Carlisle POV

One Month Later
Saturday 14th September 2007

"Gwen calm down. James said they're on their way." I hug her from behind.

"I'm calm. I'm calm." She says, taking deep breaths.

She's so cute.

Chuckling I kiss the side of her head.

Today is Henry's birthday. He's officially 18. Bella's birthday was also yesterday but she didn't really want anything big, so Ms. D made her a birthday cake and we had a small family get together before she was whisked away by Edward.

We were alittle skeptical if to allow James know about Renessmae but Alice said she saw him with us and since the game him and Henry have gotten a lot closer. He's become an active member at family dinners recently.

His sister did try to join as well, but was shut down immediately by her brother, and when he had met Renessmae, he said and I quote "Your business."

I must meet his parents.

I recently took Gwen on another date, and I could say she was pleased.

Flashback

"So what are you thinking? Lavish again. Make it like a annual thing seeing as it was your first date venue. Or a whole new place?" Alice says, sitting down in the chair in front my desk. I called Alice,Rosalie and Esme to my office to help me plan a date for Gwen.

"Lavish again? I say somewhere new." Rosalie says.

"How about a movie night? There's a clearing not to far from here. We can set up under the tree." Esme suggests.

"We can ask Ms. D to cook the food so Carlisle can get to eat as well!" Alice excitingly says.

"It's a plan. Tell Gwen to dress comfy. Leave the decor to us." Rosalie says and they all got up leaving.

Gwen and I walked to the clearing, and I was absolutely amazed by it. The girls are really great at this.

"Okay ready?" I ask standing behind her.

"Yes."

"Okay. 1...2...3." Taking off the blindfold. I watch as her hands flew to her mouth as she took in the view in front of her in awe.

DATE

She turns around to face me.
"You never cease to amaze me Carlisle. It's beautiful. Thank you." she tells me placing a soft kiss on my lips.

End of Flashback

Everything is simply perfect.

"They're here!" Edward says walking out back, Renessmae runs over to her mom. The sound of a car pulling up fills my ears.

We all get into position,waiting for them to walk out back. By the way, it's not a surprise party.

Backyard

"I'm telling you dude. He's crazy." I hear James' voice. They walk towards us, Henry's face lighting up as he realizes we were all outside.

"Happy Birthday!!!"

"Thanks guys." He says laughing.

"Happy Birthday Henry." Aiden says running up to him. He's been practicing for a few days now to properly say Happy Birthday for Henry.

"Aww. Thanks Aidie." He says picking him up.

"Okay enough of this. Let's party!!!" Jewel shouts.

"What's up everyone!! It's your loveable and amazing DJ, DJ Emmett. Let's get this party started!!!"

"Okay everyone gather around. Henry come this way." Jewel says pulling him to the table to sit.

Gwen starts walking out the backdoor as we all start singing Happy Birthday.

"Happy Birthday to you!!! Hip hip hip!!" Gwen says.

"Horay!!"

"Hip hip hip!!"

"Horay!!!" Henry closes his eyes, makin a wish, before blowing out his candle.

"Okay let's let Aidie cut the cake with him." Ms. D says. Alice and Edward recording with their phones.

"Okay Aidie, hold unto Henry's hand and cut the cak- Aiden no!" Ms. D shouts as Aiden sticks his finger in the cake, and then sticingnit straight into his mouth.

"Tawse good." We all begin to laugh. Henry takes his hand in his and they cut the cake together. Taking out the piece, he brings it to Aiden's mouth for him to get a bite, then over to Gwen before taking a bite himself.

"Okay okay people. We're going to say a few words to the birthday boy before we open gifts. Get your glasses. Henry and James, I got permission from both guardians for you to have only one glass of champagne. One." Jewel says, handing them two glasses that were nearly to the brim.

Gwen gives her a look.

"What? It's one glass as you commanded. You never said how much to put in it." She shrugs. Gwen rolls her eyes.
"Who's going first?"

"I'll go first!!" Alice says.
"Okay so Henry. I think I say this on behalf of myself and the rest of us. You really are a great kid. And I hope that you'll always be happy. Cheers!!"

"Cheers!"

"Okay little H. Your practically a little brother to us, and family sticks together. If you ever need anyone to talk to about girl crushes,I'm your guy." Emmett says.

"Oh please no. He just turned 18. I don't want to worry about that yet." Gwen says shaking her head, making us laugh.

Emmett disregards what Gwen says and winking at Henry, mouthing to him, I'm your guy.

"Okay I'll go next. Henry. I've seen you grow into a fine young man. And I hope you continue on like that. Love you." Ms. D says, raising her glass.

"My turn! My twurn." Aiden shouts. He folds his hands together in front of him. He glances over to Gwen and she gives him a thumbs up.

He takes a deep breathe...

"Henry. You the best big bwother I ever ask foh. I love you awways. Cheers!" He says lifting his sippy cup.

"Aww!!!"

"Love you too. Aidie." He says and toasts his glass with Aidie's sippie cup, that is filled with Apple juice.

Gwen had told me that Aiden wanted Apple juice instead of orange juice, because he wanted his juice to be the same color as our champagne.

"Henry. You truly are a great kid as Alice has said. You have been nothing but amazing to me and my family. I thank you, for giving me the chance to be with Gwen and be a part of your family. I wish that you will have more happy moments to cherish and when you do meet that particular girl, that she'll be one of a kind. Cheers." I say.

The toasts went on as everyone gave their speech. Finally coming to the last person to speak.

"Henry Benedict. I promised myself I was not going to cry." She says, leaning her head back. I rub her lower back, to give a sense of comfort. She looks up to me, thanking me.

"Okay. I remember when I first met you. You were this short little fluffy head, miserable little boy."

"Hey, I was not miserable. I just wasn't well behaved yet." He defends himself.

"Oh please. You were miserable." He laughs.
"Honestly we've been through a lot and I'm truly grateful, that I had you there with me through everything. I'm proud of the young man you've become. You're so intelligent and considerate to everyone around you. Very hard working. You have always been there for me and I will always be there for you. I don't think I'm ready for you to start dating y-et." She says as tears fell from her eyes. We all couldn't help but smile at her.

"I know for a fact that your mother would of been very proud of you. She always said you would be great at football." A solemn smile comes unto his face.

"Ah! The tears won't stop. Okay. I actually have something for you, it's not a gift per say but..." she say putting down her glass, Jewel passing her a piece of paper.
"Daphne had actually written something for you before she passed and she told me to read it to you on your 18th birthday."

Gwen's POV

"Dear Henry,
Happy Birthday baby boy. You're 18 today. I'm sorry that I couldn't be there with you to celebrate. I'm sure you've turned into a brilliant young man. Knowing Gwen, she's gonna make sure you do. Do you still play games as much as before? I'm sure you do. If you do however decide to play a sport, I think you'll do great at football. I hope you're no longer as miserable as you were when you were younger. Behave for Gwen- " My voice breaks. Clearing my throat I blink hard to clear my vision from my tears.

"Be happy always. Aim for your dreams. Become a great man. I love you so much.

P.S
Make sure Gwen meets a good guy, who treats her right. Hopefully she's no longer dating that Philip guy. I never did trust him. Take care of her for me as well. I know my passing won't be easy for you both. I love you Gwennie. You were the greatest best friend a girl could ever ask for. I know asking you to take custody of Henry is a lot to ask, but I'm so happy that he has you after I'm gone. Don't ever change Gwen. I Love you guys always.

Daphne.

I look to Henry, tears running down both of our faces. He walks up to me, pulling me into a tight hug.

Daphne truly was a rock for both of us. So much that when she died, we honestly didn't know, what to really do. Even though, Philip had cheated on me, I think what hurt more was that I didn't have her there to talk to about it.

Sometimes a person you've only known for a short time can make such a big impact on your life.

"I miss her so much." Henry whispers.

"Me too."

Aiden runs up to us hugging our feet. Henry picks him up, joining him in our hug. We stayed like that for a few more seconds before pulling apart.

"Ugh! No more crying." I say wiping Herny's tears.

"No more crying too Mommy." Aiden says reaching out to wipe mines.

"Let's brighten back up the mood. Jewel what's next?"

"Gifts." She replies, wiping away her own tears. We all head on inside, settling down in the living room.

"So little H, this is from all of us. Happy Birthday." Emmett says handing him the gift. Henry goes to opening it, revealing the original nintendo game console.

Gift from Cullens and them.

"Shut up. Thanks so much guys!!" He excitingly says, pulling Emmett in for a bro hug.

"He's never going to stop playing." I joke.

"Okay my turn." Jewel says handing him her an envelope. He opens its, his head snapping to me.

"This why you kept telling me I can't go."

"Yes! I told Gwen to make sure you didn't buy any tickets to the Mario Convention. I was not about to have that." Jewel says.

"Thanks Jewel. I was really mad that Gwen wouldn't let me go. This means a lot." He says,hugging her.

"Our turn!! Hurry up mommy let's go." Aiden says jumping off Rosalie's lap and running to me. I pick him up.

"Aiden and I's gift is outside for you."

Henry's eyes light up, and he rushes out the door, all of us following behind him. I had asked Jasper if he could prepare the car for me while we were all out back.

"NO WAY GWEN!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!" He says running to the car.

"It was my idea too." Aiden says sulking.

"And he loves it." I said kissing his cheek.

1967 FORD MUSTANG

"I thought you said you'll never buy anything other than an Audi." Ms. D smugly says, folding her arms.

"I'll make an exception for him." Walking down to the car,Henry and James sat inside, gawking out over the interior.

"This is amazing! Thanks Gwen. Thanks Aiden."

"You're welcome." Aiden and I say at the same time.

"Okay get out the car it's my turn now." Ms. D says, pulling him out.
"Jacob!!"

A loud reviving sound fills the air.

"Oh no."

"Oooh yes." Ms. D says, smirking.

"A Harley FLSTN Softail Deluxe 14." Henry says in awe. As Jacob drives up the driveway.
"Pinch me."

Ms. D Gift

"You have to get your motorcycle license before you can drive that you hear me young man." I tell him.

"Already have it." He replies going over to the bike.

"What?! When?!" I look to Ms. D in disbelief.

"Helped him get it about a month ago."

"Ms. D!!"

"What! You bought him a mustang, I got him a bike." I look back to him, the big smile on his face calming me a bit. Honestly, it's hard coming to terms with the fact that my baby brother is not a baby anymore.

I sat outside on the sofa, taking some time to myself. Henry and the boys are playing on his new console. I could hear their loud cheers, making me smile.

It's amazing how fast time can fly.
Our boys 18 Daphne.

"Hey. What you doing out here?" Carlisle asks coming to sit next to me. He places a blanket over me, adding more warmth to the jacket I had on.

"Just getting some air."

"Where's Aiden?"

"Rosalie carried him and Renessmae upstairs for bed." I nod.

I turn and lie down. Placing my head on his lap. His hand instantly moving to  play with my hair.

"Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?" My cheeks warm, and he chuckles.

"Many times."

"And I'll keep telling you.Your eyes are beautiful." He says, staring into my eyes. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, and right now Carlisle's eyes were filled with so much love.

"I'm very happy I gave you a chance Carlisle."

"I'm happy you did too." He smiles his signature breathtaking smile, causing me to smile as well.

Moments like this, I wish time would pause.

"There you are!" I jump, almost falling off from Carlisle's lap but he catches me.
"Sorry. Come on love birds. We're gonna watch a movie and then "go to bed." He says chuckling and heads back inside.

"Come on let's go. It's almost bed time." He chuckles, helping me up.

"You guys are so miserable."

We head on inside, Luis resting a big bowl of caramel popcorn on the table. Esme putting down a similar bowl, but it was filled with the regular one.

"So what we watching?"

"Transformers."
