author's note
So... you've stumbled across this story, huh? I'm so glad you did! I sincerely hope that you enjoy reading it, and that it makes you smile :) Now before I begin, I'd just like to say a few words about myself!
I have always loved writing—I've been doing it since I was a wee, little girl. My writing was nothing serious... I would just write a couple of short stories here and there, but I usually spent the majority of my time escaping reality and diving into the unknown, unimaginable, and unpredictable world of fiction.
My writing was only for me—I would NEVER let anyone else read my stories, poems, or essays. I was very self-conscious and afraid of the judgment or hate that came with sharing my stories. (I do understand that my story isn't for everyone, and there's always going to be someone who doesn't like it. Unfortunately, it's just something all writers will eventually have to deal with!)
But then I came across a few quotes that compelled me to share my stories with others. And whether you're a reader, an aspiring writer, or just a passerbyer, I hope these quotes inspire you as much as they inspired me.
"To gain your own voice, you have to forget about having it heard." - Allen Ginsberg
"The worst thing you write is better than the best thing you did not write." - Unknown
"Almost all good writers start with terrible first efforts. You need to start somewhere." - Anne Lamott
So... here it is—my first effort at writing an actual novel! Honestly, I don't care if this story gets 1, 100, 1,000, or even 10,000 views... because it's just that many more people who read it than if I hadn't shared it with the world. (And really, if I'm to be completely honest, I did this for myself. Because I wanted to. And writing, writing, and rewriting this every day makes me feel really good.)
"Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self." - Cyril Connolly

I started writing this story in 2011. I uploaded parts of it from 2012-2013, but I couldn't figure out which direction I wanted to take it. I knew the ending, but I couldn't figure out the middle or beginning. I struggled and struggled, and eventually, I gave up.
It is now 2017, and I was browsing through old documents on my computer and found this gem that I never finished.
So, why am I telling you this? Because I want you guys, the readers, to hold me accountable. My goal for 2017 is to finish writing this story... or, at least, to continue writing until I eventually finish it. I'm still not sure how this all works... so I hope you guys will be patient with me!

Disclaimer: All of the characters, names, scenes, events, and places were all created by my imagination for entertainment purposes. Any resemblance to actual events is purely coincidental.
Warning: This story contains scenes that may tug at your heartstrings, make you lose sight of reality, force you to tear your hair out, result in feelings of giddiness, or cry until you have nothing more of yourself to give. It may also take a few cliches and maximize them, but in no way, shape, or form am I trying to offend anyone by doing so. Please read at your own risk. :)
