Sonic's P.O.V.
The only thing I remember is flashing images, images of blood, images of terrified faces, images that I want to forget.

I heard screams of pure pain and terror, followed by an unsettling slash and then...

Silence...

I opened my eyes, my fur was covered in blood and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the room.

Everything was bloody red. Eggman's and the rascal's bodies were laying on the floor, their chests were not moving, meaning they were dead, the cuts and bruises on them confirmed that they won't open their eyes again.

I feel horrible.

I killed them.

They're gone.

"Stop whining and go get Shadow." Dark said a little annoyed.

I slowly nodded and looked around, the blood in my fur driving me crazy.

I walked in a room and dropped my ears when I saw Shadow laying in a odd glass coffin.

I quickly dashed to him and let out many tears, tears of guilt, pain and fear. I broke the glass and put my head on Shadow's chest to he if his heart was beating.

I pinned my ears down and grabbed his wrist, hoping that I will feel something, at least a light pulse.

I was relieved to feel his pulse, I quickly took him and dashed to Tails' house. "Tails!!!"

1 Year Later

I was laying on the couch, staring at the ceiling, my body was too weak to move.

I haven't eaten for days, I keep fainting from the lack of sleep and food, Tails has to plug me in a machine to feed me, and drug me to get me to sleep.

Nothing was the same since that day, I didn't want to be called a hero anymore, I didn't want to face anyone, I didn't want to live anymore.

I was supposed to be a hero. A husband. Have a smile on my face all the time and never give up. Well guess what.

Shadow was the only thing that kept me like this.

And now that I betrayed and failed to protect the one I love the most. I'm nothing.

Shadow's been in the hospital for a year, I stayed there for months until they took me home while I was passed out. I was furious, but couldn't do anything about it, I was too weak.

My family has tried countless times to talk to me or even taking me back to the castle, but Tails wouldn't let them, saying that he was the only one who can keep me alive and sane.

He's right, he's the only one, because he knows what keeps me sane. Shadow.

He always asks me questions about my life with Shadow when I'm down, he tries to make some small jokes to make me smile, it works sometimes, and I can see how his face lights up when it does. He also buys me sweets, which was the only thing I ate, and sometimes chillidogs, but unfortunately my system was used to liquid food only, and the chillidogs reminded me too much of Shadow, so never ate them.

I've noticed lately that he was happier than usually, he maybe found a girlfriend, or boyfriend... I don't know... I've forgotten everything I knew before this illusions.

"Sonic?" I slowly open my eyes when I heard my name. Damn it. I fell asleep again.

"Y-yes...?" My voice was raspy and weak as I talked.

"I have a surprise for you." Tails said with a bright smile. That's odd.

"Is it more chocolate...?" I asked with a serious voice but it was intended to be a joke.

"No. Look!" Tails moved to the side, he sounded so excited that made me curious. I tried to see what was such a big surprise to make Tails so excited, but it was a blur for me. I tried rubbing my eyes to see clearly.

When my vision got clear, I dropped my ears and looked at the 'surprise' in shock.

"Sh-Shadow...?!" I felt my eyes getting watery as I saw him smile and walk towards me. Please don't tell me this is an illusion.

"Yes Love?" He asked and knelt next to me then wiped the tears that started streaming down like a waterfall.

I held Shadow's hand that was on my muzzle. "I-is it really you...?" I whispered as I stared at him, my heart was pounding, he's here. He's here!! "I'm so sor-"

I was cut off by Shadow when he kissed me. He kissed me with so much passion that it brought more tears in my eyes.

I slowly kissed back after a while, I was still weak so I soon pulled away for air.

"Don't be sorry. I know you went through a lot... But it wasn't your fault for believing what you saw, I believed it too..." Shadow said as he grabbed and gently squeezed my hand. "Now everything is back to normal..." He added with a soft smile, his voice broke as he said the last word.

I sobbed softly and nodded, my body hurt more and more with each sob. I noticed his ears dropping when he looked at my body, I was skinny, too skinny, and my fur and eyes weren't as bright as usually. "Are you like that because of me...?" He hesitantly asked and rubbed my ear gently, usually I would purr every time he messed with my ears, but now I was too weak.

"I... Couldn't stand the fact that... You almost died because of me..." I lowly said, guilt and sorrow being the only thing I felt.

"You didn't-" He tried to calm me down but he stopped when he realised that what I said was true. "It's okay..." He pinned his ears down.

"I'm sorry...! I really am... Please don't leave me..." I grabbed Shadow's hand tightly, feeling like he wasn't in love with me anymore for everything I did and said. "I'm sorry I talked about Maria... I'm sorry I kicked you... I'm sorry I threw my ring at you... Please don't leave...!" I begged and saw that my words brought tears to his eyes.

"I'm not leaving Sonic! I told you it's okay! I promised to you and your family that I'll be by your side, no matter what happens." He held my hand tightly and caressed my cheek. "I love you..."

I cried at his words, remembering the day he proposed to me, he promised me to make me happy and to by my side forever, he promised that if we ever started a family, he'll protect them with his life.

I felt a smooth metal touch the palm of my hand and Shadow's warm hands placed over it. I looked at him with my ears dropped.

"Sonic... I'm sorry I couldn't protect you... Will you... Give another chance...?" He said, trying to sound calm.

"I... I..." I wanted to say yes, I wanted him to be with me. But... We'll both be weaker if we get back together... I looked at my hand and opened my palm, to see the beautiful ring e had given me that day. This brought a smile on my face, a small, barely visible smile. I was so lucky to have Shadow, why am I thinking so much about it. 

I looked at Shadow, his expression sounded so many emotions, but non of them were the emotions I want to see.

"Yes..." I smiled softly at him, his face lit up immediantely and he hugged me tightly.

"I love you so much..." Shadow said after he pulled away from the hug.

"I love you more." I looked at the ring and wiped the last tears that appeared in my eyes. "So much more."
