After the two boring math lessons Tyler and I went to the cafeteria.

"So, do you wanna sit at my table at lunch?" I asked. He shrugged. "Come on. I don't want you to sit alone." I kept trying.

"I've been sitting alone since last school year." He replied. I frowned.

"Please?" I asked again and he looked at me. I saw pure fury in his eyes.

"A no is a no. I don't like socializing." He said rather quietly.

"Okay." I answered and he walked in the cafeteria and sat at a table in the far back.

"Saf!" I heard Mat call. I looked at him and he motioned for me to sit at the table where him, Steph and another girl sat. I sat next to the girl.

"Hi!" The girl said as I sat down.

"Safiya, Rosanna. Rosanna, Safiya." Mat said.

"You can call me Ro." Rosanna added.

"You can call me Saf." I added. We laughed.

"How was your first class here Saf?" Mat asked.

"How good could it be. I had maths. It was boring. But I did meet a guy." I said. Mat's face filled with excitement.

"Ooh, what's his name?" He asked. I didn't wanna say. I don't know how he'll react.

"I'm gonna go. See ya later." I said and stood up from the table. I took my food and walked over to the Tyler's table. "Hey." I said.

"What do you want?" He asked annoyed. "Why do you always hang on me? Why are you so interested in me?" He kept going. I sat down.

"Has anyone talked to you last year?" I asked. He looked at his food and said nothing. "Thought so." I added and he looked at me angry.

"Just shut up. I didn't want to be the loser of the school. I didn't want to be the boy that was stupid enough to get manipulated by jerks. I didn't want to be the new guy that ended up having no friends. You're lucky enough to have a friend you know since you were little." He said and I put a hand on his shoulder. "What are you doing?" He asked, questioning my gesture.

"Keep going." I said. I gave him an encouraging look.

"Why are you doing this? No one ever cares for me. I haven't seen my dad for five years and my mom is the only person who doesn't care that I got fucked by some guys." He said and then stood up and ran out of the cafeteria. Soon I saw Mike and his group standing up from their table and I immidiately knew they were going to mess with Tyler. I walked over to Mike.

"Hey." I said.

"Well look who it is. The loser's love." He said and laughed evily.

"At least I'll have someone who'll love me. Not like you who just uses people to get them to bed. Disgusting." I said and noticed that people started looking at us. I got nervous.

"You wanna fight?" He asked. "A tiny girl like you against a guy like me?"

"Yes. Let's fight." I said, feeling very nervous. I did take self defense classes, but still, I was a girl against a big guy.

"Okay get ready." He said. Then the bell rang. I was so relieved. The teacher called everyone and we went to our lockers. I got to my locker and someone stood next to me.

"Thanks for covering for me. I saw what you did. Very brave of you to confront the strongest guy of the school." He said.

"Hey, no problem. I'll do it again if needed." He hugged me.

"Thank you. I can't thank you enough." He said.

"Do you trust me now?" I asked.

"Yes. I do." He said. I smiled at him. "We should get to class now." He added and I nodded. I took my books and we made our way to class.
