SOPHIE'S POV

" WHAT?" I screeched so loud I bet the whole Lost Cities could hear me.

" And....he wants me to dump you too." Tam looked at the floor.

" WHAT?" I screeched again, then buried my face in my palms. " This is great, just great," I muttered. 

" Sophie," Tam placed a hand on my back. " It'll be fine, something'll work out. I promise. We'll make it through this. I'm NOT going to join the Neverseen. Unless....." He cut off and I looked up to see him biting his lip. 

" Unless what?" I asked, my voice a little quivery. 

" Soph, what if they make me? Councillor Emery said they could force me too. I'm so scared, Sophie, what do I do?"

A rage of fury at the Council came to me. 

" I'm going to talk to the Council, to get you out of this." My voice came out strong and I stood up.

" Wait," Tam held up both of his hands. 

" This is about me, remember? As much as I want you to help, you can't. It'll just both of us in trouble."

I sighed. " Yeah. I'm really sorry, Tam, but I'm so mad!" I clenched my fists. 

" We should go tell the others," He said.

I nodded. " Okay. Fine."

We walked down the hall to the table and told the others everything Tam knew. 

" WHAT?" Biana screeched. " They can't make you do that!" Dex protested. " Stupid Councillors," Keefe muttered loudly. " I can't believe this," Linh's face scrunched up in worry. " Unbelieveable," Fitz shook his head. 

And in one voice they all decided, " Were going to go talk to the council right now." Everyone stood up from their chairs.

" Nope," Tam shook his head. " I'm going. And so is Sophie. That's enough. Just wish us luck." My boyfriend grabbed my elbow as I looked at him in surprise. 

" Bye!" I called and waved as we went out the door. 

" I need you," Tam turned to face me and grabbed my palms.

I swallowed hard. " Yeah. But Tam, I need you too. I can't lose you."

He kissed my forehead. " You won't. We're doing this together. We're unstoppable."

That was the only thing I tried to think about as we stepped into the light.
