Chapter 5: A Game
My sleep was restless yet somehow I managed to be back in the same goddamn dream. Maybe Rykan would be more agreeable tonight. I could use a distraction. Geeze, I really needed to stop thinking of him as a real person.
As usual, he was there first. I heard a low rumble and turned to find him staring at me with dark eyes. His eyes raked up and down me and I knew this was just the distraction I needed. I was glad I changed to a tank top and underwear to sleep in. His eyes met mine and he clenched and unclenched his fists.
"You weren't there today," he said, walking slowly towards me.
"What are you going to do about it?" I shrugged, crossing my arms.
He stopped, narrowing his eyes and breathing out raggedly. "You'll see when you're home with me."
"Enough with the going home with you thing," I said, rolling my eyes. "Other people's dream men don't do this."
"I'm not," he growled, grabbing my chin, "a dream. Didn't you see the marks?"
"I did," I admitted. "And it's really weird. But there has to be a logical explanation. I must've... Done something to myself in my sleep."
"You did nothing. I did that," he said, dropping his hand to my neck, rubbing over the hickey,
"What is it going to take to make you understand this is real?"
"Dreams aren't real, Rykan," I sighed. "Can you just be a good dream guy and have sex with me already?"
This was pathetic. I was begging my dream man to have sex with me. No one was as fucked up in the head as I was.
"Come to the forest and I will," he said, running his fingers through my hair.
I sighed and turned away from him, wrapping my arms around myself.
"If you really believe this is just a dream, what would going to the forest even hurt?" He asked.
"Go away," I grumbled.
"Kora, look at me," he said, grabbing my hand.
"I said go away," I snapped, pulling my hand back. "I get enough rejection in real life. I don't need it in my dreams too."
"It's not a dr-" he stopped and groaned. "I'm not rejecting you," he said, grabbing my hand more tightly and pulling me to face him. "Just come to the forest then I promise I'll fuck you. Several times."
"There is almost nothing more pathetic than a girl going to a date in a forest because a guy in her dream told her to. You're just not attracted to me. No one is, apparently," I said, throwing my arms up.
"I'm attracted to you," he said, narrowing his eyes.
"Obviously," I scoffed.
He grabbed my hand and pressed it against the front of his shorts. I gasped, feeling his hardness there. He groaned and rubbed my hand against him a couple times before pulling my hand away. "Stop doubting my attraction to you," he snapped. "Why are you so self-conscious?"
"I'm not," I said, suddenly feeling embarrassed.
I turned away and he came up behind me, setting his hands on my hips and dipping his head into my neck. "Talk to me, Kora," he murmured, kissing my neck.
"I'm not going to talk about personal things with a dream," I said, inhaling sharply when his teeth grazed against my skin.
"You've been asking me to fuck you the last two nights but opening up is crossing a line?" He asked, spinning me around to face him.
I shrugged and nodded.
"If it's a dream then why does it matter if you tell me?" He pointed out.
"It just does. There's things I don't want to talk about and dreams are supposed to be nice," I pouted, pulling away from him.
"Kora," he said, catching my hand and pulling me towards him, running his thumb over my knuckles. "What's wrong, baby? Talk to me. How could anyone not want you?"
Shit. That question made me way more emotional than I was ready for. I tried to pull away but he tugged me back, cupping my face and nuzzling my nose.
"What is it?" He asked, wrapping his arms around me. "You're hurting, what's wrong? Did that fucking idiot of a husband make you cry again?"
"I'm so not discussing my real life in a dream where dreams are supposed to be happy," I said, shaking my head.
"Not all dreams are happy," he insisted, pressing his forehead against mine. "Tell me what's wrong, Kora, I want to know everything about you."
This was ridiculous, why did I feel like crying just because he was being nice to me? God, the bar was low if all it took for me to break down was him asking about my well-being. That's how fucking messed up I was from being with Evan.
"Kora, is he the reason you're self-conscious?" Rykan asked, tilting his head to the side.
I sighed and looked away, giving him a small nod. "I'm fine. I'm not that self-conscious. I'm working through it."
"Let me help you work through it, baby," he said, holding me out at arm's length, his eyes darting up and down my body. "You want to know what I see when I look at you?"
No. I was afraid to know because my head was so fucked up it would probably make him just as cruel as Evan.
"I see the most beautiful fucking eyes I've ever seen," he said, cupping my face. "Lips I never want to stop kissing," he murmured, pressing a kiss against my lips. "A face I want to wake up to everyday," he said, nuzzling my nose. "A body that's so fucking incredible you stopped me in my tracks when I saw you," he said, running his hands down over the sides of my breasts, to my waist and down to my hips. "Everything about you is so fucking attractive, Kora. You have no idea what you do to me."
My brain gave up before he finished what he was saying and settled on: you must fuck this man at all costs.
"Um..." I said, a blush reaching my cheeks. "Okay, well..." I said, setting my hands on his hips, running my finger along the hem of his shorts. "I don't accept words, only actions. If I affect you so much, prove it."
"Kora," he whimpered, catching my hands and pulling them away from him. "Stop making this so hard for me."
"Oh, am I making it hard for you?" I smirked, pulling my hands free and reaching for him.
That backfired. Damn, this boy was fast. He grabbed my wrists and held them against my chest, glaring down at me. "You really enjoy pushing my buttons don't yo-" He stopped, his eyes flickering, a sudden air of anger around him. "What is that?" He asked, releasing my hands and taking my arm, running his fingers over the bruise from when I fell. "Did someone hurt you? Did he hurt you?"
"No," I breathed, taking a step back from him. Geeze, he had a temper. "God, why are you so mad, dude?"
"I'm sorry," he frowned, taking a step towards me and running his finger down my arm.
"Kora, does this shithead of a husband hit you?"
"No," I said, rolling my eyes. "You're really overprotective for a dream man, you know that?"
"I'm not a dream but I am protective," he said, narrowing his eyes. "What happened?"
"Nothing," I shrugged. "I just fell when I fainted."
"Fainted?" He asked, frowning. "What's wrong? Are you sick?"
"Uh..." I said, biting my lip. "No," I said, darting my eyes away.
"Kora," he growled. "Are you sick?"
"I'm not sick exactly," I sighed. "I just get sick really easily," I muttered.
His arms wrapped around me and he pulled me against him, pressing his forehead against mine, his beautiful eyes searching mine. "What's wrong, baby?"
"I just have a lot of health issues," I admitted. "I get sick really easily, my heart sometimes decides to not work so well... I just have a lot of issues. I take a lot of medicine."
"You were sick today?" He asked, bringing his hand up to my face. "Did you get checked?"
"No," I said, rolling my eyes. "They're not going to do anything over a simple fainting spell."
His frown deepened. "What kind of health issues are we talking, Kora? I have a healer than can help with a lot of things."
"No one can help me and I don't want to talk about it," I huffed. "Maybe not all dreams are nice but I would like mine to be so..." I waved my hand for him to leave. "Piss off unless you're going to make this dream nice.
"Kora, I'm not a dream," he growled. "I'm real and I-"
"And you are annoying me," I interrupted, crossing my arms.
He sighed and narrowed his eyes at me before sitting on the ground and much too easily tugging me down until I was in his lap, straddling him.
"Let's play a game, then," he suggested, running his hand through my hair.
"A game?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes," he nodded. "I ask you about yourself and when I get a real answer, I'll kiss you. The better the answer, the more interesting the kiss."
"You don't actually think I'm so horny I'd just give you perso-" I stopped when his lips landed on my neck in a sensitive spot. It was a long, deep, wet kiss and I had to focus on not giving him satisfaction by moaning.
"What's your favorite color?" He murmured, nuzzling into my neck.
"Color?" I breathed out.
That was not the kind of question I was expecting. He nodded into my neck, sliding his hands down to my lower back.
"Green."
He lifted his head up and placed a quick kiss against my cheek.
"That's it?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"The answer was subpar," he shrugged.
"I gave you what you wanted," I argued, setting my hands on my hips.
"You gave me a one-word answer," he said, narrowing his eyes. "A better answer would've been something like: my favorite color is green because I like the forest and trees and nature and your eyes look green in the light sometimes."
Wow. I hated to admit it but his was a better answer. I inherited my mother's hazel eyes but often they were more green than hazel.
"Favorite candy?" He asked, gliding his hand up and down my back.
"Mini snickers," I shrugged. "Not the regular size snickers. Mini snickers only."
"Why?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"The ratio is different," I shrugged. "Mini snickers taste infinitely better than regular snickers."
A smile tugged at his lips and he placed a longer kiss on my jaw.
"What about you?" I asked, focusing on breathing.
"Reeses. Favorite childhood memory?"
"Oh, um," I frowned, shrugging. "I don't know. I guess it would have to be making taffy with my mom at Christmas. You have to really pull taffy a lot to get it the right consistency and it always looked so pretty with the different colors catching on the light. My mom's were always better than mine but I still had a blast doing it with her."
He almost smiled and dropped his head into my neck, sucking my skin into his mouth before placing a kiss there. I wrapped my arms around his neck and bit on my lip to hold back the moan.
"Dream car?"
"Dream car?" I repeated, giggling.
He lifted his head and nodded, seeming completely serious.
"Okay, um, I've always wanted a car with eyes. You know, the headlights that open and close. I don't know what the model is. I just know I want a car with eyes," I shrugged.
His questions continued on, every other one being personal with the ones in between being something lighthearted like what my favorite movie was or favorite Christmas song. I couldn't remember the last time someone asked so much about me.
