~~~Tyler's POV~~~
By the end of the week, my stitches were ready to come out. Bo, being the stubborn guy he is, refused to let me go to school, and unfortunately, Stark had backed him up on that. However, when Bo tried to stay home with me, Stark had been adamant against that, so I spent four long days sitting by myself in the living room, watching movie after movie.
I hated the idea of getting really behind in school, but luckily Bo brought home the work I missed every day. Then, he and I would spend a couple hours in my room, working on all the homework. It was fun, but chemistry didn't allow much "bonding", and by the time we would finish with the schoolwork, I'd end up falling asleep.
Unfortunately, no school also meant no date, but tonight I got the stitches taken out of my back, and Bo promised tonight would be the night.
Having the stitches taken out didn't hurt; it just felt weird. I felt Fletcher's mom, who I learned to be named Trina, pulling the plastic thread out of the cuts. She told me I still had to be a bit more careful for the next 48 hours until the cuts were fully healed. That didn't mean I wasn't running around the pack house, slightly freaking out about my date tonight.
If you don't remember, I spent my prime teenage years locked in a cellar being tortured; I have no experience with dating.
So now here I was, my hair and body wrapped in a towel, standing in front of my dresser trying to figure out what to wear. I had no idea what to wear; casual, fancy, semi-fancy? I'd been staring at the same open drawer of T-shirts for a while, when all of a sudden, someone burst through my door. I whipped around to see Fae and Dot standing there, giant grins on their faces and a bundle of clothes in their arms.
"We have the perfect outfit!" exclaimed Fae, and Dot squealed in excitement. For one so tough during training, Fae could actually be pretty girly. On more than one occasion, Dot and I had served as her human Barbies.
"Do you guys know where he's taking me?" I asked. Bo had given me no hint, and it was kind of driving me insane. The girls exchanged a knowing look, and I groaned. "You're not going to tell me, are you?" I asked grumpily.
"Nope," replied Dot, and she dumped the clothes on my bed. "Fae and I are just here to make you look dazzling!" She grabbed my shoulders and steered me over to my desk chair, where she pushed me roughly down. "Now don't move."
After an hour later, my butt was completely numb, but the girls were done with my makeup and hair, which of course they hadn't let me see. Fae smiled at Dot and said to me, "Time to get dressed."
Finally I got to see the outfit Dot had so lovingly been arranging on my bed, and now maybe I would have some idea as to where he was taking me. I walked over to the bed and the corners of my mouth curved up into a smile; the outfit was indeed perfect. They'd laid out a white long-sleeve dress with bell sleeves and a thin woven leather belt that would be wrapped loosely around my waist. To finish off the outfit, there was a pair of dark brown suede boots, with no heel thank god.
I made Fae and Dot turn around so they couldn't see me, and I quickly changed into the dress and shoes, being extra careful not to mess up my hair or makeup. "Alright, you can turn back around." Fae and Dot obliged, and then they simultaneously gasped.
"You look..." Dot's voice trailed off, and I frowned at her.
"I look how?" I asked, but they both just shook their heads. I panicked and pushed past them into the bathroom across the hall. I peered into the full length mirror on the wall and gasped. Dot used a curling iron and styled my hair to glossy perfection while Fae had painted my lips a light pink and my eyelids an earthy green. The dress clung to my body in all the right places, showing me a figure I never knew I had.
"Gorgeous."
"Huh?" I asked, turning to see Dot and Fae staring at me from my room.
"You look gorgeous, Tyler," said Dot with a smile, "You really do." I smiled back, feeling the blood rushing to my cheeks, but before I could thank her, Fae's phone rang and she clicked a button before putting it to her ear. I could hear the sound of someone on the other end, but I couldn't make out their words.
Fae snapped the phone shut and smiled at me. "Your mate awaits."
"You're server will be right with you," said the overly perky hostess, and she took one long look at Bo before walking away. I watched her go, and I could help but scowl at her and the way her bleach blonde hair swung stiffly as she pranced. Bo said something, and I turned back around to face him.
"What?" I asked, blushing at my lack of focus.
Bo coughed, and I noticed he looked embarrassed. "I said you look really pretty tonight."
"Oh," I replied, smiling like a dork. "Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself." That was a complete understatement. Bo had on a pair of dark jeans, a maroon v-neck, and a black suit jacket. His chocolate brown hair was as unruly as ever, which honestly made the whole look even sexier. We ordered our drinks and food from a different waitress, this one leering at him more than the last one, but didn't look at her. Not once.
"You know," I said, resting my hands in my lap, "We've hung out a lot, but we don't really know much about each other."
"True." Bo's crooked smile made my heart beat faster. "Alright, how about you tell me your favorite color and I'll tell you mine."
"Seriously?" I asked. Bo nodded and I chuckled. "My favorite color is green, like a pale green."
"Red," Bo informed me.
"My turn to ask a question," I said. Bo looked at me expectantly, and I thought for a moment. Before I could stop myself, I blurted, "What happened to your mom?" My jaw dropped at the stupid question that came out of my mouth, and Bo just looked shock. "I'm really sorry; you don't have to answer that."
"No," said Bo, running his hand through his hair. "It's okay. The whole pack knows, and since you're part of the pack and my mate, you deserve to know." He took a deep breath before continuing with his story.
"When I was eight, my mom was out on a run with my dad in the woods. They were caught by hunters and my mom was shot in the stomach with a silver bullet. By the time my dad carried her home, she was dead. He spent a lot of time afterwards in his room, leaving most of the Alpha jobs to Anton. The few months after my mom died, my dad was really depressed, and Dot and I didn't really understand what was going on; which was hard. Please don't cry, Ty."
"What?" Then I felt the wetness on my cheeks, and I touched my hand to the damp skin. Sure enough, I was crying and I hadn't even realized it. "I'm sorry," I whispered. I felt guilty for crying; it wasn't my mom who died, it was his.
"Don't be sorry, Ty." His dark, intense eyes connected with mine, and the intensity was smoldering. I wiped my eyes and smiled at him, but I still had that sad feeling in the pit of my stomach. "Alright, so my turn to ask a question. What about your parents?" He asked the question like he didn't know if I'd answer, but since he'd answered my question I felt obliged to answer his.
"They were completely slaughtered by hunters when I was captured," I said with little emotion. In the three years I'd spent lying in a cellar, I'd managed to come to terms with my dead parents. It was like one of my many scars; they hurt a lot for a while, and then they healed.
Bo didn't look at me with pity; he looked at me with understanding. We'd both lost at least one of our parents to hunters.
Thankfully, our waitress came back and placed our food down in front of us. The mood changed to a lighter one full of laughing hysterically, and Bo managed to make me almost choke on my pasta. To get back at him, I made him snort soda out of his nose, which according to him, stings really bad.
After dinner, Bo took me for a walk in a park across the street from the bistro where we ate dinner. Immediately, the wind picked up, and I started shivering. "Are you cold?" Bo asked, and just as I opened my mouth to answer, he ripped off his shirt jacket and draped it over my arms.
"You're going to freeze!" I cried, while sneaking a peak at his muscular arms. He shrugged and kept walking.
"I'll be fine." We continued on the path in a comfortable silence. I found myself enjoying the scenery in the park. There were fairy lights hanging in the trees along the path, lighting the night sky, and I could make out the glittering stars. I just had to smile.
I felt Bo's hand connect with mine, and I laced my fingers through his, enjoying the sparks that erupted from our touch. It felt right, being here with him. Giving him a chance was probably the best decision I ever made, which was funny because it stemmed from my terrible idea of going to see Jerod.
"I had fun tonight," I said quietly, and I glanced up at Bo to see he was smiling at me.
"Me too. I guess I owe Dot big time," he replied, and I shot him a confusing look. "She convinced you to give me a chance."
"I would've come around," I said, nudged him playfully with my shoulder. "But, yeah, you totally owe her." We laughed and suddenly Bo stopped walking and spun me around so he was facing me.
"May I have this dance?" he asked, holding out his hand.
"That was random," I said.
"I'm being romantic!" he declared.
"There's no music!"
"I'll hum." Bo arched his eyebrows at me, and I rolled my eyes. I slipped my hands into his, and he pulled me into his chest. I shivered as his hand traced down my spine to rest on the small of my back. I placed my hand on his shoulder, and just as he promised, Bo started to hum a slow tune.
We waltzed across the path, Bo's humming making me laugh and blush, and I tried my hardest not to step on his feet. "You're quite the dancer," I noted, trying hard to keep a straight face.
"Why, thank you Miss! I'm glad all those ballet classes paid off!" He winked at me, and I threw my head back and laughed. He seemed to have a goal of keeping me in hysterics all night. "You have a beautiful laugh, Tyler," said Bo lightly and completely seriously.
I was at a loss for words, so a sort of stammering sound was the only thing to come out of my mouth. I could only just stare as Bo dipped me back in his very capable arms and bent down. When out lips met, I swear to god there were fireworks mixed with bells mixed with electricity.
The perfect combination.
