Alexander Hamilton was born deaf.

He doesn't know why, but it's something he has to live with. All around him, his friends and family live on a Hearing world he's not part of, only a few of them have actually bothered to learn ASL for him. So his solution? Pretend to fit in. It's stupid, inconvenient, and doesn't actually work that well but pretending he can hear makes a part of him feel likes he's connected to the rest of the world at last.

And then he meets John Laurens. Handsome, kind, smart and still stupid John Laurens who he can't communicate with. He can only hold that facade for so long before he confesses he doesn't hear a word of what John says.
