Chapter 4

I followed Azuna to the nurse's room just as she suggested. She kept looking back at me to make sure that I was still following behind her. She looked back, as she smiled. "It's going to be ok Ella. We're almost there" she said, as I nodded. I looked up ahead of me as I thought to myself.  The school ended up getting a new nurse this year, which I haven't met her yet. I realized that Azuna kept going faster as we ran.  She really needed me to go to the nurse's room.  We slowed down as she stopped at a door.  I studied the door, seeing it a little different. It was a solid black door, with a dark purple bat on it.  I cocked my head as I backed up. "What's wrong Ella?" Azuna asked as I looked at her. "Why is there a bat on the door?" I whispered as Azuna looked at the door. "Maybe the nurse has a theme," she said, as I sighed. "Or the nurse is a vampire," I said, as I looked at the door again.  Azuna huffed as she spoke. "Just go in there and see what the nurse thinks you should do. You might be coming down with a cold" she said, as I sighed.  I stood up straight as I crossed my arms, studying the door. "Your right. This could be nothing sketchy" I said, as Azuna nodded. "That's it.  Just keep thinking that" she said, as she knocked.  The air went silent, except for typing that came from inside the room. Azuna sighed as she knocked again, which stopped the typing. "Come in" a woman's voice spoke from behind the door. "See Ella, this is going to be normal," she said, as she opened the door and I followed behind her.

The room didn't look different, except that the bed was bordered up by a removable wall. What was behind that? I looked around to see anything different, but there wasn't. At the desk was a woman that was absolutely beautiful. She had long, purple hair that draped down her back. She had bright green eyes and red lips.  She wore a blue gown, with three red roses going down the side shoulder.  "Hello. What can I do for you?" she asked, as I looked at Azuna. Azuna looked at me as she mouthed you'll be fine. She looked at the woman as she spoke. "Sorry to interrupt your day. My friend is kinda getting sick and we were wondering if she could lay in here for a while" she explained.  The woman looked at me, as I studied her.  Her eyes were an emerald green, that glowed even though the light didn't hit them. She had nothing on her arms and hands, showing pale skin and blood red nails.  "You do look a little pale," she said, as she walked up to me.  She put her hand on my forehead as to feel for a fever.  "You must be getting stressed. Why don't you lie down and I'll see what I can do" she said, as she pointed at the blind from across the room.  "I'm going back to class, Ella. Get some rest" Azuna said, as she walked out.  I looked at the nurse as I walked back with her.  She patted the bed as she spoke. "Jump right up here and lie down. I'll see what I have" she said, as I did what she said.

I walked up to the bed, knowing that I couldn't run at the moment.  I studied the girl as I sighed.  She didn't seem so bad. Maybe she wasn't a vampire.  I jumped on the bed as I lied down, getting comfy.  The nurse looked back as she started to speak. "What's your name?" she asked, as I looked at her.  She went into a draw and started to pull out different things.  "Ella Kaginuki," I said, as the girl turned back to me.  "Are you related to Rem Kaginuki?" she asked, as I nodded. "Rem's my dad," I said, as she looked at me in shock. "Really? So you're a devil?" she asked as I gulped. "Yep," I said, feeling weirded out by the being.  I looked up at her as I spoke. "Um, sorry if this is rude to ask, but I didn't get your name," I said, as the woman turned around, with a thermometer in her hand.  "Sit up. My name is Cordelia.  My three children work in the school as well" she said, as I sat up.  I winced when she stuck something in my ear.  "Calm down. I'm just taking your temperature" she said, as I heard the thermometer click. She pulled out the thermometer as she looked at it.  "Hmm. Your getting stressed out.  Anything weird happening during school?" she asked, as I looked at her. I studied her as she put away the thermometer and washed her hands. She looked at me, darting a nasty glare at me like she was ordering me to speak. I quickly jumped off the bed as I turned around and prepared for a fight.  Cordelia looked at me as she glared. "Just like your dad, aren't you?" she asked, as I felt my hands growing cold. "Stay right there, I'm am nothing like my dad. My dad hurts people, I don't" I said, as Cordelia looked at me more.

She looked down at my hands as she spoke. "Alright, just don't freeze anything during school. You don't want your dad to find out about this" she said, as I stood straight. I nodded as I spoke. "I understand completely. They should never find out about this" I said, as she cracked a smile.  She looked at me as she spoke. "If your so paranoid about devils and vampires, you should go see someone about it. I recommend seeing Shu Sakamaki. He's very good and he'll get those thoughts right out of your mind" she said, as she walked up to her desk. She went into the big draw, as she pulled up a little card and handed it to me. I took it as I looked at it. It was a black card with red writing. "Shu Sakamaki. Located on 2nd ave" I read aloud.  "That's close to where I live," I said, as I looked up at Cordelia. She smiled as she nodded. "He's very good. He also puts people to sleep using hypnosis. A lot of doctors recommend him to people" she said as I sighed. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind," I said, as the bell rang.  "Alright, Ella. If your feeling better, you can go to your next class" she said, as I nodded.  "Ok. Thank you Mrs. Sakamaki" I said, as I bowed towards her and left the room.  I walked a little down the hallway as I looked back to the door. "Another vampire?" I whispered to myself, as I realized that nothing in that room helped.  I looked down at the card as I sighed.  "How many are there?"I asked as I was pulled into a hug. "How's your day going, Ella? Getting better?" a familiar voice said. I looked to see that it was Aaron.  I hugged him back as I looked at him. "The nurse is creepy," I said, as he sighed. "You're still having that day, aren't you?" he asked as he pulled away from me. "Let me walk you to your next class. Then I got to go to mine" he said as he grabbed my hand and guided me up the stairs.

We got all the way up to the stairs as I stopped. Aaron turned around as he spoke. "What's wrong Ella?" he asked, as I studied the floor. I didn't say anything, just stood there in silence.  Walking came up to me as arms wrapped around me. "It's going to be ok Ella. I won't let anything hurt you" Aaron said, as he placed his hand on the back of my head.  "Am I going crazy?" I asked him.  Aaron didn't speak, just sighed.  We stayed like that for a few moments as we pulled back from each other. "Ella, maybe you should just go home. Maybe it's not a good thing to be here right now" he said, as I looked at him. "But. What would Lindo say if I came home early?" I asked as Aaron sighed. "He might not like it, but at least you'll get to relax," he said, as I looked up at him.  Aaron cracked a smile as I sighed. I looked back down at the floor as I sighed. "I'm going to try to continue. Maybe if I focus on school, it will help me a bit more" I said, as I walked up the stairs. I walked back to Aaron as I hugged him. "Thank you. For helping me out with this" I said, as I gave him a tight squeeze. We pulled away slowly as I looked up at him.  I picked up my backpack as I started to walk up the stairs. I turned back to Aaron as I spoke. "I'm going to try the class again. I'll see you after school" I said, as I continued up the stairs.

I was almost up the stairs as Aron spoke. "Wait, before you go," he said, as I turned back to him. "Something the matter?" I asked as he sighed. "Um," he said, as he looked out the window.  He looked back at me to finish his statement. "Have you seen Max lately?  You met with our parents this morning, right?" he asked as I studied him.  I knew he missed his best friend, but I didn't know how much.  I shook my head as I spoke. "I met with our parents this morning, first thing.  But about Max, I have no clue.  Mage asked about him too. I guess they don't know where he is either" I said, as Aaron sighed. "Alright, this is weird," he said, as I walked down the steps and up to him. "I'm tempted just to go home, but Lindo will say something about it," I said, as Aaron nodded.  "Maybe going home for you would be best. Just tell him that you were sent home sick" he said, as the bell to the next class rang. I sighed as I shook my head. "But wouldn't the nurse call him if I was going home early?" I asked as Aaron sighed. "Just say that you wanted to save a phone call and just walk home. He would understand completely" he said, as I sighed. "I think I'll take my chances with Lindo. If I see another vampire, I'll go insane" I said, as I pushed on the emergency door and opened it. I stopped and turned back to Aaron. "I'll see you after school.  That is if I'm up" I said as Aaron nodded. "That'll be great.  Go get some rest" he said as I nodded. "I'll see you at home," I said, as I walked out of school and down the yard.

I sighed as I looked up at the road, seeing it perfectly normal.  I started to calm down as I saw the red limo from last night.  I stopped as I watched it start to roll past me and continued the ride.  "So, those are Lindo's friends?  Then why do they keep following me?" I asked as I sighed.  I looked around the area as I heard a bunch of screaming girls. "OH MY GOSH! HI KOU!" a girl screamed from behind, making me turn around. I saw a group of girls surrounding a man with short, blond hair and blue eyes.  He was trying to make his way through the crowd that surrounded him. He looked like he was entering the school. "KOU, can I get your autograph?" another girl shouted above the crowd. The man stopped as he sighed a few backpacks and gave some of the girls a hug. I studied him as he looked at me and cracked a smile.  A sharp fang pointed out of his mouth as he smiled. I fisted my hands, feeling the cold over them, ready for an attack. I looked down at them as I turned around and ran as fast as I could, not stopping until I got home.
