Chapter 11
"Drake! How are you?" I ask excitedly.
Drake Jackson. When I was in Florida, he, Ryan, and I were best friends. We hung out all the time. When Ryan bit me in 9th grade, he still hung out with Drake, but I avoided Ryan at all costs. But I still talked and hung out with Drake every day. I've known him since I first moved to Florida with Jace and our grandparents, after my parents died when I was eight. When I moved here, I had to say goodbye to him, but apparently he hasn't forgotten about me!
Quinn groans loudly, shifting and tightening his hold on me. Oops, I said that way too loud.
"Sprout, who the heck was that?" Drake asks, a hint of amusement in his tone.
"Um, no one," I lie, blushing.
"Uh huh, yeah. I'll have to have The Talk with you when I get there," he says seriously, but I know he's only joking... half-way.
"Noooo, not The Talk! Drake, seriously! Wait, what about coming here?"
"That was the good news! Since I just turned eighteen, I'm moving out of my parent's house and moving to...drum roll!" I hear drum roll noises over the phone. "Wimberley!"
I gasp, sitting up and squealing loudly. Quinn sits up, instantly alert. He looks to me, worry in his eyes.
"Are you okay?! What's wrong, Angel?" He asks.
"Nothing! Drake's coming to Wimberley!" I squeal, grinning from ear to ear.
His eyes flash gold and he growls slightly.
"Who the hell is Drake?" Quinn growls, though I can tell it's actually Hunter speaking.
"Oh! Sorry, let me explain. Drake's my other best friend from Florida. We hung out almost all the time! Before I was bit, Ryan, Drake, and I were inseparable! Don't worry, Drake's like a brother to me. I love him like a big brother too," I explain, leaning in and softly kissing Quinn on the cheek.
I blush. I hope that calms him down. It does; Quinn comes back and he nods, pulling me into his lap.
"Ah, Quinn!" I squeal, giggling a bit.
"Aww, my lil' Sprout has a boyfriend! And I love you too! Oh, and also, I'm glad you know now," Drake says through the phone, now on the bed.
I blush again. I completely forgot he was on the phone still. Wait, what does he mean by 'I know now'?
"Uh, Drake, what do you mean by 'I know now'?" I ask him, putting him on speaker.
"Sera, I know you know that mythical creatures exist. For one thing, your boyfriend, whom I'm assuming is a... hmm, werewolf?" I gasp, then he continues, "well, he growled like a werewolf would, at least. And that protective attitude means you're most likely his mate, right?"
"Uh, yeah," I breathe before he continues again.
"Then you said 'bit', meaning you knew that Ryan is a vampire and that he bit you. By the way, just know, I almost killed Ry when he did that, but we made up when I heard his feelings for you. Hmm, that won't happen, will it?"
Quinn growls again.
"No," he seethes into the phone.
"Oh my! Hi, Mr. Mate! I'm Drake Jackson, Sera's 'big bro', after Jace, of course. Hmm, what rank are you? I'd say, judging by your possessiveness and what Ryan has told me, you're gonna' be an Alpha, am I correct?"
Quinn stops growling, seeming surprised.
"Uh, yes."
"Wait, Drake, you still speak to Ryan?" I ask.
"Yeah, but he doesn't tell me anything about his plan. I know he's up to something. It's half the reason why I'm moving to Wimberley. I don't want either of you getting hurt. I love you both. All he tells me is what he's been doing. Like, what he sees from you or something. I'm glad you're settling into Wimberley. I'm worried, but I expect a full explanation tomorrow when I arrive. Um, could you possibly pick me up too? My car won't get there until next month."
"Oh, sure. That is if Quinn over here will let me leave the house," I say, flipping my head up to look behind me at Quinn.
He shakes his head. I pout.
"I'm sorry, Drake, but Sera cannot leave, but I can ask Jace to pick you up," Quinn says.
"Yay!" I giggle, jumping in Quinn's lap.
"I completely understand. But just know, when I get there, I might be stealing your girlfriend from you from time to time," Drake warns, a hint of amusement in his tone once again.
Quinn scowls at the phone. I roll my eyes.
"Well, I have to get the Big Bad Alpha to go back to sleep. He's very cranky from lack of sleep. Bye bye, Fireboy!"
"Bye, Lil' Sprout! Love you!"
"Love you too," I say, before hanging the call up.
Quinn lays down again, with my still in his lap. I roll off him, going to his side instead, and start to read something on my phone. I feel eyes on the side of my face and sigh, not looking up from my phone.
"Go to sleep," I tell Quinn.
"Fine," he sighs, going back to sleep.
The whole day goes by, when around dinner time, Quinn finally wakes up.
"Hey, Angel," he murmurs from in front of me, still on his side.
I look up from my phone, and smile.
"Hey, Quinn. So, did you get a good day's sleep?"
"Yes."
"Good. Now, can I actually get up? I'm starving because I haven't eaten since yesterday at lunch, and I want to get out of these clothes and into some more comfortable clothes."
"Sure. I do too. Come on, I'll show you where we eat," he says, sitting up.
His hair sticks out in different places, and I giggle, reaching up and smoothing it out. He smiles at me, a very faint hint of a blush on his cheeks.
"Are you blushing?" I tease.
He blushes harder, so it's now visible. I laugh, kissing his cheek again, making him blush even more, if that was even possible.
"Wow, you're blushing more than me," I tease.
"No way. No one blushes more than you, Angel," Quinn says, smirking.
It's my turn to blush, just proving his point. I get out of my bed, walking over to the door. Quinn follows, grabbing my hand when he gets to me.
"Let's go eat," he says, opening the door and leading me to the kitchen.
When we get there, I look at the open and very large modern kitchen.
"Wow, why is the kitchen so huge?" I ask him.
I notices girls flurrying around, cooking and washing dishes.
"Because half the pack eats here at one point or another. Although most of the pack lives in different areas throughout Wimberley, they sometimes come over just to eat here. And it's also used for dinners with the Betas and their family. That happens often, though Jace couldn't bring you because you didn't know about us. We're actually going to have a dinner tomorrow for you. So you'll meet Tyler's and my family, well, just my mom. You've already met my dad and myself."
"Oh."
Nerves start to tighten my stomach into knots. What if I make a fool of myself? What if they think I'm too quiet or too timid?
"Hey, you okay?" He asks me, noticing my nervous look.
"What if they don't like me?"
"Don't worry, Angel, they're going to love you, just like I do," he assures me, tapping my nose lightly.
I blush again and he chuckles, leaning in and kissing my forehead tenderly.
"You're so cute when you blush. Then again, you're always cute," he murmurs.
I blush more, looking down, when I hear someone clear their throat. My head shoots up to find Violet, Tyler, Jace, Alpha Harris, and even the girls in the kitchen, all staring at us. I look down again, blushing wildly. I literally look like a tomato with curls. Violet squeals suddenly, running from Tyler's arms and right into me.
"Oh my gosh, that was the most freaking adorable thing I have ever seen!" She screams.
I laugh uneasily, still very embarrassed. Tyler pats Quinn on the back, before hugging me and prying Violet off me as well. Alpha Harris just chuckles and goes to sit at the dining table, a girl with blonde curls and brown eyes serving him a plate of roast beef, mashed potatoes, and salad. Violet, Tyler, and Jace follow, Jace muttering about 'no PDA when I'm around'. The girls had already gone back to cooking and serving.
"Come on, my little tomato, let's go sit down," Quinn whispers to me.
I nod, following him to the table. We sit down at the front, right next to Alpha Harris, who's at the head of the table. On the other side, Jace, then Tyler and Violet sit. The same girl who served Alpha Harris serves me.
"Thank you," I tell her when she places the plate in front of me.
"Y-your welcome, Luna," she whispers.
"Um, I'm not the Luna yet, so can you please call me Serafina?" I ask politely.
"Of course, Lu-Serafina."
I smile, watching her leave.
When everyone is served, Alpha Harris begins to eat, and we all follow. The food's delicious! I eat it at a proper pace, though, so I don't embarrass myself.
When we all finish, the girls come and clear our plates away. I say thanks again to the girl who clear my plate.
"Hey, Sera, wanna' have a girl's night?" Violet asks me.
"Sure, but I've never really had one before. I've really only had boy friends, not girl," I tell her.
She grins.
"Ooh! I can't wait to show you!" She giggles.
She gets up, pulling Tyler with her. They go upstairs. I turn to Quinn.
"Will you be okay?" I ask him.
"Sure. I have work to do anyways. But, I might pop in at one point and hang with you," he says.
"Okay. Bye, Quinn," I say, getting up.
"Bye, Angel."
I stop in front of Jace and Alpha Harris.
"Goodnight Jacey, Alpha Harris. Thank you for letting me stay, Alpha," I say.
"You're most welcome, Serafina," Alpha Harris says, smiling.
"Bye, lil' Sis! Have fun!" Jace calls before I walk back to my room to get ready for girl's night.
So, good, bad? Idk; I haven't read my story in forever! Lol.
