Annabeth's POV

I once again studied Percy during breakfast. His sea green eyes glittered, his crooked, mischievous smile planted on his face as usual. I studied him day after day. I observed his reaction to  every day occurrences, such as a Ares cabin brawl, to see his reaction to them. He was always cool and collected. Stern when a camper got out of line, but nothing like what I had seen.

"Annabeth? Are you okay?" Malcom asked from beside me, squeezing my arm slightly. He saw I was staring at Percy, and he seemed to understand it wasn't in the love way most couples looked at each other. He knew when I was thinking better than almost everyone else.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I lied, giving him a quick, forced smile. He frowned, obviously telling that something was up, and squeezed my arm again before chatting with our other siblings.

I let out a silent breath of relief and went back to examining Percy. If only there was a way to tell what he was thinking during these times. Maybe Leo could create something of some sort.

I finished my breakfast hastily and contributed to the conversations at my table, which were mostly arguments over which New York college was the best, until it was time to go. Just as Leo was leaving, his arm around Calypso, I called his name. He looked back, confused, but I just waved him over. He gave Calypso a quick kiss on the cheek before running over to me. "What's up Annabeth?" He asked casually, blowing a loose strand of curly hair away from his deep brown eyes.

"Do you think you can do something for me?" I asked in a hushed tone. I looked around and saw Percy wasn't around, so I looked back to Leo and brushed a piece of hair behind my ear.

"Uh... Maybe?" He asked nervously. It wasn't often I asked something of Leo, so I understood his slight confusion. Especially since I was acting so secretly.

"Good." I glanced around again, double checking. "Is there some way you can build a machine to... Almost read minds?" I asked.

       "Probably, why?" He asked curiously.

"I... I'll explain. Can you get the rest of the seven, and Nico, to meet me at Zeus' fist?" I asked.

I saw confusion in his eyes, but he nodded. "How about Cally? Can she come?" He asked, nodding his head in the direction Calypso was in, who was waiting with a curious expression.

"Sure. Everyone except Percy." I told him. That rose an eyebrow on Leo's face. "Just do it, please?" I asked. He shrugged and nodded.

"I will, see you there!" He yelled over his shoulder, running over to Calypso. He took her arm and began to lead her away, and I could see him whispering in her ear.

I sighed anxiously, brushing the stray strand of hair from face. It always fell in my face. I began to walk through camp, smiling and waving at my friends. I didn't see Percy, which confused me a little bit. Wasn't he supposed to be doing sword training? Then I remembered that it was Friday, he had Friday and weekends off of training.

I inclined my head to Clarisse as I passed her, making it look like I was heading for the Athena cabin, then took a sharp turn towards Zeus' fist.

Ten minutes later we were all around Zeus' fist- Everyone minus Percy, that is. "Why are we here?" Nico asked, leaning in the shadows of the large boulder. I almost shuddered when I remembered how Percy and I had found the Labyrinth when we were younger. He was a completely oblivious kid, unaware that Rachel and I had been at each others throats over him.

"I... I need to tell you guys something, but you can't tell Percy." I told them, trying to stop my voice from quivering. They looked confused, and slightly concerned, but nodded.

"Okay. So down in... Down in Tartarus... I saw something that scared me." I tried not to stutter just thinking about it. "Percy... He looked... Almost evil, for a second. We had come across Akhlys... And he... He was controlling her own poison and trying to.." I took a breath. "He was trying to drown her in her own poison. And his face... His face hasn't left me. It looked almost... I don't know, but there was never any sign that it left once we got out. I... I've been trying to examine him, almost, seeing what his reactions were to different things, why he would have done that. But nothing comes up to the same result. I think... I think he's hiding it, you know? So I want Leo to make something to... Somehow read his mind. Like... Say his thoughts out loud, you know? Through some ear piece, or write it down, or something." Once I had finished I looked up and saw shocked faces, then realized tears were running down my own.

The experience had shaken me up bad. I hadn't realized just how powerful and just how easily he could kill anyone in an instant without an problems. I had always thought of him as... Kind of harmless. The boy who would be killed by using sarcasm at the wrong him. His face was twisted too, like he enjoyed what he was doing, like he enjoyed torturing the goddess of misery.

"Was it that bad?" Piper whispered. I nodded slowly and hesitantly spoke.

"It was cruel... And dark and... Sadistic..." I whispered. Piper drew me into a hug, Hazel joining in so they were both hugging me. I graciously accepted, taking the extra comfort.

"I'll work on something, I promise." Leo nodded, a determined look in his eyes. I nodded, smiling thankfully at him as I pulled away from the hug.

"We'll all help in any way we can." Nico agreed with a curt nod. I smiled weakly at him. The kid had always kind of freaked me out, but I need all the help I could get.

      "Thank you, Nico."

*Timeskip because I don't know what to put D:*

"Done!" Leo exclaimed proudly, holding up a small syringe full of a orange-yellow substance.

"Uh... What is that?" Hazel asked warily.

"It's a chemical that can pronounce thoughts in the brain and send them to a transmitter. I made us all ear pieces, too!" Leo handed us each a small, black thing what fit right inside my ear without being able to seen from the outside. Perfect.

"Now, this just needs to be injected into Percy. But how?" Leo asked.

"Will. He can say it's some standard thing for people that went through... Tartarus. Leo can created a fake that isn't anything- just dyed water." Nico suggested.

"Good idea Nico, can you go tell him? And Leo, can you work on the fake syringes?" I asked.

Nico and Leo nodded. Nico left the Hephaestus cabin and Leo grabbed a few things. Next thing we know, Will is leading all three of us to the infirmary. "I feel fine! I don't need any... Whatever that is!" Percy whined. This is the Percy I used to see. Now, whenever I look at his face, I see the pure glee as he drowns the goddess in her own poison.

"It's fine Percy, It's just to make sure we don't have any breathing troubles in the future." I assured him, squeezing his arm. Despite how wrong it felt lying to him, I was excited as well. All my studying hadn't gone far, this could be my proof.

My proof for what? That Percy was evil inside?

Will brought us into a little section and sat us down. He did Nico, then me, then Percy. It didn't hurt, just a little sting, but Percy winced. I smiled a thanks at Will and he winked before ushering us out. I started to hear soft whispering, and it slowly got louder until I could make out a voice.

Percy's voice. (Italics are Percy's thoughts)

I don't like syringes. What's the phobia name again? I'm sure Annabeth told me at some point... I ought to try to remember. Maybe I'd learn a few things.

"Hey Percy, you okay?" I asked. He looked over, confused.

      "Yeah, I'm fine, why?"

Liar. You shouldn't lie to your girlfriend.

"You just seem a little pale." I admitted, taking his hand. "And you're hands weak."

"I just don't like shots." He responded with a shudder.

At least that's not a lie.

"Hey Percy, their is a small truth-or-dare session at the Hades cabin, you up for it?" Nico asked.

Truth or dare? Why would I want to, with all the things I'm hiding?

     "Yeah, sure! Sounds fun!"

      You can't fool yourself Jackson.

"See you then." Nico said before walking off.

"So Wise Girl, are you going?"

Please say yes please say yes...

"Of course Seaweed brain." I said, squeezing his hand. He smiled and blushed a little bit. How did he still blush and look so innocent at times?

What did I do to deserve someone as amazing as Annabeth? Oh, right, nothing.

"Where are you headed now?" I asked.

"My cabin. I'm a bit tired." He said, then yawned.

      You're a fucking liar.

"Okay, love you." I got up on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek. He blushed and slowly let go of my hand, walking to the Poseidon cabin.

     My gods she's amazing...

As soon as the door shut I ran to the Hades cabin, where everyone was. I opened the door and everyone looked up. "It's working..." Leo muttered.

"Obviously." I muttered back, plopping down on a vacant bed.

I wonder what Annabeth is doing right now... Should I have left her? She looked kind of upset... Great job Jackson, leaving your girlfriend in distress. What a wonderful person you are.

There was a pause in his thoughts, in which none of the demigods moved a muscle.

Ain't I a happy go lucky guy right now? If Annabeth were here she'd tell me Ain't isn't a word... Unless she's to upset to correct me... My gods Jackson, just do yourself a favor and shut the fuck up already.

"Well isn't he just glass half empty." Leo muttered. Hazel and Nico nodded in agreement, while the others had shell-shocked expressions on their faces. I assume I had the same expression as them.

I wonder when truth or dare is... Maybe I should pretend to sleep so I don't have to go. They would let me sleep, right? They know how sleep deprived I am. I think I'm beating Nico on who can sleep the least each week... I don't know how he goes to sleep so late and gets up so early. On the topic of Nico, how long has it been since he's eaten a proper meal? Like, produce... Dairy... Grain... Uh... Fruit and starch, right? I think so. Annabeth would laugh if she had heard me right then. Blubbering idiot as always, nice going. Wait, what was I talking about? Screw you ADHD. Uh.. Nico. Right. What about Nico? Shit. I forgot. Uh... Will? No, it wasn't that... Sleepin- No, I already went over that. Food? Right. Proper meal. I wonder how long it's been. I think Will force feeds him though, so that's good. To bad he wont eat himself, but whatever. Better than starving himself.

"Percy has a... Very rapid, very random mind." Nico noted, slightly pink from all the attention he probably wasn't used to.

      "Yeah he does." Jason muttered.

What time is it? Uh... Almost lunch. Greeaaat. More people. Can't I just live in my cabin? Annabeth might bring me food, I can use one of Leo's saws to cut a hole on the bottom of the door... Now what idiot would trust me with a saw? I'd probably saw on of my hands off. I'm lucky Riptide doesn't leave my pocket, Annabeth probably would have Percy-proofed it or something. So that I can't accidentally stab myself in the stomach or something stupid that. Imagine the cap just came off on my pocket and it just completely destroyed my jeans- That would be embarrassing. Ugh, ADHD. On second thought, I'd get Jason to cut the hole in the bottom of the door, cause he's all Mr. Perfect or whatever Piper calls him. Sparky, Mr. Perfect, Blond Superman, whatever the hell he's called now.

Jason rolled his eyes, like, 'can you believe him?'

"He's not living in his cabin, not on my watch." I grumbled. Nico nodded in agreement.

What the fuck is wrong with my head? Maybe Dionysus secretly cursed me with madness. Wouldn't surprise me. The guy fucking hates me. Just like all the other gods, titans, giants and monsters. With my luck demigods are gonna be next. Some evil titan or giants is going to twist there minds and they're all going to hate me... Ugh. Let's not become more of a pessimist Jackson, you're depression's gonna show through later if you keep this up. I'm surprised they don't already know, I mean, I suck at pretending and I think it's pretty obvious.. Oh well, I guess. It's good for me and them, I don't need to bring them trouble.

I bit my bottom lip a bit too hard and I felt tears threatening to spill down my face. Percy has depression, and no one even noticed. That leads a further question though-

What else is Percy hiding from us?
