-27-
The next day, Heather woke up in her undergarments. Then she remembered what had happened. Did I really sleep that long? It wasn't even late when Alejandro and I cuddled. She sat up and heard the shower water running. She took a deep breath.
She felt terrible for lying to Courtney. And her reaction was exactly what she feared. Now all she wanted to do was make things right with her. She doesn't trust me anymore. My best friend doesn't trust me...
A few minutes later, Courtney came out of the shower in her clothes for the day, a towel wrapped around her head. Heather opened her mouth, then shut it. I have no idea what to say. I can't say sorry. That is not going to work.
Courtney hummed to herself as if nothing ever happened, grabbing her shoes. She didn't say a word to Heather before going back into the bathroom to put her makeup on.
Heather realized she needed to shower. She waited for a while, keeping track of the time. She now only had an hour until her first class. She sighed, getting up and knocking on the bathroom door. "Courtney? Um...can I borrow the shower quick? I have to get to school in an hour." When there was no answer, she tried to open the door. Unfortunately, it was locked. "Courtney?"
"I have to be there in an hour too. Hello? Same Damn class? Why don't you just go use your boyfriend's shower?" She retorted.
Heather gasped. "Courtney...look, I don't know what else to say. I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you."
"Then you should've told me the moment you realized you liked him."
She sighed, her eyes watering. "I want us to start over. I want us to be friends again. Please!"
"I'm not friends with liars."
"And I'm working on that!"
"Working on it? All you need to do is tell the truth. It's pretty simple!"
"It's really hard for me."
"Obviously. Now get lost. I'm going to blow dry my hair."
Heather swallowed, backing away from the door. I can't fix this. It's too late. She grabbed some clothes for the day and decided to wait until later to shower.
A very enraged Courtney finished getting ready for the day. I can't believe she has the nerve to talk to me after what she did! Ugh! She grabbed Heather's shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. She opened each one and poured it down the sink. She made sure to leave them there for her to see whenever she got back. She can buy all of that again. She deserves it. There was a part of her that thought it was too far, but that part of her wasn't ready to come out yet. Right now, all she knew was anger and revenge.

Heather was sitting in calculus class, dreadfully awaiting Courtney's arrival. She got there early so she could scroll through her phone. Her face twisted in disgust. Why am I still following Duncan on Instagram? She unfollowed him.
"Hey, girlie!" Sierra sat next to her.
"Hey."
"Is something wrong? Oh, I just know something is! Your face says it all!"
"It's nothing, Sierra."
She frowned, not buying it. But she changed the subject. "Well, anyway, I think now that Gwen and Duncan have been together for a while, Cody is finally getting over her."
She rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. He'll never stop simping."
"He will once he realizes how EVIL that goth is!"
"To be honest, I don't care about Gwen and Duncan. Or Cody."
"Well, I do! This is important!"
"That's great, now can we please talk about something else?"
"Tell me what's wrong with you then."
"Ok, fine." Anything to shut her up about Cody. "Courtney's really mad at me. She wouldn't even let me take a damn shower this morning, so now I feel disgusting!" She pouted, crossing her arms.
Sierra gasped. "Why is Courtney mad at you?!"
"I... I lied to her. A lot."
"About what?"
Heather opened her mouth to answer, but she saw Courtney walk in from the corner of her eye. "I'll tell you later."
Courtney promptly sat down in front of them, her hands folded in her lap. Sierra cringed and leaned towards Heather. "Yeah, I can feel the tension," she whispered.
Heather looked at Courtney, her heart aching. I just wanted to keep one friend. She suddenly felt nauseous. Why the fuck is my morning sickness two hours late?! She got up and rushed out of the classroom.
"Heather?" Sierra raised an eyebrow. "Where is she going?" She asked Courtney.
"Beats me. It's probably morning sickness."
"...Morning sickness?!" She gasped loudly. "Wait, Heather's pregnant?!" Some people near them heard and started talking to each other about it.
Courtney's eyes went wide. She spun around in her chair. "Sierra, Shh! Maybe I shouldn't have told you anything," she groaned.
"Oops..." Sierra covered her mouth. She lowered her voice. "But still, what?!"
"Just forget I said anything, ok?" Courtney cringed. Why did I say anything about morning sickness?!
"How can I forget?! This is huge! Who's the father?!"
"Sierra, I'm not giving you any further information!"
"Awe," she pouted. "I promise I'll be quiet about it!"
Courtney turned back around, ignoring her. Heather came back a few minutes later, awkwardly looking down. She noticed that some people were staring at her. Something wasn't sitting right.
As she passed by Courtney, she noticed she looked guilty. And so did Sierra. She sat down. "What's going on?" She whispered to Sierra.
"Well, um..." she laughed nervously.
"Tell me!"
She swallowed. "Heather...I don't think you want to hear it."
"Now that you said that, I do!"
"Ok then..." she whispered in her ear. "Courtney accidentally told me you were pregnant, and now I'm pretty sure the whole class knows."
Heather's face went pale. "W-what?!" She blinked in disbelief. Wow, I knew Courtney hated me, but not this much!
"But it was an accident! It just kind of came out!"
"Oh yeah, I'm sure," she rolled her eyes. "How do you accidentally say something?! She's obviously trying to get back at me." Heather got out of her seat. "Wow, you really got me this time. Are you proud of yourself?!"
"What?!"
"Sierra just told me what you did!"
Courtney glared at Sierra. "Heather, it literally just came out! I didn't have any bad intentions!"
"Yeah, right!"
She scoffed. "I can't believe you think I would do something that low! Even though what you did was pretty bad."
"And I apologized a million times!"
"It doesn't change that you did it!"
"I know!" Heather frowned, her lips quivering. No way I'm going to cry in front of all these people. She grabbed her things and left the room, tears blurring her vision. Great. Soon the news is going to get to Gwen and LeShawna. Who knows what they'll come up with to torment me? The scary part was, Heather had nothing to torment them back with.
Courtney wanted to follow her, but she was still so mad that Heather would accuse her of something like that.
Heather went to her car and called Alejandro as she started driving back to the sorority at the next block. "Hola, chica," he answered.
"What are you doing right now?"
"Just getting out of class. Why? Is everything alright?"
She took a deep breath and let it out. "Courtney told Sierra that I'm pregnant, and now my whole class knows. I'm pretty sure this was a sick revenge plan of Courtney's."
"Oh no, Heather...really? You think Courtney is capable of something like that?"
"Maybe! She's so angry at me!"
"I will fight whatever bad rumors come your way."
She turned into the parking garage. "Thank you."
"There is no need to thank me, Hermosa. I will always be on your side."
Heather smiled, stepped out of her car, and locked it. "Do you want to go out later?"
"Is that even a question? Of course!"
"Ok, just let me shower and get ready!"
"I need to do that as well!"
"We'll both be looking our best." She walked into the sorority.
"I cannot wait to see you, mi reina."
"You too." They both hung up.
Heather walked into the bathroom with her pajamas and all, ready to shower when she suddenly saw all her shower supplies beside the sink. Her shampoo, body wash, and conditioner were poured down the sink. She gasped. "Oh my god...what the FUCK?!"
She called Courtney at least five times, but of course, got no answer. She growled in anger. How could she do this?!! This is too far!!
Heather called Alejandro back, furious. "Back so soon?" He teased.
"Courtney split all my shampoo and conditioner in the SINK!"
He gasped. "...Qué?! Really?!"
"Yes! She's crazy!"
"She's very angry right now, and anger is shown in... various forms."
"Well, then Courtney's form of anger is very concerning! I may not live to see another day!"
"Relax, Heath," he chuckled. "You can take a shower in my dorm. I have some women's products."
"Um...why?"
"Some girl left her shampoo in my shower a few months ago."
"Are you fucking serious? No! I'm not using some whore's shampoo bottle!"
"I was just trying to help! You don't want to have to buy new stuff right now, do you?"
"...Ugh, you do have a point. I'll be over in a few." Heather hung up, muttering to herself about other girls. She grabbed a bag of fresh clothes before leaving.
When she got to the fraternity, she walked past all the guys without a word. She saw Duncan playing cards against humanity with Geoff and scoffed loudly. Duncan raised an eyebrow, looking her way. "Hey Heather, is it true you got knocked up?"
She clenched her jaw. How did it spread this fast?! "That is none of your business, idiot boy."
"I wonder who the father is," Geoff commented.
"Well, it has to be one of us frat boys. I see her just walk in here all the time," said Duncan.
She rolled her eyes. "Maybe I just need to talk to someone. Ever think of that?"
"Ha, and risk getting caught by a supervisor? Yeah, right."
"Could you do the world a favor and shut up?"
"I'd love to, but this is way too good," he snickered.
"God, you're so immature. No wonder Gwen likes you." Heather kept walking, sticking up her nose. Now I just have to hope Duncan stays out of his room until I'm done with my shower.
She knocked on the door, and Alejandro opened it, his face immediately lighting up. "Mi Amor! I got the shower warmed up for you."
"Just me?" She blushed. "I thought you'd want to join."
He smirked. "Oh? I'd be more than happy to."
Heather giggled, sliding out of her clothes. Alejandro did the same before they both stepped into the shower. He kissed her softly, keeping her lower lip between his teeth.
"Mmm...I'm not really in the mood for sex. My back has been killing me all day," she moaned.
"Who said I was in the mood for it?"
She rolled her eyes. "Oh please, you're always in the mood. Every guy your age is."
"Maybe," he chuckled. "Want me to help you wash up since you're sore, mi reina?"
"Not with that soap that other girl used." She saw the bottles and scoffed. "They look like they didn't even cost $5!"
"You know, you are very attractive when jealous. If you think I helped her wash up, you are wrong. We took separate showers."
She pursed her lips. "Well...fine. But only because I need to get clean! Next time, I'm buying my own stuff!"
"Or I'll buy it for you. I know the finest bath works places."
"I mean...pfft, I don't care if you buy anything for me." Heather's heart pounded with love and joy as her face went red.
"It must be exhausting denying that much." Alejandro moved behind her and began to rub the shampoo into her hair.
"Ugh, fine! I want you to go to the stupid store and buy me stupid shampoo and body wash!"
"And lotion? Perfume?"
"You get off on pretending to be a good boyfriend, don't you?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Pretending?"
"Yeah, you're always going over the top so you can beat every other guy."
Alejandro dunked her head under the showerhead, laughing. "Noooooo!" Heather quickly stepped out. "You weren't even done washing, jerk!" She rubbed her eyes
"I only go over the top because you deserve to be treated like a queen. I wouldn't be like this with any other woman."
"That is definitely something a fuckboy would say."
"My mother raised me to be a gentleman. You'll understand once you meet her."
"Alejandro, I wanna wash your hair too."
"Ok," he smiled, switching places with her. Heather wasted no time pushing him under the water. Alejandro knew she would do that, so he had already concocted a plan himself. He opened his mouth and started coughing violently. "I-I can't..." Cough! "Breathe!" Cough!
"Then close your damn mouth next time!"
He kept coughing after moving away, wheezing. Heather began to feel concerned. "...Alejandro?" He kept coughing uncontrollably. "Um...do I need to call 911?" She lifted her leg to step out, visibly shaking.
Alejandro grabbed her arm. "Heather! It's fine! I'm fine!" He burst out laughing.
Her face fell. "Wait, were you FAKING it?!"
"Mostly. Although some water got in my mouth."
"What the fuck?!! That isn't funny!!"
"That's what you get for doing it back to me!"
She crossed her arms. He nuzzled her neck, making puppy dog eyes. "I'm sorry, sweetie. I promise I won't do it again."
"Uh-huh."
"Heatherrrrr," he whined.
She rolled her eyes and leaned against him. "I guess I'll forgive you. This time."
"I'm so grateful! Mi Amor forgave me!" He chanted.
"You're a jerk."
"You are only adding fuel to the fire when you say things like that."
"I know," she smirked. "You can't resist me."
"Right you are. That's why you get the honor of showering with me."
"Um, I think it's the other way around."
"It goes both ways."
"No, I'm not simping over you."
"Of course, you aren't. You already did enough of that before we got together."
Heather held in laughter. "You really need to stop."
"Stop what, Hermosa?"
"Stop being such a dork."
"If we weren't in the shower right now, I'd tickle you."
"If you tickle me, you're dead."
"Wanna bet?"
"Yeah, loser!" Heather turned off the shower and got out, wrapping a towel around her body. Alejandro followed her, gently tackling her onto the bed. He immediately started tickling her ribs and stomach.
"Ahhh! Jerk! Y-You didn't even give me a chance!" She said through laughter, squirming.
"You don't deserve a chance!" He snickered.
"Alejandro!! Stop it!!"
"You're cute when you laugh." He slowly stopped tickling her, gently running his hands down her sides.
"According to you...I'm cute when I do anything," she caught her breath.
"Yep. And beautiful. And sexy." He kissed her nose.
Heather smiled, tracing circles on his chest with her fingers. "I love you."
"Te amo, mi Vida."
She sighed. "We should probably get dressed before Duncan comes back up here. He's already mocking me for being pregnant. I don't want him to find out you're the father yet."
"He is mocking you? For creating human life? What a fool."
"That's Duncan for you."
"Ugh, I cannot stand him."
"I'm glad he and Courtney broke up. He doesn't deserve her."
"Speaking of pregnancy..." Heather looked at her slightly bloated stomach through her towel. "I already look so much bigger. And I still have seven more months to go!"
"You look as beautiful as ever. There is life growing inside you. That is incredible."
"It's so weird to think about."
"I know. In less than a year, this small bump will be a fully formed baby." Alejandro couldn't help but look admiringly at her stomach.
She furrowed her eyebrows. Does he want the baby? She wanted to ask him but was too nervous to. She was afraid he'd say yes. Then she'd feel awful for him for wanting adoption. You're overthinking this, Heather. He said he's fine with any outcome.
