japan. Just pretend that this school has an annual sports festival. Enjoy!

Our representative wrote down the participants of the male basketball team, and this is the time where one of the boys get to represent the other class.

Said representative's pen paused above the male basketball team's form, and held her head up high, ready to break the news. "I'm afraid one of us won't be able to join our class's team. One of us has to go."

The students whispers was heard all around the room. I gave a sideways glance to the group of boys sitting behind me. BTS was always as thick as thieves, and everyone in the class knew it. Despite the fact that some of the non-athletic boys in our homeroom refused to join, one of them has to go, and one of the members of BTS surely wasn't one of them. That leaves us with....

"I'll go."

Everyone turned their heads to the Sehun.

"Are you sure, Sehun?" the representative asked.

Sehun offered a small smile. "It's okay. I have a lot of friends in class 2-B." he gave a dry chuckle, "if that's where I'm going."

The representative returned his smile. "Sure! If that's what you want."

I heard sounds of jeers and high fives going around behind me. Ignoring the sound, I rotated my head to observe the class rejoicing and acknowledging Sehun for his 'act of bravery', and eventually met the eyes of the said hero. I gave him a sincere smile and mouthed a 'good luck'. He smiled back and answered with a 'thank you'.

I caught my so-called 'boyfriend' glaring daggers in my way. I childishly, and uncharacteristically stuck my tongue out at him and looked away with a 'hmph'

~~~~~~~~~~~
The day has finally come, and all the training (being a benchwarmer only got as minimal as stretching, and laps, but I had suffer through it everyday, therefore counts as training) I had to endure for the past week better come into fruition. ('m just kidding, I hope that no one gets injured for the sake of me not playing.)
We wore jerseys, color coded according to our class, with ours being red. It tightly clung to my skinny figure, the smooth and shiny texture was all unfamiliar for someone as athletically inept as me.
We all gathered in the auditorium for the opening ceremony, all lined up according to the our classes, or at least the ones we're representing in an orderly manner. We stood erect and attentive at the speakers, and heck, I couldn't be more interested in what they're saying. Note the sarcasm.
My eyes were glued on the floor with disinterest. I listened to unimportant introductions and speeches for the past ten minutes and I felt my patience ebb away. As much as I hate to play, I want to get it over with as soon as possible.
".....and may the sports festival commence!"
I slightly jumped when cheers and rounds of applause erupted from the students. I watched people get all giddy and excited to leave the auditorium at once. Chuckling at the poor boy who got shoved on the way out, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Let's go." Bianca said, with a smile and looped her arm around mine.
"You better not get injured. I don't want to be the one replacing you, amateur." I said with a mocking smirk.
"I don't want to hear that from an amateur, amateur." She quipped back, reflecting my smirk as I playfully elbowed her side.
I took the time to bask in the refreshing atmosphere of the festival. People running towards different courts made the surroundings more bustling and full of life. And for once, I didn't feel scornful of the existence of people. It's amazing how my mood, or even personality changes in a split second.
"Hey, you guys." someone called from behind. We turned to see our beloved representative with an energetic smile on her face, jogging towards us. She slightly went ahead of us and faced us, walking backwards. "Our team plays at ten sharp. Be there or I'll boil your limbs." She laughed and ran away with a distant 'see ya!'
We stopped in our tracks and looked at each other.
"What now?" Bianca asked with a sigh.
My eyes wandered around the bustling campus in thought. Just then, I saw a familiar group of boys roughhousing in their way to the gym. The youngest one caught me looking their way and yelled in my direction, "Hey, you better watch me win, Gabrielle!", with a flirtatious wink.
The action caused Jungkook to get a few pats of approval from his fellow members and elicited a thread of gossiping whispers from the people around us.
Bianca glared their way and protectively clung to my arm.
I groaned in indignance. Just when I had a great mood for once, Jungkook had to ruin it.
I pondered on the thought for a moment. After all, I still have to pretend to be a good girlfriend of his.
"You want to watch the boys play?"
She froze for a moment. It was obvious that she was holding something back from the way her eyebrows knit together and eased in a matter of seconds. "Why?" her voice came out soft, like a whisper, her eyes downcast and fingers tightening around my forearm.
"Why not?" I responded with a casual tone.
"it's fake, right?" She suddenly said, her voice cracking. "You and him?"
My face twisted in confusion. "....huh?"
"It's fake," she repreated, her smile coming out forced and unsure. "Right?"
I tried to process the new emotion coming from Bianca, then it clicked.
"Bianca, do you maybe" I choked only my words. "Like Jungkook?"
Her head snapped towards me and her face scrunched up in disgust. She let go of my arm like it was on fire. I could see her cringe.
So, that's a no?
"Of course not!" She said anrgily. Despite it her outburst, she tried to keep calm as if not to attract more attention than we already do.
I held back a laugh. She said it like it was the most offending thing I said to her ever since we were kids. I almost feel sorry for Jungkook.
She apparently noticed this and hit my shoulder playfully. "That's just beyond mean." She huffed with crossed arms.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I wrapped my arms around her neck. "We're watching the boys then? I mean we don't gave anything to do for the next two hours."
She hummed in thought. "If that's what you want."
"Then let's go."
Maybe the Bianca's sudden change was just her protective nature.
