Chapter 7
Grace's PoV
The two vampires were on Sam within a second, throwing him through the front room into a cabinet full of old China which shattered and crashed around him as he landed with a thump, unconscious. I readied my machete, despite the fear that consumed me, and hoped I could at least injure one of them. Both vampires crept up to me slowly, grins showing their sharp fangs and the hunger in their eyes. I swung my machete like a madman, aiming at one and then the other, unable to get a hit on either as they darted around with super speed. Vampires were always difficult to kill but when you were ganged up on, your chances were pretty slim and the outcome was bleak.
"Duck!" Dean shouted, and I dropped to my knees instantly. A gunshot echoed the room as a bullet flew across the room and caught one of the vampires in the neck, causing him to spin round and head towards Dean. I quickly jabbed the other with dead mans blood as I ducked her attack, shoving her away from me. I swung my machete with purpose, taking her head off before she had a chance to attack again. I ran over to Sam and patted him, trying to wake him.
"Come on Sam. Wake up!" I muttered as I shook him, desperate to see any signs of life and movement. "Please." The moment the word left my mouth, I realised just how eerily quiet the house was. Fear rose up my body, knotting my stomach before restricting my chest. I slowly looked up, noticing the vampire standing over Sam and I with an evil grin on his face. "Dean?" I shouted out but once again, the terrifying silence greeted me. With one flick of his arm, the vamp sent me flying across the room, crashing through a window and landing on the grass outside with a thump. A guttural sound left my mouth as I landed, knocking the air from my lungs. I rolled onto all fours, gasping for air as I desperately crawled towards the door, machete dragging under my palm.
"Sam!" Deans voice could be heard from outside with a panicked tone. It caused my stomach to knot once more. Something was wrong. "No! Sammy!" Still unable to breathe properly, I scrambled to my feet and ran back through the front door just in time to see the vampire letting go of Sam after putting his blood into Sam's mouth.
"No..." I breathed out, my eyes meeting Dean's for a second before we ran towards Sam. Dean was trying to remain strong but I could tell he was breaking, knowing his brother had just ingested vampire blood and was soon going to be turning into one. Dean skidded to Sam, eyes watering as he watched Sam furiously rub the blood from around his mouth, desperate to eradicate it. We all knew it was too late. I didn't stop though, I ran past them and towards the front door where I'd seen the vamp run.
"That's it, just leave!" Dean shouted towards me as I left them in the house of bad memories and out into the fresh air. It was breezy, nice and fresh in comparison to the sticky heat we'd felt in the house. My lungs burned as I sucked in a sharp breath, readying myself to find the vampire and give him what he deserved, death. I ran through the park, heading back to where I'd seen them kidnap the book guy days before and to my utter delight, the vampire was there stalking his next victim.
"I think you forgot something, Mona." I smirked as I caught his attention and he spun round to me with an angered snarl. I waved my machete at him, beckoning him to fight me. He ran at me in an instant, launching himself at me in a frenzied attack. He knocked us both to the floor and tried to bring his fresh wound towards me but I knocked him off me and scrambled to my feet once again. "You're going to have to try harder than that, sweetheart." I teased, angering him more. He ran at me again, launching himself again but I was ready. As he was in the air above me, I thrust my machete into his chest and pulled him to the floor, stabbing the blade into the mud. Grabbing an empty needle, I jabbed it into the vampire and took some of his blood before yanking the blade back out and chopping his head off. I wasted no time running back to the house where Sam was sitting up with his legs brought up to his chest and his head on his knees.
"Sammy, I said get up." Dean snapped at Sam. Neither had realised I was back so I kept quiet, waiting to see how this played out.
"No Dean." Sam's voice was depressive and muffled by his legs. "It won't be long til I'm one of them. Just get it over with now." His head lifted towards his brother, showing his dark circles and the sweat beading on his forehead. He looked dazed, confused almost, about his surroundings and their sounds and smells.
"We're going back to the bunker to fix this." Dean ordered but Sam was quick to bite back.
"How, Dean?" He was furious at his brother.
"The same way we did when I was turned. We can cure it." Deans tone had changed instantly, it was now soft and caring - almost pleading. Feeling guilty for listening in, i stepped further into the room and cleared my throat causing both men to look over to me.
"I got the last one." I informed them, offering a small smile. Dean shot me an angered glare as he turned to face me.
"Well what do you want? A gold star? If you haven't noticed, we've got bigger problems than your kill count." He snarled, stomping over to Sam and pulling him to his feet, wrapping his arm around his shoulder to carry him to the car.
"Dean..." Sam mumbled weakly. "Be nice."
"Yeah Dean." I added, winding him up. "Especially when I'm the one holding the blood of the vamp that turned Sam. Yeah. You're welcome."
