"This is why I never leave my room," Ivy murmurs to herself, glancing up at Bill every few seconds.
He is sat at the girl's bed, looking absolutely depressed. Bill feels guilty for everything that just happened. He feels guilty for dragging her into the mess, and he wishes that he could simply take back today. He just wants his brother back.
"I-I'm sorry..." he apologizes, for the 5th time.
Ivy stops pacing, and turns to him. She gives him a soft smile. "It's okay, Bill. I know you didn't mean for all of that to happen. Just give everyone some space, things will work out."
He nods his head a bit, letting out a deep sigh.
"C-Could I stay the n-night?"
"Yeah, sure."
Ivy moves to take a seat by Bill. She pulls out her book and allows her eyes to dance back and forth across the page. Bill pretends to distract himself with a magazine she had out, but really, his eyes can't seem to drift away from the girl's frame.
He can't stop thinking about what happened earlier in the house.
"I-It was scared of you..." he blurts, causing the girl to look up from her book. She furrows her brows a little, "what do you mean? Who?"
"The clown." Bill states, pushing her book away a little. "H-He was s-s-scared of you.."
Ivy shrugs a little, thinking back to the event as well. She attempts to find any reason for the clown to fear her, but she can think of any. "Yeah...I guess he was. I don't know why, I mean, he doesn't scare me—"
"That's why!" Bill interrupts, dots seeming to connect in his head, "h-he must b-be afraid since you aren't s-s-scared of him..."
Ivy nods a little.
"I guess. I feel nothing anymore."
Bill frowns at that statement. "I-I wish I could help you..."
"Yeah, me too." Ivy agrees, her eyes drift to her lap as she frowns deeply. Her hands are rested on her thighs, and she thinks back to the way Novocane felt. Before she knows it, Bill's hand reaches over and wrap itself within her own.
She looks up to him with a questioning look. He doesn't meet her eyes, instead he glances around at her room. A bit of a blush coats his cheeks.
Ivy smiles a little, appreciating the gesture.
Right now, she is so caught up between having feelings for Bill, and having feelings for Richie. On one hand, Richie hurt her once. He could easily do it again. Plus, he left her. For Janice.
On the the other hand, Bill is nice to her. He treats her right. He's always there, and he can relate to her.
Ivy's eyes remain glued to Bill, while his eyes wander around. Finally, he turns to meet her eyes. They stay staring at each other for a about a minute, before Bill finally makes a decision. He leans in and kisses the girl.
And she kisses back.
