Shadow's P.O.V.
I woke up in what looked like a hospital, an annoying beeping sound steadily became louder and louder.

I groaned as my head ached at each sound, I looked around and saw Sonic laying on a bed, countless machines attached to him, his body was covered in bandages that were slowly turning blood red, he was breathing weakly and his eyes were unfocused.

I gasped and dropped my ears then dashed to Sonic. "Sonic! What happened?" I held his hand and squeezed it to get his attention, but he didn't respond and just stared at the ceiling.

"... Love...?" I hesitantly called him again by his favourite nickname, he always told me how much he loved it and always brought a smile on his face, but this time it wasn't like the others.

"Sonikku!" I turned around to see Rose run to Sonic and hug him as he cried. Surprisingly he snapped out of his thoughts and hugged Amy, petting her gently to calm her down.

"I-it's o-okay Love... I p-promise I'll be o-okay." Sonic told Rose and kissed her forehead, breaking my heart into million pieces.

He called Rose by the nickname I called him the nickname he told me that meant so much to him.

Then I noticed something that shocked me even more. He wasn't wearing his engagement ring, but Rose was.

I had told Rouge to make the ring have Sonic's name on it, it had two gems on it, a red one and a blue one. The one that Rose was wearing was the exact same.

I felt heartbroken, betrayed, how could he do this to me? Five years I've been trying to prove to him how much he meant for me, five years I've believed that I had found the one, but I was wrong, so so wrong.

After a while of awkward silence of them kissing, right in front of me, Sonic looked at me and simply said. "I'm sorry Shad, it just wasn't meant to be."

I couldn't take it anymore and snapped at him. "Did you have to tell me that now? Five years have passed. Five. Fucking. Years!! And you're telling me now?!" I growled and sobbed, immediately regretting what I did as Sonic started panicking, the heart monitor started going crazy as the nurses rushed in the room and tried to keep him alive.

I stared at Sonic as he fought for his life, everything that just happened were replaying in my head.

This can't be happening.

Just when I thought that things couldn't go worse, he looked at Rose and told her the tree words that I used to love to hear.

"I love you..." He said weakly at her as he gave his last breath, the heart monitor finally calming down.

I didn't feel anything at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt my heart shatter as tears appeared in my eyes.

I just lost the love of my life.
