Hey errybody!!! It's been awhile, hasn't it?

Excuse the mistakes, my lovelies

“I hate dresses.”

“What do you mean?” my mom asked, “You have a ton of dresses in your closet.”

“Okay, then let me rephrase that,” I replied, tugging at the collar of the high-necked dress my mom had forced on me. “I hate wearing dresses that make me feel like I’m in a convent. Why can’t I wear something from this century?”

My mom sighed, and she leaned back against my wall. “Fine, but show me what you want to wear first.”

“Thank you,” I muttered, and I walked past her into my closet. I flicked through the clothes hung up on their hangers until I found a dress that was cute, but one that would also satisfy my mom’s desire for appropriateness.

It was a short-sleeved, mint green lace dress with a white peter pan collar. It came down to just above my knees, and it showed off my curves a lot better than the potato sack my mom wanted me to wear.

“What about this?” I asked, holding it up against my body.

“That’s cute,” my mom replied, tipping her head to the side.

“Can I wear it instead of this lovely frock?” I asked, slight sarcasm accompanying my words.

“Of course, dear daughter,” my mom said, her sarcasm matching mine. Then, she gave me a wink and walked out of my bedroom to go get herself ready. My smile slid from my face as the door closed behind her, and a frown took its place.

Today, the Fire Sun pack was arriving at the pack house for the week of the full moon. With all of the drama with Eli, I’d completely forgotten about their arrival. That was definitely not the best thing for a future Alpha to do, but I’d been otherwise preoccupied.

Now, the downside to being my dad’s first born was that I had to go with him, Fae, and Adam, to receive the Alpha and Beta of the Fire Sun pack. Thankfully, their pack was small, and we had enough guest rooms to fit everyone. Humans, if they ever shown up to our house, would probably think it was a commune.

To prevent suspicion, the pack house had been built in a place hidden from view. Sure, it was weird when any of my soccer teammates wanted to come over and I had to say no, but I wasn’t extremely close with any of them like I was with my pack mates.

I tore off the frock and pulled the lace dress on over my head. Then, I closed the zipper on my side and tugged my hair out from beneath the dress. Then, I grabbed a thin, white sweater and shrugged it on over the dress.

I sat down at my desk and pulled out the small personal mirror I kept tucked away in my drawer. Then, I added some foundation to the dark purple circles under my eyes in an attempt to cover them up. It was pretty much a fail, so I gave up and just rimmed my eyes with black eyeliner and brushed the lashes with mascara.

I grabbed my brush from my dresser and raked it through my hair with almost no gentleness. I glanced at myself in the mirror and raised an eyebrow at how girly I looked. Even though I would rather spend most of my time in t-shirts with leggings or sweatpants, sometimes it was nice to dress up to look nice.

“You know, you should really hurry up.” My head snapped up to see Adam standing in the doorway, and I crossed my arms over my chest.

“Well, don’t you look dapper,” I said, taking in Adam’s starched, white button-up shirt and forest green tie. Even his hair had been combed, which was saying a lot since the boy usually just went with whatever his hair looked like after rolling out of bed.

“You don’t look too shabby either,” Adam replied, tipping his head to the side. “Are you ready to go welcome the Fire Sun pack?”

“I don’t think it’s a matter of being ready as much as it is a matter of being motivated,” I stated, but I placed my brush on my desk, stood up, and followed Adam out of my room. Together, we walked down the hallway and down the stairs.

The pack house was eerily quiet because the rest of the pack was already outside, waiting for the cars to arrive. I glanced at Adam to see his jaw clenched firmly and his eyes clouded, and I frowned. “What’s wrong?” I asked, and Adam shrugged.

“I just don’t like the idea of a rival pack sleeping within our walls,” he answered, “I mean, it doesn’t seem practical, since we’ve pretty much hated each other for the past couple decades.”

“That’s the whole reason we’re doing this Adam,” I replied, “We’re trying to mend that relationship.”

“I know,” he muttered, and he looked away as I opened the front door.

“Maybe you’ll meet your mate,” I suggested in an attempt to make him smile, and I knew I succeeded when I saw the corners of his lips fighting to stay in a straight, firm line.

“Maybe I will,” he echoed, and then we stepped outside. Instantly, I was happy that I’d decided to wear a sweater because the wind had picked up, and I could see some of the less fortunate pack members shivering in the cold.

Adam and I made our way to the front of the pack, and I caught sight of Eli standing with Troy and my mom. Before I went to join my dad and Fae, I slipped up behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist.

Eli turned his head, and I felt my heart flutter at the sight of his crooked smile. “Hey there,” he said, turning around in my arms so that our chests were facing each other. “I was beginning to wonder if you were skipping out on this.”

“I would,” I replied, “but then my dad would skin me and turn my pelt into a carpet for his office.”

“Well, then I’m glad you came,” Eli said, and he gave me a quick, but sensual, kiss on the lips. I don’t think the electricity that shot through my body every time we kissed would get old. It was just a reminder of the bond we had, and I liked it.

“Dot!”

I pulled out of the kiss and turned to see Adam gesturing for me to hurry up. Then, I caught sight of the cars getting closer and closer on the driveway, and I detangled myself from Eli’s arms. “We’re not done here,” I stated firmly, and Eli’s eyebrows flew up in surprise.

I hurried over to where Adam was standing and took my place next to my dad, who gave me a silent look of amusement. I didn’t have a chance to say anything because I just as the words started to escape my lips, the first car came to a stop in front of us.

A few moments later, the doors opened, and two men about my dad’s age climbed out of the front seats, and two boys, about Adam’s age, climbed out from the back seat. These men were obviously the Alpha and Beta, and the younger boys were their sons.

“Tyson, Peter, I’m so glad you could make it,” my dad greeted the more authoritative man with handshake, and then did the same with the beta.

“Thank you for inviting us, Bo,” Tyson replied with a grin, and then he reached over and shook Fae’s hand. “It’s good to see you, Fae, looking as ferocious as ever.”

“Thanks Tyson,” Fae replied smoothly, and she shook Peter’s hand. For my first impressions, Tyson was definitely the Alpha type. He was loud and charismatic, and in contrast, Peter was silent but he did have a kind face.

“This must be your future Alpha,” my dad said, nodding at the taller of the two teenage boys.

“Yep,” the boy replied, sticking his hand out. “My name’s Zack, and this is my Beta, Tony.” My dad shook Zack and then Tony’s hand, and then he shot me a look that told me to introduce myself.

“Right,” I breathed, and then Adam and I took a step forward. “I’m Dot, the future Alpha, and this is my Beta, Adam.” When Zack shook my hand, I swear to god that he squeezed it slightly, but I just let it go.

As my dad and Tyson exchanged a few words, I took the chance to slyly study Zack. His sandy blond hair was gelled up and he had on a tight, navy shirt. I would be stupid not to find him attractive, but I was with Eli, and I couldn’t see myself with anyone else.

“Well, the guest rooms are ready, so you can tell your pack that they can go make themselves comfortable before dinner.” My dad’s voice suddenly penetrated my thoughts, and I blinked to bring myself back to reality.

Tyson nodded, and then turned and signaled to the rest of the procession of cars that crowded the wide driveway. A minute later, members of the Fire Sun pack started pouring from their cars. I exchanged a glance with Adam, but just as he started to roll his eyes, I saw his entire expression change.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, but Adam didn’t respond. Instead, he took a step past me, and I turned to see what he was staring at. It turned out that he wasn’t the only one staring.

A few yards away stood a girl, completely frozen. Her dark eyes were wide with shock, and she was staring straight at Adam. “Do you guys know each other?” I whispered, but Adam once again ignored me, and he started walking quickly towards her.

“Does he know her?” my dad asked as he leaned close, and I threw my hands in the air.

As Adam threw his arms around her, it hit me. He’d actually found his mate. My head snapped around to look at Eli, and he was grinning. He nodded at me, and I felt a smile stretch across my mouth.

When I turned back to look at Adam and his mate, they were kissing.

I glanced into the living room and frowned. I’d been looking for Eli ever since I’d finished helping to get the Fire Sun pack members settled fifteen minutes ago. First, I’d tried his room, then I’d looked to see if he was with Josh, and when that had failed, I’d tried the living room.

“Looking for someone?”

I turned around to see Zack leaning against the opening to the stairs, his arms folded against his chest. He’d changed into some sweatpants and a black ribbed tank top, and he had the same smirk on his face from when I’d first met him.

“Yeah, I am actually,” I replied, pulling my hair over one shoulder. “Do you need anything?”

“Not particularly,” Zack replied, and he pushed away from the wall and sauntered over to me. “I was actually looking for you.”

“Oh really?” I asked, and I raised an eyebrow curiously. “Now, why’s that?” Zack shrugged like a little schoolboy, and I rolled my eyes. “Don’t even try your charm with me,” I stated harshly, “I can promise you it won’t work.”

“Feisty aren’t we?” Zack commented as he got closer to me.

“Not really,” I replied simply, “We’re more uninterested then feisty.”

Zack chuckled and didn’t stop walking until he was uncomfortably close. “We didn’t really get to talk earlier, and I want to fix that.” God, it was like talking to Eli when I’d first met him; arrogant and annoying.

“Yeah, well, like I said before,” I replied, and I tried to take a step back but I bumped into the wall. “I am looking for someone, so I’m just going to go find them.” My voice trailed off and I tried to walk away, but Zack trapped me by pressing his arm against the wall with me in between them.

“Think about it, Dot,” Zack said, leaning towards me, “If you and I mated, we’d be the power couple and our packs would be the strongest. I’m hot, you’re hot; I think things would work out.”

“Zack,” I growled, “you’re going to want to move your arm before I break it.”

This guy had to be joking. He couldn’t just walk in here and tell me that we should be together. In what world would his cockiness actually attract me because I found it to be one of the most unattractive traits in a person. I had to live with the occasional flare ups in Eli because he was my mate, but I didn’t have to put up with it in someone I didn’t know.

“C’mon, Dot,” Zack replied, tipping his head to the side.

“I swear to god, Zack, I’m going to smack that cocky little—”

My words were cut off when Zack cut off my words with a kiss, and my eyes snapped wide in surprise. I let out a sound of disgust, but just as I put my hands on Zack’s chest to push him off of me, he was ripped away.

“Don’t you touch her!” Eli yelled, and he threw Zack hard against the opposite wall.

“Eli!” I cried, taking a step towards him, “What are you doing?”

“Who  are you?” Zack demanded, standing up tall against Eli, who was still a good four inches taller.

“I’m her fucking mate!” he snarled, and then he threw a right hook that connected with the side of Zack’s head. Zack went sprawling against the floor as people started to hurry into the front hallway where the fight was going on, and I heard people yelling for someone to get the Alphas.

“Eli, stop!” I shouted, but he didn’t listen as Zack lurched to his feet and grabbed Eli around the middle. The boys fell to the ground in a tangle mass of swinging limbs, and I tried to pry them away from each other, but with absolutely no success.

“Stop!”

In the second that my dad’s voice rang out loudly and angrily throughout the front hall, Eli and Zack immediately stopped, and their heads whipped around to face the two Alphas. “You have exactly five seconds to release each other and stand on your feet,” Tyson said menacingly, and my dad nodded stiffly.

Zack and Eli exchanged a look, and then they let go of each other and pushed themselves quickly to their feet. Zack spat some blood onto the floor next to him, and Eli brushed his fingers against the black eye that was already beginning to form.

“My office,” my dad ordered, his eyes narrowed, “Now!”

I started to follow them as they walked back to my dad’s office, but when he saw me, he put his hand out to stop me. “I don’t need you in there, Dot,” my dad stated, “I don’t need any more trouble.”

“But, I didn’t—” My dad gave me a look that told me not to protest, and I shrank back. He could be scary when he wanted to be, and right now, my dad wanted to be scary.

As I watched the boys head down the hallway to my dad’s office, where I’m sure they were going to be harshly punished, I became aware of everyone’s eyes trained on me. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks in embarrassment, and I quickly turned and hurried up the stairs to my room.

Despite what all of the romance novels said, being fought over by two guys was not fun.

Well, here's the new chapter!!!

It's been awhile, but I just needed to take a step back from this story and reexamine where I was taking it. I didn't want to put a piece of crap chapter out there, so I decided to wait until I knew what I was writing was good.

The song on the side is amazing, but its not on itunes yet, or spotify, which is incredibly frustrating.
