Report

Angelina, Vlad, and everyone else returned to the castle with bliss. However, the married couple decided to celebrate a small feast among themselves. Vlad also decided that the servants could have a break, and they would be given food and drinks to celebrate among their own. When the news was spread, the castle occupants were shocked by the sudden order, but when they heard that the Voivode had remarried. Many people had mixed feelings, but everyone knew it was best not to overreact since they didn't want to suffer the Voivode's wrath.

Still, it was the first time Vlad had given something to the servants to celebrate, and no one wanted to miss the opportunity. The castle became lively with private celebrations.

The married couple immediately went to their son's room, where another wet nurse watched over him. Their son, Radu, was soundly asleep. Angelina gently touched her son's black hair. "He's so small. Premature babies don't always survive in this era."

Vlad watched as his son was soundly asleep. He felt he could watch his son all day, and seeing him sleeping peacefully was a blessing. He looked at the wet nurse, who tried hard not to pay too much attention, but she looked amused. "Please leave us. We will watch over our son. Go enjoy the festivities with the other servants."

The wet nurse didn't expect the Voivode's kind words. Still, she was thrilled to have the opportunity to have some freedom. She bowed and thanked the couple for their kindness and left them alone.

"How about in your time? Do these premature children survive?"

"A high percentage of them do. In my time, we have much advanced technology that helps prolong human lifespan." Angelina looked at her son as if he were God's gift. She was a mother, something she thought would never happen. "I can't believe we're parents and married." Angelina then focused on her now-husband. "I would have never dreamed that I would marry a historical figure who impales people for a living."

Vlad chuckled as he put an arm around his now-wife. His wife made him shiver in anticipation that he had married a woman he had feelings for. "Hm, I would have never imagined marrying a loudmouth from the supposed future." Angelina looked offended, making Vlad chuckle. "Still, I wouldn't have it any other way. How do people celebrate weddings in your time?" The Voivode listened intently as Angelina explained that weddings were celebrated differently worldwide. She spoke about her home country and how weddings were celebrated. "So it is not too different from this time."

"Yeah, you know. Where I am from. The newlywed couple dance."

"Dance?"

"Yeah, couples choose a song to dance that is considered special to the couple. It also represents their love." Angelina cleared her throat as her face slowly became warm.

The couple was silent, and only Radu's quiet snores echoed in the room. Vlad couldn't help but chuckle at his wife's shyness. Knowing the consequences, she had dared to fight against him, but she was shy to ask him for a dance. Angelina was always full of surprises, and that was one of the many reasons he loved her.

He loved her.

Vlad motioned with his right hand. "Dance with me."

Angelina looked up at him and pouted. "It would have been nice if you asked in a gentleman-like manner."

"I don't ask, I demand. You should expect that from the Voivode of Wallachia."

"Well, I am now wife of the Voivode of Wallachia. As your wife, I demand you ask me to dance...Voivode."

How she called him by his title excited Vlad. He wanted to take her there and then, but he remembered that his wife was still healing from the birth of their son. He didn't want to strain or cause her too much distress. Vlad rolled his eyes in defiance and huffed, "Will you dance with me, wife?"

Hearing the word 'wife' sent a shiver down Angelina's spine. She enjoyed hearing her new title. Giving him a little bow, she walked away from the crib and said, "I shall...husband."

Vlad glanced at his sleeping son, "Your mother truly loves testing my limits."

Angelina teasingly pouted, "Same as your father."

The couple stood in the center of the room, looking at each other. Their eyes connected, as if they were connecting to each other's souls. Vlad motioned with his right hand again, which his wife gladly accepted. "How do you dance?"

"We slow dance. Follow my lead, and once you get the hang of it, you can lead." Angelina moved closer to her husband, grabbed his left hand, and put it on her waist. She then led him to slow dance. The steps were simple, but Vlad wasn't used to dancing her way. However, seeing how simple it was, he eventually got the hang of it. Angelina let him take the lead, and she put herself closer to her husband. Her head was on his chest, hearing his heartbeat.

Their bodies were intertwined with one another's.

Vlad held onto Angelina tightly, enjoying her touch and warmth. He never danced so close to anyone, but he couldn't deny that he enjoyed it. Vlad never thought that dancing could be very intimate.

Both were silent, and Vlad couldn't help but contemplate his brother's proposal. Now that he was married to Angelina, they both had a son. Vlad felt he didn't want to leave the life he had always wanted. They could leave somewhere far, or he could go with Angelina to her time, but he thought about the consequences if he changed fate. Would his family suffer? Would his people suffer? Vlad was always consumed with revenge and protecting his country's culture and faith.

Still, he had a family.

Was it selfish of him to want his family and peace?

"Angelina..." His wife looked up at him, and he did the same. They stopped dancing. Vlad gently touched her face and motioned for her to come closer to his face. They passionately kissed; Angelina then wrapped her arms around Vlad's shoulders as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

Then, a firm knock echoed, breaking their moment; they groaned in annoyance. "I will check on Radu."

Vlad immediately went to the door to see who dared interrupt him on his and Angelina's day. Opening the door, Bioan was seen. Before Vlad could ask, he noticed Bioan's grim expression. "What is it?"

"Voivode, please forgive me, but I received an alarming report. There was an attack on a nearby village in Wallachia. Witnesses say that the Ottomans were responsible."
