6: JULY 2016 - Vacation
This would be her first real vacation in over a year, and Luisa was both excited and nervous. Her college friends Megan Avery and Selina Cortez had insisted that she accompany them to Galveston for a long weekend. They had gotten together and rented a place in a section known as Beachtown. Luisa was told to relax and expect five exciting days and four even more exciting nights in the surf and sand. She had thrown herself into a draconian diet and exercise routine for four weeks to be swimsuit ready.
The first day and night saw only the three of them in the townhouse overlooking the beach, but the following day, four more guests arrived. The minute Luisa saw Min Yoongi and Jung Hoseok walk in with their bags, she felt her palms get sweaty. If these guys were there, it might mean that...
"Jin's here," Hoseok announced happily.
Everyone turned to the front door. Seokjin walked in looking like a movie star. His dark hair had grown out a bit and was tousled to perfection. He raised his dark sunglasses and smiled.
"Hey, Jin!"
Luisa felt her heart almost stop when his eyes met hers. She noticed the change in his countenance, as if he were suddenly sad about something.
A woman walked in after him, and Seokjin's smile disappeared.
"Hi," the woman said brightly. She was a petite, slender blonde with a spectacular cleavage bursting forth from her halter top.
Seokjin looked at her then turned to everyone standing in the room. "Guys, this is Emily. Em, these are my best friends from college. You've met Hobi and Yoongi. That's Megan and Selina over there." His eyes flickered to Luisa then quickly away again. "And, uh, this is Luisa."
"Hi, Emily," Luisa said. "We're glad you're here."
The blonde woman smiled, causing her nose to crinkle and her eyes to partially close. "Thanks to you all for inviting me. Jinnie talks a lot about his college friends, how close you all were. I look forward to getting to know you all." She shuffled on her feet like an excited child.
"Yes, well, any friend of Jinnie's... you know," Megan said. Luisa heard her sarcastic drawl and elbowed her.
"Ooh, those were a lot of stairs," Emily said. "But this is a nice enough place. Maybe you all would like to go to this great resort in Cabo one day. My family and I just love it there. Will we be going to the beach soon? I can't wait to try on my new swimsuit."
"And we can't wait to see it," Hoseok said in a sing-song. His wide smile dimmed slightly when Seokjin scowled at him.
"Good luck to any suit trying to hold those cantaloupes in," Megan whispered to Luisa.
Selina nodded, also lowering her voice to a whisper. "He does seem to have a type, doesn't he? It's like Camilla junior. I don't see how she's better than you."
"Shh," Luisa admonished her. If that was Kim Seokjin's type, then she was nowhere near it. "Yes. Why don't we all get ready? We'll meet out by the beach in about thirty minutes, okay?"
Everyone agreed and began to pick out their bedrooms. The town house had four bedrooms, so Megan and Selina had claimed the largest one with two full-size beds. Luisa had taken a smaller room with one queen-sized bed. Hoseok and Yoongi took the room with two twin beds, leaving the room with a king-sized bed for Seokjin and Emily.
Thirty minutes later, Luisa noticed that the house was finally quiet. Everyone must have already headed down to the beach. She stood by the window staring out at the lagoon visible from the back of the house. Seeing Seokjin had taken her out of her vacation mood. She often wondered how she'd handle seeing him with another woman. She wasn't sure why she felt upset. She was the one who had never called him back to begin with. She'd dated Joshua Mill for a couple of months, so she'd closed the door on anything with Seokjin after that dinner last year.
"Lu?"
Luisa jumped. "Ahh." She spun around. Seokjin was standing at the door to her room, looking so good it should be a sin.
