~~~Tyler's POV~~~
"Do you want to hang out tonight?" asked Tess as we walked into the house. She'd started giving me rides to school since I was avoiding Bo, who used to drive me. "We could watch a movie or something. Paranormal Activity is on Netflix."
"Um, I'm not feeling well. I think I'm just going to go to bed after I finish my homework," I replied. I didn't want to hurt her feelings, but I had plans for tonight, which involved me sneaking out of the pack house.
Tess nodded. "Yeah, you do seem a bit off today." We parted ways, her heading to the office down the hall that had a couple computers, and me to my bedroom. I dropped my backpack on my bed and shut the door.
I figured as soon as it turned dark enough, I would sneak out the back door and run to my old house in my wolf form, since I couldn't drive. It wouldn't take as long as driving, actually; probably just an hour to an hour and a half. So, to kill time, I sat down on my bed and dug into my homework, which I had a lot of.
After finishing my last worksheet, which was a math page I'm sure I got completely wrong, I looked up at the alarm clock next to my bed. It told me that it was a little before five forty-five. The pack usually ate dinner around six thirty, so I knew if I wanted to leave, I had to go now.
I grabbed a small, empty drawstring backpack and started to walk out of my room. However, when I glanced at my desk, I hesitated. If something went wrong, I didn't want a repeat of what happened in the woods. I walked quickly over to the desk, grabbed a post-it note and a pen and wrote:
Going back home again. Running in wolf form. Going to get answers.
Then, I hurried out of the room. I stepped silently down the stairs and made my way out the back door, like last time. I ran over to the woods and kept running until I knew I was safely hidden. Then I stripped out of my clothes and put them in the drawstring bag. Then I shifted and took the bag up into my mouth.
I gathered my bearings, and focused. A minute later, I started running in the direction my instincts told me to. The hour of running passed in what seemed like five minutes, and pretty soon, I was back at my house. Before shifting back into my human form, I spit out the drawstring backpack and studied the house.
The living room was dimly lit, and I perked my ears up, listening for any movement. Instead, I heard three distinctly different heartbeats, and all were werewolves. Against my instincts, I shifted and pulled on the clothes from the drawstring.
I took a deep breath and then started walking out of the woods towards the back door of the house. I'd just reached the ripped screen door when it flew open, and my eyes widened. "Hey, Princess," said Jerod. "You actually came."
"Yep," I replied, trying hard not to sound as freaked out as I felt. "I did."
"By all means, come inside!" He moved to the side and motioned for me to enter the house, which I did hesitantly. I stepped into the living room and froze; there were two, big looking men sitting on the couch, staring at me with their mouths fixed in smirks. I felt an arm wrap its way around my shoulder, and I jumped and looked up to see Jerod.
He pointed to the men, who were similar looking in the fact that they had close cut brown hair and dark, small eyes. "That's Brian and Craig."
"They're rogues, too?" I asked dumbly. Jerod nodded and walked over to the couch to sit down. Since his arm was still wrapped around me uncomfortably, I was forced to follow. Brian and Craig stood up from the couch, and Jerod pushed me down roughly.
"Did you come here alone?" asked Craig.
"Yeah," I replied, now wishing I hadn't. I thought I heard him whisper something like "stupid girl", but I couldn't be sure. Jerod glared at him and then smiled down at me.
"I told you I would give you answers to your questions. So, ask away."
Instantly, an image of Bo came to my mind. Even though we weren't talking, I always felt the draw towards him. I'd asked Tess once, if a mate bond could be severed, and she just looked appalled at my question, so I knew the answer was no. "Can a rogue have a mate?" I asked.
"Well," replied Jerod thoughtfully, "All werewolves have mates. But, rogues usually don't go looking for them. One of the perks of being a rogue is not being responsible for anyone else."
"Oh." I looked down at my hands.
"Do you have a mate?" My head snapped up, and I looked at Brian. My expression must have said it all because he started laughing. "I bet a girl as pretty as you is the alpha's mate!" He said, and he
elbowed Craig, who started cackling as well.
Jerod, however, seemed to be studying me closely, and I realized my face gave it away. "I think you're right, Brian."
"What?"
"I think she is the alpha's mate."
My eyes widened, and I changed the subject quickly. "What about my parents? You said you give me information about them."
"I lied," Jerod said bluntly. "Now tell us about your mate. Does he know you're here?"
"What?" I asked.
"Did you contact him through the mate link?" Jerod asked, and I noticed he seemed to look panicked.
"What's a mate link?" I asked suspiciously.
"It's the link between mates where you can communicate telepathically and-"
"Shut up!" roared Jerod, silencing Brian. "You idiot! Why did you tell her that?" He started going off on
Brian, telling him how stupid he was. I was starting to feel unsafe, and I cursed myself for being so stupid. Anton had told me that rogues were untrustworthy, and I should've listened to him.
While Jerod was distracted, I slid to the opposite end of the couch and got up. I backed up towards the back door, but my body impacted with something solid, and I looked up to see Craig towering over me with his arms crossed.
"I really need to get going," I said nervously, my voice louder than I expected. "I've got school tomorrow and..." my voice trailed off as Jerod ran his hand through his hair and turned to look at me.
"I'm sorry but we can't let you leave."
"What?"
"The opportunity to kill an Alpha's mate is too rare to pass up," Jerod said with a shrug. "Don't be personally offended, Princess. You just seem to have rotten luck."
"I thought you didn't care about Alphas," I said hastily, and I inconspicuously looked about the room for a different way out, but I couldn't find one. I was trapped.
"I don't," replied Jerod simply, "But when a werewolf loses a mate, it leaves them completely broken. When you do that to an Alpha, it affects the whole pack. They're weaker, leaving their territory open to claim." Jerod took a step towards me. "And, I do care about territory."
Jerod took another menacing step towards me, and, thinking fast, I kicked him as hard as I could in the chest. He stumbled back, and I felt Craig grab me around the middle. I cried out and thrashed my legs until they came in contact with his groin. He grunted and let go of me, and I looked around wildly.
Seeing the stairs, I thought quickly and started to run towards them. I made it around the couch when Brian grabbed me. On reflex, I brought my elbow back into the side of his head, and he howled and let go. I sprinted up the staircase and disappeared into the first room I saw, which ended up being mine, and I slammed my back against the door.
The paint was peeling, but other than that, it looked virtually the same, which freaked me out. I reached down and locked the door, knowing that it wouldn't hold against any of the three men downstairs if they really wanted to get in.
"C'mon Tyler!" called Jerod. "Let's not do this the hard way, please."
Use that mate link thing! screamed my wolf.
"I don't know how," I moaned, and I slid down the back of the door and pulled my knees up to my chest.
Try!
"Bo," I whispered, focusing hard. "Bo, I don't know if I'm even doing this right, but come find me. Please, come find me before its too late."
~~~Bo's POV~~~
"Bo."
I looked up from my plate of food and looked towards the doorway of the dining room, where I saw Dot standing. She had something in her hands and her face was pale.
"I need to show you something," her voice was serious, "now." I glanced at Fae, who was deep in conversation with Rhett, and at Fletcher, who was shoveling spaghetti down his throat as if it would disappear at any moment.
"What's this?" I asked without looking at it.
"Just read it," she ordered, and I noticed that she looked a bit worried. I read the note, scrawled in terrible chicken-scratch handwriting, and my eyes widened.
"You found this in Tyler's room?"
"Yeah," replied Dot shakily. "I'd asked Tess where Tyler was because she didn't come down for dinner like normal, and Tess said she wasn't feeling well and that she'd gone to bed. So, I went up to ask her if she wanted soup or something, and she wasn't there. I found this note on her desk, and then I came down to you."
"Thanks Dot," I said genuinely.
"Who would she be getting answer from, Bo?" she asked. I shrugged and opened my mouth to answer, but suddenly, Tyler's voice was in my head.
"Bo. Bo, I don't know if I'm even doing this right, but come find me. Please, come find me before its too late." I could feel the panic and fear in her voice, and I knew she was in danger. I turned away from Dot and ran back into the dining room. Fae took one look at me and elbowed Fletcher and Rhett, and they both turned to look at me, too.
I motioned for them to follow me, and then I turned and walked quickly down the hall. I found an empty living room and a few seconds later, everyone, including Dot, filed in.
"Tyler's in trouble," I stated grimly.
"How do you know?" asked Fae, her eyes wide in concern.
"Because she contacted me through the mate link," I said.
"Dude, you're-"
"Mates with Tyler, yeah," I said, finishing Fletcher's sentence. "And if we don't go and find her, I have a feeling something bad is going to happen."
And by that, said my wolf sadly, she will die.
"We're with you," said Fae, taking a step towards me. Rhett and Fletcher mimicked her, and I smiled. We ran out of the room and out the back door, ignoring the stares from the various pack members we passed. When we got outside, I noticed Dot had followed us.
"You can't come," I said, using my alpha voice, and I put a hand on her shoulder.
Dot looked like she wanted to protest, but she nodded in submission. "Bring her back safe, okay?" I nodded, and she turned and hurried back into the pack house. I heard a howl and saw that Fae, Rhett, and Fletcher had shifted. I followed suit, and we all sprinted into the woods.
Almost immediately, I picked up Tyler's scent trail, which meant she hadn't left that long ago. I barked to Fae, who immediately understood. Together, we ran through the trees, jumping over logs and tree roots, and followed Tyler's scent.
Suddenly, after about half an hour of running, I felt a terrible pain in my gut. I howled and collapsed to the ground, and I felt myself shift back to my human form. "What the hell was that?" I hissed breathlessly.
"Tyler's hurt." I looked up at Rhett, who had shifted back to human form. "Where you felt the pain is where she got hurt. It's a part of the bond of mates."
"I'm going to kill whoever is doing this to her," I growled through clenched teeth. The pain subsided, and I shifted back to my wolf form. I stood up and shook myself, and then I found the trail and started running again.
I had no idea how long we had been running after that, but the scent trail got stronger as we reached an edge to the woods. Every so often, I felt an immense pain, but I just gritted my teeth and kept my legs pumping. As the trees thinned out, I noticed something bright orange among the bushes. I crept closer to find a drawstring backpack, and I didn't even need to sniff it to know it was Tyler's.
I growled and swung my head towards a house near the edge of the woods. I could sense Tyler in there, and if it was her heartbeat I was feeling, it was faint. We were creeping silently towards the house, when suddenly, the back door flew open and a man came flying out. A second later, he shifted into a dark brown wolf and snarled at us.
Rhett growled back, and the dark brown wolf charged at him. Rhett didn't hesitate, and the two wolves became locked in combat. Another brown wolf, this one lighter, came bounding out of the house, and Fletcher howled and plunged into battle.
Fae and I sprinted into the house, and the metallic scent hit me like a bus; blood. Not just any blood, but Tyler's blood. I bolted into the next room, and growled at the sight. There was a wolf with white fur stained with red, and he was standing over a body; Tyler's body.
I snarled at him, and the wolf whipped around. He seemed to be smirking at me, and I snapped. Only seeing red, I lunged at him with such force and intensity, I seemed to catch him off guard. I pushed him of Tyler's body and sent him skittering into the hallway.
He hurt our mate, hissed my wolf.
I jumped on him, and he tried to shake me off.
He deserves to die! howled my wolf.
The wolf swiped at me, and I growled as his sharp claws dug into my flesh. I snapped at him and bit
down on his shoulder as hard as I could. The wolf whined, and I stuck him hard against the face with my paw. Blood gushed from the numerous cuts on his face, the dark liquid looking almost black against his stark white fur.
I raked my claws against his belly, and he made a sort of squeaking sound. Then, the wolf shifted back into his human form. Apparently, the pain was too much. I curled my lip up over my fangs and growled at him, but the man just laughed.
"She's going to die, you know," he croaked, and his smiled was bloody. "She's going to die and leave you all alone."
Kill him! ordered my wolf.
I clamped down firmly on his neck, and he struggled for a moment before growing limp. I waited until I felt his pulse diminish, and then I unlatched my jaw and spat the blood I had gotten in my mouth back onto his limp body. I stared at his body while I stood, shaking with fury.
"Bo!"
Fae's voice brought me back to reality, and I shifted back to my human form.
"Come quick!"
A second later, I was kneeling next to Tyler's body. "The cuts on her back are pretty deep," Fae told me, "She's lost a lot of blood, even for a werewolf. Her pulse is really faint." Fae had rolled Tyler on her side, and sure enough, there were four long rips in her shirt. Beneath that, I could see four nasty looking cuts that were still oozing blood.
"Tyler." I called, panicking. "Tyler, please baby, answer me!"
Her eyes fluttered open, and she made a moaning noise. "Bo." her voice was weak and barely there.
"I'm right here, Ty." I said, and I moved so that her head was resting in my lap.
"I'm sorry," she croaked.
"Why are you sorry?" I asked, surprised.
"I was really stupid," Tyler whispered. "I didn't listen, and now I'm going to die."
"No!" I cried. "No, I refuse to let you die, okay? You just need to hang on, alright?" She nodded meekly, and her dazed eyes closed once again. Frantically, I looked up to Fae. "Where are Rhett and Fletcher?"
"I don't know, but I'll go check." She went to get up, but Rhett appeared in the doorway to the room we were in.
"The other wolves are dead," he reported, and then he held up some car keys. "I found these on the kitchen table."
"Go start the car, then!" ordered Fae. Rhett walked past us, followed by a slightly bloody Fletcher, and I noticed his eyes widen at Tyler's body. When they disappeared, Fae turned to me. "We're going to need to drive home. I know it's fast if you carrier her, but if I'm in my human form, I can try and stop the bleeding."
I nodded, and Fae helped me pick up Tyler's scarily limp body. We carried her gingerly out the front door and loaded her into the back seat of black SUV. Rhett and Fletcher were sitting in the front seat, whereas Fae and I sat in the back with Tyler.
"Drive!" I growled, and Rhett stepped on the gas pedal. Fae searched around in the car, and he found a small duffel bag with clothes in it. She pulled out a t-shirt and ripped it into one wide strip, and then she wrapped it around Tyler's middle. As Fae put pressure on the wounds, I shook Tyler lightly until her eyes opened.
"It doesn't hurt," she whispered. "I just feel tired."
"Don't go to sleep!" I commanded softly. "You aren't allowed to fall asleep." She groaned, but I could tell she was trying her hardest to keep her eyes open. The problem was that along with the large amount of blood she'd lost, Tyler had lost more energy to fight.
"Drive faster!" I hissed to Rhett, and I felt us speed up. A drive that should've taken us two hours to complete ended up taking us an hour and a half, and it was a miracle a cop didn't stop us. If Tyler wasn't a werewolf, she would be dead by now.
I jumped out of the SUV and Fae helped me pull Tyler carefully out of the car. As I walked up to the front of the house, Dot burst through the door, followed closely by my dad and Anton. Before they could say something, I said "Get one the pack healers! She needs help now!" Dot turned and ran back inside.
My dad held the door open for me, and I walked quickly inside. I hurried down the hallways until I came to one of the rooms reserved for medical checkups. There was already a healer, who I recognized to be Fletcher's mom, Trina, preparing a bag of some kind of IV fluid.
"Lay her on her back right there," ordered Trina, pointing to the bed. I cautiously placed her and then stepped back as Trina checked out the wounds.
"Will she be okay?" I asked nervously.
"I don't know, Bo. She's lost a lot of blood," answered Trina with a grim look on her face. "The chances are slim."
Her words struck something within me, and I completely lost it. "You have to make her better!" I roared. "I promised her I wouldn't let her die!" I felt someone grab me and pull me out of the room, and I was slammed against the wall.
"You need to calm down, man!" commanded Rhett. "You're not helping her by falling apart."
I slid down the wall and started sobbing, my breath coming out strangled. "She can't die," I choked out. "She can't."

Hot damn, that was long. I was going to cut it off at the change of POV's, but my philosophy is that if i wrote it and it's done, then I will post it, so i posted the whole entire thing.
Don't expect that for next chapter.
The song on the side has really nothing to do with the chapter, but i love the band. I have unoffically dubbed them the Australian version of Paramore, one of my fave bands.
