It was a good day.

The weather was sunny, though it rained last night, and she had gotten breakfast minutes after waking up. She had slipped into a café and stolen some guys waffle when he went to the bathroom. Best part was he only took one bite out of it. Now here she was, brown curls bouncing around her as she quickly walked and weaved her way around the other citizens in Hells Kitchen.

She glanced upwards. Apartments. She was trying to find somewhere to break into and steal from tonight. No, she wasn't going to steal jewelry. That would be Illogical. Some change and food, yes. Money to buy food when she couldn't steal it – like in the day time – and food to keep her alive. She got tired of looking through the dumpster years ago. She stopped looking at the buildings long enough to notice someone. A elderly man in a large coat with a wool hat had his head bent over a newspaper. She recognized Billy Mccaile.

She skipped over, "Hi, Billy. How are you?" ten years of being homeless didn't seem to wipe off much of her manners. The man turned and smiled, "Hello, Alice. I'm fine. Come to take a look?" he offered her the newspaper and gave her this look, "I think you'll find it quite interesting."

She took it from his old hands, bent and mangled with arthritis, and read the article on the second page. Thief steals food, leaves valuables' behind. Her eyes widen. She was on the second page of the newspaper? Not her face, but... They reported her? For stealing some food they could easily replace!?

"whoever it is didn't take much. I had a very lovely necklace sitting around and they ignored it and took the entire fruit bowl instead! It was a second hand necklace, but the rocks look like proper jewels, so they could have easily faked a high price." Says one person, who remained anonymous. She was smart. She didn't put her name, or didn't let the reporter put down her name. Alice looked at Billy, "You should be more careful," he started

"They reported stolen food. Stuff that I eat. They aren't going to find anything that links to me." Alice laughed, or giggled, as Billy called it. She read on:

"whoever they are stole a chicken – A half cooked chicken, my dinner the night before it was stolen. It was good so Id say they enjoyed it, but they also took some coin change. Hardly enough, only a couple coins."

That might be a bigger problem. The stolen money was more concerning than the food, and could get the police on her, but she figured it would take awhile. She only started taking loose change recently. She figured they would all be busy with the guy on the first page: Masked vigilante beats up hells kitchen's crime. That would be much more interesting than a food thief.

She gave the newspaper back to Billy, "Thanks, Billy. I'll see you around."

"Good luck, Ally."

She skipped off, pushing what she just read from her mind. She would be fine. Totally fine.

Later that night she had climbed up a drain pipe and onto a fire escape, taking out a knife she had run it under the window frame and unlocked it, opened it and slipped inside. She walked around the apartment and found the kitchen. She looked in the fridge. Nothing but beer. Ugh. She turned to the cabinets, uncooked, unopened packages. No good. She found biscuits, specifically cookies. She opened the back and put one in her mouth as she turned around.

The light switched on.

In front of her were two tall men, both with short hair, staring at her. It was complete silence as she chewed the cookie and thought of something to do. She swallowed after a moment, her eyes glancing between the two, "Hey." She took another bite of her cookie.
