Lucille - Tales of a Middle Schooler... and chocolate.
I decided to change it up a bit! This entire chapter is Lucille's point of view, instead of Marianne's!
I skipped down the path towards the house I called home, the house I had lived in my entire life. I took out the house key, unlocking the door quickly before stepping inside. What was a fourteen year old girl doing with a key to the house, and in her home all alone?
My mother works late nights at the hospital so I get dropped off by the bus and I have a key to the house, so I don't have to wait for her to get home. I heard a creak and I instantly grabbed the magazine on the coffee table, holding it up as a weapon.
"Fear me, I have a weapon!" I yelled out to whatever it was that had made the noise. Of course, when I saw who exactly had made the noise, the so called weapon was useless against my uncle Epps. Especially when he turned and laughed at me.
"A magazine, really Little A? Didn't your mother tell you to grab something else other than a magazine, preferably something that is a lot harder and can actually injure someone?" he asks, amusement flickering in his eyes as he chuckled.
I scowled and threw the magazine at the man who was stuffing food in his face, which he easily dodged and just starting laughing more. "Oh sure, laugh it up uncle Epps. Didn't your mother ever tell you it's rude to break into people's houses?" I muttered, walking over to the fridge and opening it.
Uncle Epps snorted with laughter, grinning over at me. "It's not breaking in when you have a key, little A. Besides, I'm babysitting you until your mother gets home from work." he says, interrupted by a groan escaping me. "Well fine then, I guess I won't be sharing my chocolate with you then."
My head instantly snapped over to my uncle, my eyes widening as I quickly shut the fridge and ran over to him. I jumped on him and hugged him tightly, mumbling 'I love you' under my breath more times than I could count making him chuckle as he hugged me back.
He picked me up and sat me down on the counter, something both my uncles and my grandpa Ratchet did whenever they were getting me something, I was in trouble, or just because they wanted to. I watched as he reached in his duffel bag and took out a bag of Hershey's kisses.
I squealed like as school girl, even though I was one, and reached out to grab the bag but he immediately made sure the bag of delicious chocolate kisses was out of my reach. "Uh uh, little A. You have to say please." he says, smirking at the glare I sent back at him.
I crossed my arms over my chest, sticking my lower lip out as 'crocodile tears' came to my eyes. My uncle was having an inner war inside his mind, before he sighed and held out the bag of Hershey's kisses to me. I grinned and grabbed them. "Thank you uncle Epps!"
My uncle just glared halfheartedly at me, sitting himself on the counter beside me and taken one of the chocolate kisses from me. "You are just like your mother little A, I swear." he mutters, unwrapping the kiss and sticking it in his mouth.
I just giggled in return, devouring the kisses along with my uncle. He was tied with my uncle Will for who was my favorite uncle, but in the end I could never pick one over the other. I loved them too much, and they loved me in return. Especially grandpa Ratchet.
*3 hours later*
I was laying on the couch, groaning from the pain I felt. I knew I should not have eaten so much chocolate, but it was too good to resist! My uncle was laying on the other couch, doing the exact thing and regretting the decision we both made as well.
"My mom is going to kill us uncle Epps, so I suggest you hightail it out of here before she comes home." I muttered, burying my head in the couch and muttering curses quietly under my breath from the pain in my stomach. "Never again, will I eat that much chocolate..."
I heard the door open and my mother walk in, making me look up and smile slightly at her. I noticed she was carrying something in a box, but I couldn't exactly tell what it was. "Hey mom, what's that?" I asked, not moving from my finally comfy position at all.
My mother just grinned in return, moving into the kitchen and setting the box down. "I got you something Lucy, to celebrate your good grades." She explains, setting her purse down along with her keys.
Instantly I was sitting up and looking over at my mother, an eyebrow arched as I waited for her to explain what exactly she had gotten me. Uncle Epps was sitting up as well, curiosity getting the best of us as we waited.
"I got your favorite cake, chocolate fudge supreme!" My mother said, and both me and my uncle shot off of the couch and ran in opposite directions to empty the chocolate in our stomachs. I went to the upstairs bathroom, my uncle Epps into the kitchen and over to the trashcan.
My mother just stood there, tapping her foot with an irritated look on her face as she sighed. "Epps, we've talked about this. The two of you are limited to only one bag of chocolate, no more than one bag.." she mutters, putting the cake up in the fridge.
