Chapter 11

Sam's PoV

I woke up, feeling like I had the hangover of a lifetime, and daren't even move. My head was pounding, my body ached - as did my face, and the memories of the last few hours seemed to be missing. As my eyes opened fully, I noted where I was. The markings on the floor, the iron chains, the table and chairs. I was in the dungeon. I could hear Dean's voice from outside the room, his tone vicious as he spat at Cass, who I could hear answering him. I relaxed for a second, knowing at least that I was home, safe and sound as someone stroked my hair. Wait!
I shot up, spinning round and shooting my hand out to grab that person, ready for a fight but I relaxed as soon as I saw Grace who straightened where she sat.

"Now are you gonna bite me or are you just happy to see me?" She said sarcastically as I let go.

"Sorry, I'm just a little jumpy." I apologised as the words went round in my head. Am I going to bite her? Suddenly, the memories washed over me like a tidal wave, hitting me at once and overloading me. We hit the vamps nest, Dean argued with Grace about the number of vamps and two more came. One turned me. I nearly bit a civilian, then Grace, before she knocked me out. I nearly bit Dean.

"Hey, you okay?" Grace's hand was on my shoulder as she knelt beside me, worry filling her face. I hated myself for allowing that to happen to me. I could have hurt innocent people. We should have listened to Grace from the beginning. Dean had been difficult for a while now but that time nearly cost us all. I needed to have a word with him.

"Yeah, just the memories all fitting together. It was a bit hit and miss." I said honestly. For once it was nice to be able to say what I thought without any repercussions. Dean always wanted to watch out for his 'little brother' so when I told him any of my issues, he tended to leave me out of hunts and plans for fear it would affect me or I'd mess it up. At least Grace would just accept it and carry on. "I'm sorry we didn't believe you. You were right and it ended up making all this mess." Grace just shooed my words.

"It's fine. It's not like you're the first people to think I've got it wrong. Story of my life as a lone female hunter." She shrugged. Outside of the room, I could hear Dean's voice getting louder and louder. I let out a sigh and shook my head.

"Sorry Grace, I'm going to have to sort this out. Deans been on edge for a while now, our plans just keep screwing up and he's getting mad about it. He's taking it out on pretty much anyone who comes into contact with him." I huffed as I stood, offering Grace an apologetic smile as I left the room, heading towards the library. Dean was stood inches from Castiel, shouting at him as he poked him in the chest.

"I needed you and you weren't here. Again, Cass. Then you come back here to tell me some Chinese whispers crap? Come on man!" Cass looked over to me, asking for help to make some space between the two of them.

"Dean!" I shouted, causing him to spin round.

"Sam?" He let out a small smile. "You're alright. I knew the cure would work. You should be resting." Once again the big brother act was on. I folded my arms across my chest.

"Right. How am I supposed to do that when you're barking at Cass like that?" Cass gave me a thankful nod as Dean turned his attention back to me. Dean gave me an insulted look.

"Barking?" He double checked. "Sam, he came back here with information that someone at a gas station MAY have seen kelly days ago. How is that of any use?" I huffed as I rolled my eyes. He was expecting miracles and, even with an angel on our side, I knew we weren't getting any of those.

"It gives us something to look into. Video footage, general direction, maybe a car registration. Come on Dean, you know how it works." I scrunched you my face as I spoke to him, wondering what was causing him so much stress. We were both fighting the same battle but we were acting completely differently. I was trying to keep moving, focussing on other things until information came up but Dean was too focussed and if it wasn't to do with Kelly then he really didn't care.

"I know how it works but we don't have time to waste. She's carrying Lucifer's child and she could give birth at any time. This is not something we can hang about waiting for. We need to find her and we need to kill it." Dean spat, silencing us all where we stood.

"You want to kill a baby?" A female voice suddenly entered the conversation and I could tell Dean wasn't pleased. Cass seemed to shift uncomfortably at the fact she'd overheard the plan.

"Or take away their grace." I added, still not feeling like I could look Grace in the eye after that.

"I've already said, the child will do good. I've seen it. We need to leave them alone." Cass was now speaking in an angered tone. "I just want to protect them from Lucifer."

"Lucifer?" Grace piped up once more. All three of us turned around quickly and gave her unimpressed looks. She really shouldn't be listening into this.

"Who gave you permission to listen into our conversation? There was a reason we took this outside." Dean snapped and I shot him a glare to tell him to stop. His body was tense as he spoke, his fists clenching.

"Since Sam went to sort it out" Grace used air speech marks on the last three words. "And you're all still arguing? Thought maybe you needed an outsiders perspective?" In a way, I admired her braveness. Dean had never let up on her but she was still willing to help even if it meant getting more abuse from him. She let out a small smile as her eyes met mine.

"I think we should give it a go. Maybe she can help." Cass said, nodding at her.

"Really?" Dean, of course, was against the idea. "You think Taylor Swift over here is going to have a great idea to save the world that we haven't thought of?" He threw his arms up in frustration and slapped them on his thighs as they came down.

"I don't see how it could hurt?" I said, questioning why Dean was so against everything that he didn't come up with. Suddenly, the lights began to flicker in the bunker and we all froze in place.

"No way." Grace spoke softly. "Demons?"

"It's possible. Lucifer wants answers." We all grabbed our angel blades and stood ready to fight, but just as the door to the bunker swung open, Grace ran back towards the bedrooms and away from the fight.
