Chapter 20: Lightning Troubles

I woke up, feeling slightly light headed.

'I guess today is the day,' I thought.

It was almost seven. I realized that my alarm was going of. It was a sci-fi alarm and was really loud. The most annoying sound in the world. I hated waking up.

I sighed and swung myself out of bed, knowing that I wouldn't get back to sleep. I reached for my laptop and opened it up. The past few days I had also been working on the 'story' of Derrick and Rogan, but I had added myself and Reflamen into the equation as well, so everything that did happen while I wrote happened in the other world. I also caught up on what had happened when I was actually in the other world.

I sighed and opened to the word document I had been writing on. I scrolled down to the end and started tapping away on the key board again.

Derrick started to make his way across the castle wall. The guards hadn't noticed him yet, thank goodness. He was quite sure he would be able to take them on, especially since he had his new blade, but he didn't want the whole city after him. We would prefer not to wipe out the defences of this city.

Luckily the blade also advanced his shadow powers, so that he could make himself nearly invisible, and was able to basically change into any shadow he wanted.

Rele'an was hard enough to get to, now the last thing he wanted was to have to leave.

He had managed to find out where the arterfact was though. He new what it was the moment he layed his eyes on it. It was a staff of some kind, almost the same shape as a trident, but it only had two forks instead of three. He had felt the energy coming of that thing, he had no doubt that they would destroy the king with that thing.

But now he just had to get it. He started made his way down the wall and into the keep grounds. He only hoped that there were no guards around. There wasn't, now all he had to do was climb up the castle wall...

"Derrick! Time to wake up!" yelled Rena.

"i'm coming!" I yelled back.

I sighed and closed my computer, I would work on it later.

I walked out to the breakfast table.

"Morning," I said.

"And good morning to you to," replied Rena, "Good sleep."

I nodded, then looked at my watch. It was seven thirty. My siblings were already at the table having breakfast.

"Hey mum," I said.

"Yeah," replied mum.

"You know that I going to 'faint' again today," I said.

"WHAT!" yelled Rena, "Oh yeah, completely forgot about that, do you want to stay home today then? If it doesn't happen then you could just go to school tomorrow."

I nodded, since when had my mum been so lenient with school?

"Okay," I said slowly, if mum said I could stay home then I wasn't about to disagree.

I sat down and started to eat my morning breakfast of cheerios and milk. The others went of to schook, after a bit of complaining about how I wasn't going and all that. When they did I decided to go outside again, back into the marshland hills, as I had now begun to call them.

I flew over the lake, with the help of the wind, and landed back in the place I had been yesterday. I was all battered and black, like a war had happened there, a war had happened. I frowned, some day people would see what I was doing and come to investigate, I didn't want that. I started to imagine an invisible forcefield around the place I was working in. Thr forcefield was exsposed to block the inside from view and show a normal landscape, or as normal as it could, without showing anything I was doing.

When I had finished with the forcefield I started to train. First I started with a run around the mountains. I was feeling slightly dizzy, but that was as expected because it was my last day here for three days. I started imagining things as well, like giants, or knights that I was able to fight with. They were very easy to defeat, on account of my swords and all.

Once I had finished with my run I sat down and for a rest. I imaginered, as I was starting to call it now, a cup of water to my hand. I took a sip and sighed comfortably. I was definitly getting better at this. I finished with the water and chucked the cup away, imagining it to dissolve into thin air. I then got up and started with my training again.

It was around ten o'clock when the first lightning strike happened. I was busy with a small army of around twenty knights. Suddenly my right sword swung around faster then it ever had before. I lightning bolt struck the sword before it faded into nothing. Luckily, since my sword was more fire then metal, the electricity didn't travel down the blade, but it still caused enough of a push to make my arm go numb.

My other sword swung around and detacipated another soldier. My other sword suwng around and blocked another lighting bolt, then another.

'What's happening?' I thought, 'Lightining doesn't strike in the same spot three times in a row.'

My sword blocked another lighting strike.

'Four times,' said Reflamen, 'What's happening, did you imagine this or something?'

'No!' I said blocking another lighting strike, then a sword from one of the knights, 'Why would I imagine lighting striking me?'

'You imagine a lot of things, why would lighting be any different,' replied Reflamen.

'Good point,' I replied.

I dodged under a lighting strike and struck with a both my swords at one knight, cutting him into three peices. I cast a spell that made a fire shockwave spread through the ground, burning up the last ten knights.

'Okay, that was easy,' I thought.

Another lighting strike struck at me, which my swords also intercepted. I wasn't until then that I noticed the sky had turned almost pitch black.

'Where did that come from?' I thought.

Another lighting strike made it's way towards me, then another. If I didn't have two swords I would have died then. Suddenly a small wave of dizziness hit me.

'Oh great, not now,' I thought as I blocked another lighting strike.

I needed to make my way back home, but if I did then the lightning might follow me there.

'Come one think,' I thought, 'Imagination, but I can't imagine when I'm all tence like this.'

'Then relaxe,' replied Reflamen, 'Just let your swords do all the work and you just relaxe.'

I nodded, even though Reflamen couldn't see me. I just stood there and started to relaxe my breathing. My sword shot up as it blocked another lighting strike, I immediatly went tence again.

'Stop, and just imagine, let it flow.' said Reflamen.

I started to take big breaths, trying to ignore when one of my swords flew up and intercepted another lighting strike. I closed my eyes and started to imagine everything going on around me. The storm, the wind, the fact that it wasn't raining. The dark sky. I rock flying up towards my face, which one of the swords blocked. I felt like I wasn't in my body anymore, like I was living in a dream, where I had control. The lightning seemed to move slowly and I could see everything, fell everything.

I ignored the dizziness that was growing stronger every second. I started to imagine the storm receading, the clouds starting to dissappear, and the lighting stopping. I seemed to work, until the storm started to grow again, even bigger then last time. It was in my imagination, yet I wasn't controlling it. I started to fight back the clouds, imagining them dissapearing, vapourizing, even just turning into the white fluffy clouds you usually see, as long as it stopped the lightning, but the clouds just kept coming back, it was as if I was fighting somebody, mentally. Finally I gave up trying to get rid of the clouds and imagnered a yellow, green shield surrounding me.

I still had my eyes closed when I started to walk forwards towards my house. The dizziness was getting stronger, but since I was no longer looking throught my body, I could hardly feel it. I watched as my body jumped over the one of the lakes, I aded it with wind. It landed on the other side, the lighting strikes bouncing harmlessly of the shield. My body jumped over the our fance and into our backyard. I imagined the shield protecting me expanded over my house, and then the rest of the suburb, then the city, so the whole city of Brunstown was protected against the storm.

I opened my eyes and the dizziness came on full force, then I collapsed into a sea of blackness.
