Chapter 7
I walked into the shack seeing two little rooms that reminded me of a kitchen and a living room. They were conjoined rooms with mattresses and a couch in the first one and a sink, stove and fridge in the next. It looked like it had more, due to the wall continuing, blocking the view from the doorway. I walked into the shack more as I looked around in surprise. "This is just like a house. You guys been staying here long?" I asked as the boys walked towards a door in the kitchen. "No. But it's the only place that dad found for us. It's cozy, isn't it?" Eden asked as I turned to her. She held her hands behind her as she cracked a friendly smile. I smiled back to feel comfort from her bubbly personality. A door opened as Colt spoke. "You still wanna see your devil friend?" he asked in an upsetting tone. He sounded like he was aggravated and just wanted me to be out. Roen looked out the window at the porch as he spoke. "Yeah, we should, just in case someone comes," he said, as the boys opened up a door, which revealed a staircase. "Come on, we're keeping him down here," Tim said, as he started to walk down the stairs. I walked up slowly towards the staircase as I looked down, seeing it on the dark side. "Are you coming or what?" he snapped as I sighed. "Oh, sorry," I said, as I started to follow down the stairs, with Eden right behind me. I took my steps carefully as I tried to keep up. I sighed as I felt fear starting to grow within me. Did Roen's boys have a plan of some sort without him knowing? I followed as I looked up, seeing the boys walking a bit faster as they descended down the stairs. Colt looked back at me, as he cracked what looks like to be an evil grin before looking back forward. "Boys, be nice" Roen reminded as I sighed. Yep, these boys had something planned. But what?
We walked into a hallway that branched out into two tunnels, one with a light above it and one that didn't. Both hallways gave an eerie feeling, one that reminded me of being kidnapped by my dad. I put my hands to the side of me as I started to feel ice form around them. "This way. And calm down, I don't want to freeze. It's cold enough down here, to begin with," Colt said, as he started to walk down the lit up hallway. I followed behind, as to keep up with the boys. I took a peek behind me as to look at Eden. She sighed as she kept quiet, with Roen right behind her, doing the same. I heard unlocking of a door as Colt stepped aside. Tim walked in as he turned on some lights and looked around. He turned back as he spoke. "Ok, come in," he said as he walked into the room. I followed calmly behind him as I saw a dark room with a couple of dim lights above everything. At the corner of the room lied a bed, with a boy sleeping in it. I looked at him in shock as I spoke. "Max," I said with a gasp, studying the old allie as he lied there in his bed. His light brown hair was a tad bit longer than when last time I saw him. He wore sweat pants with a black shirt that buttoned up. His eyes were closed due to being asleep. I looked at him as I walked up, not able to take my eyes off him.
"Don't go near him. We don't think he's the same person that you recognize" Tim said, as shifting entered the bed. "Didn't I tell you mutts to keep your voices down?" Max growled as he opened his eyes. Tim growled back as he spoke. "How dare you speak to us like that, especially around our dad," he said, as Max opened his eyes. He swung a glare at Tim as he started to get up. "You're lucky I'm not near a body of water. You'd be dead in a sec" he said, as he looked at me in shock. I sighed as to noticed it was the same friend that hung out with Aaron, but something seemed off about him. Max cracked a smile as he spoke. "You're still in the human world?" he asked, as he walked up to me. He also seemed taller than last time, but that's probably because we were younger when he was here last. "Yeah. I can't believe your ok" I said, as Max just stared at me. I studied him in silence as I felt a strange feeling that came over me. Was this the same kid that fought alongside Aaron and me? I studied him as I started to feel a bit scared. Maybe he was different. Max smiled as he put up his hand and rested it on my head as he started to rub it. "You're more grown up than I remember," he said, as I looked at him in confusion. Max looked at Roen and his kids as he spoke. "May I have some alone time with Ella?" he asked, as Tim growled. "Why do you need" he started as Roen put a hand on his son. "It's ok Tim. Their good friends. I don't think that Max would hurt her, knowing her boyfriend" he said, as Max looked at Roen in confusion. "Thanks, Roen," Max said, as Roen nodded, then followed his kids out and shut the door behind him.
I sighed as I looked out the window, trying not to stare at Max. I looked at him anyway when he cleared his throat. "Sorry, I'm not really comfortable right now," I said as Max scooted over and patted the bed next to him. "Sit with me Ella," he said, as I nodded. I walked over to the bed as I sat down, leaving a little space between us. I shifted to face him more, as he leaned back against the wall. "So, how's life?" he asked as I sighed. "Ok, I guess. Just school" I said, as Max continued to study me. "Your afraid," he said, as I looked up in shock. "What?" I asked as Max looked at the door. "Roen's kids. You're afraid of his boys" he said as I nodded. "Yeah. They don't seem to like my dad at all. They think I'm just like him" I said, as Max continued to watch me. "They're not really fun to be around. I've hung out with them in the immortal world" he said, with a huff. I looked on the bed as I felt weirded out a bit. Why did Max seem scary? The room fell silent as he sighed. "Is Aaron still around?" he asked as I looked at him. "Yeah. He lives with me at the Tachibana residence." Max looked at me as he cracked a smile. "So, he lives with you?" he asked, as I realized that certain tone. Max always thought Aaron and I should be together. He always called me Aaron's girlfriend when I first met him. I nodded to answer him back. Max sighed as he spoke. "I knew there's something with you two. Dating yet?" he asked as he turned to me. I smiled as I recognized the old friend I once knew. "Yeah. We've been together since you left" I said with a smile.
Max sighed as he spoke. "FINALLY!" he yelled as he looked at me. "About time you both started dating," he said, as I chuckled. And there he was, the Max I knew. I shook my head as I looked down in embarrassment. "Did you have to say that?" I asked as Max sighed. "Well yeah. I've been trying to get you guys together for a while" he said as I chuckled. "Yep. Ritska and her friend call us cute all the time" I said, as Max laughed. "I bet they do. Because I'm not there to do it" he said, as I looked at him. "Oh my goodness. You had to say that?" I asked as he chuckled. He sighed as he spoke. "Just like the old days," he said, as I nodded. "Only our dad's were evil back then. Now, they seemed to be different" I said, as Max sighed. "You don't know the half of it," he said, as I looked back at him. "What do you mean?" I asked as Max sighed. "I can't really tell you. He'll hear" he said, as I studied him. "What are you talking about?" I asked as he showed me his earing. It was a metal clip that had a bright red dot on it. I looked at it in confusion. "What is that?" I asked as Max sighed. "It's a tracking device. My dad put it on when they went back to our world. It's" he said, as he winced in pain. He held his ear like it was going to fall off. "MAX," I said, but he put his arm out to stop me. "Don't go near me, Ella. It might hurt you" he said as he winced again.
He took a couple of deep breaths due to being in pain. "That hurt," he said, as he leaned back against the wall. I studied him as he looked at me. "It's ok Ella. I'm fine" he said, as I shook my head. "No. What was that? Are you some type of prisoner?" I asked as Max looked at me. "That's why I'm here. They can't get me " he said, as it shocked him again. Max fell off the bed as he screamed in pain. I watched him as he lied on his back, gasping like he ran out of air. I stood there in shock as he spoke. "Ella, listen to me. Our dads aren't here to be good as you think. Don't trust them, that's what they want you to do" he said, as he winced again. He took deep breaths as he tried to settle down. "Are you going to be alright?" I asked as Max nodded. "Yeah, going to be fine," he said, as he looked at me. "Listen Ella. Our parents are still evil and their planning something dangerous" he said, as I sighed. I thought back to what my dad wanted before as I couldn't think of it. "How do you know that?" I asked as Max looked at me. "Because of a vampire family called the Sakamaki's. Their here to help stop them" he said, as I jolted, remembering the strange limo earlier in the week. I jolted in shock. "I had that feeling," I said, as Max winced in pain. "Ella, come closer. I need to tell you something and they can't hear" he said, as he started to get back up. I leaned closer to him as he pulled me to him. I felt his breath up against my cheek as he spoke. "Don't let Roen's kids know, but give Aaron the heads up. There's more" he said as he winced again. I looked at him, confused by the statement. "More? Like more devil kids?" I asked as Max pulled me so my back pressed against his stomach and cupped his hand over my mouth. I jumped in fear as I settled down.
Max looked at the door as he waited a few moments. He bent down to whisper in my ear. "Shh, they can't know," he said, as he looked up at the door. My eyes widened as I tried to stay calm and think. Max seemed to be a little crazy and not his old crazy. What happened to him? He bent down towards my ear as he whispered. "This is just between you, me, Aaron and the Tachibana's. Our dads are up to no good and I don't know what they're planning. They brought more devils and their planning on something horrible. Their just waiting for the right moment. Please, Ella. Don't let them win. Because if they do, this world will be changed and not in a good way" he said as he let go and fell to the floor. "Ella. Please leave. Thank you for seeing me" he said, as he rested his head on the floor. I tried to keep calm as I backed up, taking in what he just told me. "What are they planning?" I whispered to myself as I walked out, giving Max time to rest.
I started to walk out in thought. I opened the door as I turned to look at Max, seeing him sleeping but looking hurt as well. I sighed as I walked out into the living room with my head down. "So, what did he tell you?" Roen asked as I looked up at him. "Not much. He just fell asleep again" I said as Roen huffed. "You should probably go home. Lindo's probably worried" he said, as I nodded. "Yeah, that's probably the best thing at the moment," I said, as I looked at him. I started to walk as I walked right into Colt. "Oh, dad. Does she really need to go right now?" he asked, as he wrapped his clawed hands around my arms and tightened his grip. Roen nodded as he sighed. "Yeah. It's best for her to be home. Don't want your dad getting suspicious right now" he said, as I sighed. "Right," I said, as I looked at Roen's kids. I nodded towards them as I spoke. "It was nice meeting you all. Please stay safe" I said, as I turned to walk out. The boys gave me a creepy smile, as they stayed silent. Eden ran up as she gave me a hug. "Stay safe Ella. I hope I see you soon" she said, as she cracked a smile. I smiled back as I spoke. "I'll probably see you soon. Stay safe everyone" I waved as I turned to walk out of the shack. Claws were wrapped around me as a head was rested on my shoulder. "I hope I get to see you soon, Arnold air," Tim said with a slight chuckle, sounding a little creepy. I nodded as I waved again, then walked out completely.
